I think it's interesting that they're building him up as this dead-shot, quick-draw who's on a collision course for a showdown with Raylan, yet they've not once shown him in action really (aside from fake-drawing on Loretta) 3/26/2015 1:10:07 PM |

You know, I wouldn't be THAT surprised if he ended up shooting Raylan.. They've been down this path with numerous villains and Raylan always won... and Raylan is pretty cocky about it to this guy. This may be the guy who ends up wounding Raylan. 3/26/2015 3:23:55 PM |

Finally caught up on the last two episodes. After watching the actor who plays Boon play a scummy politician on Parenthood, I am having a hard time believing him in this role.
Also I hope Raylan puts him down.

Oh interesting, wasn't the other dude from Deadwood on Parenthood as well? Interesting considering they came up with the character to replace him due to scheduling issues.
Watch him on the Black Donnelys, it was a show that got cancelled way too early, but definitely shows his more menacing side. 3/31/2015 5:54:57 PM |

Great episode. I think the end of the episode sets up an epic 2 episodes left.
Clearly, Raylan has entered "IDGAF" mode.. especially by leaving the badge and stuff in the car. He's going to do whatever it takes to get ava and boyd.. or at least try. and I sincerely hope that he smokes that Boon kid pretty soon, and steals his hat after he does it.
I wonder if Raylan's character in the book wore a hat like Boon's? and the writers of the show are setting it up where Raylan steal it from that character?

HOLY SHIT I LOVE THIS SHOW
Also, don't get the hate for Boone. He might be my favorite one season bad guy ever. Showdown with Raylan will be so awesome. 4/8/2015 12:24:23 PM |

Yeah Boone has been solid, but I'm curious to know what the original plan was for Garret Dillahunt. They mentioned in an interview that Dillahunt was supposedly going to be in the full season, then due to casting issues they had to cut him short, and Boone came in as the replacement.
I do hope Boone doesn't kill Raylan though. I think I would've been okay with it if he had been in the full season, and maybe took out Tim, something to establish him as more of a threat, but to this point he is almost all talk. 4/8/2015 12:37:18 PM |

the red herring in place is the fact that Boone doesn't keep one in the chamber, so the obvious solution is for Boone to draw on Raylan and lose because he'd have to shoot twice. that said, he'll get bit by a snake or Tim will just snipe him or something. no way he kills Raylan.
given this is a Elmore Leonard story, I think Raylan will live and either get to retire or transfer down to Florida. without giving away what happens in the teaser, I doubt these "charges" will stick so I don't see him winding up in jail. the real question is if Boyd and/or Ava will die. Same for Loretta, Bob, and Wynn. I'm still hoping for a "Where there's a Wynn there's a way" spinoff, or maybe "Better Call Bob featuring Wynn Duffy". there'd be a lot of a better chance for that, though, if the dumbass wasn't going back to Harlan 4/8/2015 12:43:31 PM |

Well, those are cool ideas, but
***SPOILER FROM LAST NIGHT***
regarding a show featuring Constable Bob, we're not sure Bob's gonna make it. Didn't look too good.
***SPOILER OVER***
I, too, doubt Raylan will die. I wouldn't be surprised if they left a little something open for a movie. Weren't there some rumblings about a movie at one point? or was that just wishful thinking out loud?

this is true (except one thing from last night), but his creepy sociopathic delivery is threatening IMO.

I'm not sure I would like a Wynn Duffy spin off. He is great for his one liners and crazy reactions to situations, I don't know if that would work in a 60 minute show. Granted I would've thought the same about Saul, but Bob Odenkirk really carries it.
Yeah Boone definitely seems threatening, I just don't think they have built him up enough to take down Raylan. A good enough threat for the season finale sure, but the main showdown next Tuesday better be Raylan/Boyd not Raylan/Boone. And all he really did last night was shoot a random henchman, not anyone who was much of a challenge for him. 4/8/2015 2:32:29 PM |

True, but it should be a fun scene (Boon* vs Raylan). Boon did kill Loretta's great aunt as well, I forgot about that.

great finale, great final season. loved the callbacks. loved finally seeing Raylan in the "smaller businessman Stetson", the hat that Elmore Leonard's originally character wore in the book and was his only original gripe about the show. damn i love this show. 4/15/2015 8:39:41 AM |

Ah, I was wondering what the significance of the smaller hat was all about. Had not read any of the source material so I wasn't sure why everybody was excited when Boon came in talking about hats. Now it makes a lot more sense. 4/15/2015 9:14:27 PM |

Yep...Apparently, in the very first season after Raylan shoots Boyd, he tells him, "I'm sorry" Ava asks him why he said he was sorry and he said, "we dug coal together"...
So this time, Boyd got to say it in the finale.
Also, I didn't catch this until I read the post-mortem interview on yahoo, but when Raylan gets the picture of Ava in the newspaper clipping, if you look in the upper corner, you can see that Rachel sent it from Seattle...
Here is the interview in case you want to read it. https://www.yahoo.com/tv/justified-series-finale-recap-postmortem-116400767380.html 4/15/2015 9:30:19 PM |

Just started this a couple weeks ago and the wife and I are already on Season 3. Kind of reminds me of Sons of Anarchy in that it's not exactly the best writing/directing/acting (although I might put it a smidgen above SofA in most of the categories)...but it damn sure is entertaining. Also...my wife is in love with Raylan...she could have cared less for Jax Teller. At least I have Winona to look at...the women on SofA were lacking for the most part.
Looking forward to how the rest of the series plays out. 3/4/2016 11:26:58 AM |

I will preface this by saying that Justified is possibly my favorite TV drama ever, but I do admit it's definitely not overall as "good" as the consensus best shows like Breaking Bad, etc.
That said, it is way better than SOA, and did not go downhill very much, if at all, compared to SOA which just went completely off the rails.
Outside of the first 2 or 3 seasons, SOA got significantly worse every time I watched it. By the last season I was really just watching so that I could be done with it. That never happens with Justified 3/4/2016 11:36:52 AM |

the acting on Justified is leaps and bounds better than SoA. Not to mention that Justified has some incredible cameos and fantastic villains. The only let down in the latter was Michael Rappaport 3/4/2016 1:27:42 PM |

Never watched SOA, but I did binge Justified this past summer. Pretty much agree completely with you. At times it's kinda corny and predictable - Raylan always saves the day/gets out of harms way just in the nick of time. And like you said, you can't really compare it to Breaking Bad, BB is just in a different category. But it's so entertaining and the the characters are so good, especially the villains. It's just an all around really fun show to watch, IMO.

Started watching after giving up on Deadwood two episodes into season 2. Halfway thru season 4 currently. Definitely entertaining, also definitely getting predictable, hoping the series ends on a high note. I am a fan of the frequent references to Yankees and how much they suck. They also seem to do a good job of actually using actors who hail from the South and who have decent southern accents instead of the horror show that was James Van Der Beek in Varsity Blues. 8/15/2019 12:43:33 PM |
