Yang rises a little bit earlier ahead of history. Most Americans don't know who he is, or even ignore him. That doesn't matter to me. There will be an Asian POTUS eventually.

Dave Chappelle endorses Yang, and will campaign for him in SC.

I'm not convinced Chappelle's endorsement is enough to carry him to the top of the primary for that state. I'm not convinced it would have done so in 2003.

I dunno. There's no IF. Same as most of blacks voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012. This is by default of the campaign team.

He will join the cabinet of the nominee and together solve problems of this country facing if he doesn't win the race. That's what he said last night to the audience.

I'm not sure. I don't think they will announce the cabinet name list to the public until they move Trump out of the office. Except the VP pick, as VP is gonna debate with Pence.

pretty good week!

NY Times editorial board primary endorsement interview transcript released

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/01/15/opinion/andrew-yang-nytimes-interview.html

Same for The Washington Post

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/01/17/washington-post-editorial-board-interviews-2020-candidate-andrew-yang

Appeared on The Late Show with Colbert

Also on the season premiere of Bill Maher's show

And of course Dave Chappelle made his endorsement official and is doing a few fundraising shows in SC at the end of the month

Wasn't one of the debate participants this week (despite polling higher than both Klobuchar and Steyer) but that's ok we still trended globally during the debate, raised $2M and are holding multiple events daily with overflow attendance as Yang continues to speak directly to the American people not about typical DC drama but about the real problems our country is facing.

As the field shrinks, name recognition and favorability continue to increase and the #YangMediaBlackout is even starting to ease a little bit perhaps?

The biggest obstacle at this point is perceived electability in the minds of Democratic voters vs the more well-known names.

People consistently say that they like Yang and appreciate his non-ideological, ego-less approach and the authentic, positive mindset his campaign brings. Right now we're still in this phase:

But very few people who support Yang end up changing their minds, as illustrated by this great video from a non-political YouTuber with 500k subscribers

The data continues to show that of all the Dem candidates, Yang has the best odds to win vs Trump.

Don't Dems want to nominate the candidate that appeals to the most Americans and therefore has the best chance to beat Trump? Every other candidate has at least one significant flaw working against them. The biggest thing working against Yang is that he hasn't worked in government before and wasn't a household name until recently. But people generally don't like or trust politicians, so this actually kinda works in his favor. Plus, the national non-profit he founded and ran for 7 years is more akin to what people wish public service looked like anyways.

So today begins a 17-day bus tour of Iowa, where volunteers have already made hundreds of thousands of calls in the past week and hundreds more volunteers from all over the country have come to Iowa to canvass and talk to voters directly. The great thing about Iowa is it's the perfect place to counter the forces that have worked against us. Reaching voters directly instead of relying on gatekeepers in the media, DNC and polling organizations. And the caucus system helps counter the "I like Yang but I don't think he can win" dynamic. Similar to ranked-choice voting (which Yang proposes at a national level) caucus participants get to cast their vote, but if their first choice candidate (hopefully Yang) doesn't reach a 15% level of support, the voter gets to cast their vote again for their second choice candidate. Iowa is also this year releasing the first, second and final tally totals, so we'll see very clearly if Yang has more support than the polls have been showing. And by exceeding expectations in Iowa we'll demonstrate the viability that people question, build momentum going into New Hampshire where we're already doing well, and onward to NV, SC and then the Super Tuesday states (including North Carolina) on March 3.

Still a lot of work to do and ground to make up, but if the early states go well, the next few months are gonna be very exciting.

Yang just picked up a 7% ABC/WaPo national poll, 5% FoxNews national poll, 5% NBC News/Marist NH poll, and a 5% CNN NH poll means we're qualified for the February 7 debate

as Warren and Buttigieg have had their moments to surge and now are falling, the dominant choices are Biden and Bernie.

for people who aren't 100% convinced by those two options, they'll now start looking downballot again. They'll see Bloomberg (who has the lowest favorability ratings in the Dem field), Klobuchar and Yang (who has the highest favorability ratings in the general population).

Given the choice between having only one thing vs only one other thing, I do believe his claim that most people in Dayton, and probably most people generally, would rather have a guaranteed extra $1000/month. Good thing we can do more than one thing at a time.

I've said it before, but smears, misrepresentations and lies are probably not a good way to convince supporters of any candidate to make your preferred candidate their second choice.

is not the same as

Quote :
"I think that Bernie and I do have a lot of overlap in support so it wouldn’t be surprising to me if many of our supporters head in that direction"

Quote :
"Yang said he isn’t inclined to instruct supporters how to vote after the first round of voting, because, “I frankly think I’d have a hard time getting them to do anything that they’re not naturally inclined to do""

the alternating caps thing is wonderful. the respect it demonstrates really makes me excited to consider your point of view.
