but there is a lot of talk about its DPS being fine, esp with IAotH, and its quick speed being a hastle for casters in PvP.

plus, i dont play this game like you guys. this may be one of the few epics i will ever see, and im guessing it will be better than anything my hunter will have at 48

what kind of enchants, if any, can you get on a bow?

in 1v1 pvp vs casters you either want to nuke them with a slow speed high dmg wep, or try to interrupt their casting with pet+shots.

pet+shots can be removed with crowd control. You never get to stand still and just shoot unless your opponent is retarded.

And vs high armor classes that you'll want to kite. You only get to get off the occasional shot and you want it to do as much damage as possible. So again you want a slow speed wep.


In group pvp you always want a slow speed wep to nuke the healers in the other group.


Hurricane is level 48. At lvl 52 you can start AV. The quest reward for winning AV is an excellent pvp crossbow. http://www.thotbott.com/?i=40260


As for enchants, you can get +dmg enchants at a max of +7. These are pretty cheap too. Just find an engineer and see if they'll craft one for you for mats +tip/free or check the AH.

There is also a +3% to hit scope that is $texas. Its also rather pointless b/c by the time you got to the point where you could get the mats you'd be raiding. And raid hutner gear has tons of +hit.

Hurricane is item lvl 53. you can use at lvl 48

and that AV one has the same DPS as the hurricane, just slower speed.

I understand wanting the high crits for pvp but for PVE and raiding wouldnt a more consisten DPS with lower crits but quicker hits (using AotH and rapid fire when it procs) be better for both aggro and come out to approx the same amount of damage?

Wouldn't Hurricane be much better off than it used to be since they normalized multi- and aimed shot?

But it's still not worth keeping over selling, it's low level, eats arrows and there are better ones that are easy to get. Aggro isn't a problem with a good tank, and you still have FD if you rip off a bunch of high crits.

you'd probably be more likely to rip aggro off a quick bunch of crits during aoth/rapidfire with hurricane since you're doing damage faster than the tank can gain aggro.

and its really really gonna tear thru arrows.

i mean it comes down to

A) keep it, do more damage when you hit lvl 48
B) sell it, get the xbow at lvl 52. Be better for pvp


Doing slightly more damage for 4 levels is not really worth the extra cash that you could save up for an epic mount at 60.

im %crit hunter all the way

always in the top 2 on the damage meter in any raid we do.

i hardly ever pull agro because the tanks in our guild know what they are doing.

IF i pull agro, one of two things will happen.

1) the tank stance dances to intercept

2) i use an agro reducing ability (disengage) or wipe agro completely (feign death)


sometimes i want to be able to pull agro and keep it. like a bad pull when there are extra mobs that cant be CCed. or when a mob comes out of CC and goes straight for the priest that just had their heal spell Crit. there is nothing wrong with being able to do high burst damage if you know how to play a hunter. besides, the tank should have established a strong position on the threat meter before you start DPSing anyway.

as for which is better... there is no absolute answer for that. there are different ways to play the hunter class. it just depends on your play style and how how you distribute your talent points.

Thats what I used to be like in MC, now I throw my mage alt in there as the only things I need for my shaman are from rag, and we havent got to him yet, working on shaz right now.

Shamans actually have this ridiculous Agility to crit ratio. It's something like 19 points of Agility = 1% chance to crit. So if he's wearing all rogue gear with a bunch of agility buffs it might be possible.
