Smiths arm isn't a big deal. He'll be ready for the start of the season, and this will just give LaFell, Edwards, Jarrett, Gettis, and Moore extra reps in practice and in the preseason.

the only thing you can criticize smith for is breaking the agreement in his contract that said he can't play football if its not related to the NFL and Panthers

We don't know who the QB is going to be and now we don't even have anyone to throw to. You can't throw to Smitty every down and expect to be better than last season. We could use some experience back there with inexperience at the QB position. It's not like they would stay on the roster for ever, but it sure wouldn't hurt to have them a season or two.
