1a) 3 or 4. Unless I'm drinking pretty slow. Then I can put down 5 or 6 before feeling a good buzz.
1b) I think I'm drunk after drinking around 8 or 9.
1c) I can't get belligerent just drinking beers unless I'm shotgunning or chugging them. I have to mix in shots to get belligerent while drinking beer.

2) Will only get judged answering this question, because I've had a shit-ton of beers and still driven fine. But I can feel "comfortable" driving after drinking about 5 or 6 beers.

3) I don't like to have more than 3 beers if I'm going out on a weekday (or any night that I just want to go out "soft").

4) Nope...but chances are we aren't going to be that close. That being said...I do have one good friend who is completely sober (drugs and alcohol...had major problems in both situations). We get along great.

5) I enjoy both. Don't drink alone that often...but when I do, it's not to get drunk...its usually to enjoy a good beer, and that usually with a good meal.


And fuck...I just love beer. I love the cheap shit (could drink cold PBR and High Life all day) and the expensive good shit too (gimme some Bells, Rogues, Stones, Averys, Sammy Smiths, Allagash, etc). The beer rep at a bar that I do the buying for gets mad at me because she'll pull out a beer to try and after she's popped the cap and we're tasting it I'll tell her that I already love it and give her the reasons why. She'll be like, "John, why the fuck are we trying this beer when you've already had it and want to buy it?? You've had every god-damned beer I bring in here!" To which I reply..."why the hell should I turn down a free, good beer?? Now pour the rest of that shit."

New Belgium has a new seasonal out right now called Hoptober that is pretty tasty, it's got a lot of hop flavor but isn't super bitter like alot of the hoppier beers and it's very drinkable for being 6% ABV.


It's currently available at 6-12.

4. Nope. Have had a number of friends who didn't drink. They make great DD's. (If someone not only doesn't drink but doesn't ever want to go out, that could make things a bit difficult...)

5. No problem with having a beer or three alone, as I like trying new styles and brands (even when I was single, I had a beer more often than not with dinner) but no reason to get drunk alone. That's when it starts becoming a problem IMO.

Drinking New Belgium's Hoptober now. Definitely hoppy, but not a bad beer. I still like good pumpkin ales for fall brews. I've got some Highland Clawhammer Oktoberfest in the fridge to try sometime too.

Right now, one of my favorites is the Sam Adams Imperial White. At 10.3%, it's awesome!
