Woodson said he wanted to learn more about NCSU before talking much about changes he might make, but said one thing he wants is for the university to do a better job of telling its story.

"This is a classic example of a land-grant university," he said. "We're good at hiding our light under a basket and not talking enough about the things that we do."

Land-grant institutions, a category that also includes Purdue, were created with the help of 19th century federal acts inspired by the industrial revolution to teach agriculture, engineering and science.

Part of getting NCSU's word out, he said in an interview with The News & Observer later in the day, is excellence in athletics. He described himself as a passionate supporter of college athletics and said that he understood its importance and tradition at NCSU.

"Sports brings a level of visibility to the institution, and it's a big part of the brand when it's done well," he said. "I will want them to pay as much attention to graduation rates as they do to rankings."

If the guys that could get Fowler fired haven't done anything by now I guess they aren't going to do anything at all. Why won't Fowler just retire already? And that's much, much nicer than what I wanted to say.

Surely he knows that he doesn't have what it takes to get us out of the conference cellar. Either that or the people in the psychology department could write their thesis on whatever delusion the guy has. I guess it's fairly obvious that the administration doesn't have a focus on winning. Just graduation rates... wait, aren't those low for the conference as well? Must be the facilities. It's like the games only exist to bring in the revenue to pay the arena's electric bill.

The facilities were built for games, not games for the facilities.

I'd feel better if they'd just go ahead and have a press conference to come out and admit it.

Haven't you learned by now that NC State doesn't give a flying fuck about its alumni? I don't think they pay much attention to the fan base either. Which is probably a good thing, because if they listened to the fan base, we'd have a new coach every 2 years.

He has a job because the chancellor is the only person who can fire him, and the chancellor(s) have chosen not to. Ask Oblinger why he didn't fire Fowler. I'm sure he has a reason.

(I do not support Fowler by any means but I'm not under the delusion that he's going anywhere no matter how we feel about it)

Grammar skills include capitalization of proper letters. Someone could easily come along and call you a lazy dumb ass for not doing that. Also when you say "its clear", that should be "it's clear" to show that you mean "it is clear". It is called a contraction. Not sure if you noticed, but it's and its are different fucking words.
