Still not convinced that he's the reason they've won their last few games. He's had some damned lucky final drives
Either it's been stout D or they've played inept offenses, but they've won ONE game with Tebow in control when the opponent has scored more than 15 points.
Can we please knock off the religion stuff. Let this be about him as a player. Just because he doesn't separate the two doesn't mean that we shouldn't.11/18/2011 12:52:53 PM |

I started this thread with it being about the player, and frankly it was going that way until the atheist made it about religion.
I'm an agnostic, so Tebow saying a lil prayer or whatever after a big play has no effect on me, its not like its new or anything. The thread wasn't about that, it was about everyone saying that he can't and then he goes and proves that he can.
I get that you don't like him pushing his religion, I agree with that. I thought the abortion commercial during the super bowl as a bit much. However, if I feel that he's talking about God too much, I just tune it out or change the channel. I also think its very hypocritical of atheists to try to shove their atheism down people's throats under the guise of hating on religious people doing the same. My gf does that sometimes and I remind her that she's doing the same thing that's hatin on.
From my experience, atheists will tell everyone they know, and ramble on for fucking ever about how religion is bad and atheism is good; and the very minute someone presents and opposing point of view, they're quick to be all "ZOMG YOU'RE SHOVING RELIGION DOWN MY THROAT". And I think that's just a complete horseshit way to be. 11/18/2011 12:58:14 PM |

That touchdown run set a new (very specific) NFL record. According to Elias, Tebow's touchdown run was the longest game-winning touchdown run by a quarterback in the final minute of the fourth quarter in NFL history

The other two longest QB runs to win a game were in OT. Vick had a 46 yard run. And I think Vince Young had the other. Can't remember what they said his was.

LOL at Tebow pushing his religion because a TV camera is always watching him. Like I said he didn't immediatley drop to one knee after the TD, he Mile High Saluted just like very other muslim, jew, atheist Bronco before him.
Like someone said before, I've done a 180 with my thoughts on Tebow. Once I was as simple minded as the one who drinks pee, but I realized that it was really the media hype that I didn't like. Simple fact is, he's winning games. Yes, the Bronco D is much improved since Tebow took over, but could that also be because he doesn't turn the ball over and force the D into bad situations?

that pretty much sums it up. i've never seen Tebow push his religion on anyone and AFAIK, we live in a free country that allows freedom of religion, so you don't have a leg to stand on. if you're against Christianity in general and want to talk about it, go to the Soap Box.
i actually love Tebow as a person and has a lot of character and a real competitive spirit... he's a natural born leader... but he's a pretty terrible QB when it comes to passing... i mean terrible.

Can we get back on topic? TEBOW SUCKS AS A QB. Just because your team is winning does not make you a good QB. They had to change the offense because TEBOW CAN'T COMPLETE THE TASKS OF A QB. 11/18/2011 2:02:49 PM |

once again, if Denver tried to trade Tebow, what do you think they could get for him? I think this is the thought experiment that shows he's worth nothing.

It's just that Orton was playing terribly and his team seemed to have quit on him (lord knows the fans had).
Doesn't mean Tebow doesn't ALSO suck as a quarterback.

I honestly don't know what the hell John Fox's staff is trying to do right now, but sports radio out here in Denver (i know, consider the source...) is speculating that Elway and Fox don't want to keep Tebow, and were hoping to show he couldn't do what a QB needs to do in the NFL. 11/18/2011 7:18:00 PM |

My favorite part about that is that is not how the thread progressed, you know it and it is dishonest to present it otherwise.
My first statement was something to the tune of: tebow is a good qb and i like that, don't like that he is overtly religious.
Then everyone exploded and started attacking me with illogical and nonsensical arguments. So I defended myself.
I find it interesting that IF this were a thread about the genetic mutations of certain cancers and I had suggested it to be one way over the other and been wrong, the remarks wouldn't have been as absurd or attack me directly. But that is the problem with these belief structures, it makes you angry and volatile.
And, just to be a prick...I said that the thread had been derailed enough, if anyone felt the need to personally attack me further or if they just wanted to discuss the phenomena of religion then to feel free to message me. I guess the thread further being derailed is anecdotal evidence of religious people lacking reading comprehension.

Tebow can do whatever the fuck he wants to do. I don't like him because he supports movements I don't agree with...actually, don't agree with is too nice. I think they're atrocious movements. I think it's a lot more close-minded to think that people shouldn't be able to openly disagree or dislike someone becuase of their personal beleifs that they take every oppurtunity to make a public display of it? In your personal life, if you choose to put your faith in a religion, that's fine, plenty of ball-players do. Tebow is one of the few that makes a huge public display of it (not the media, him). How many ball players make as big a deal of it as Tebow? And that's why some people don't like him. And I don't see that as being close-minded.
What if he was a democrat, and painted "obama" on his face, and used interviews and commercials and touchdowns to spout liberal beliefs, would all you who defende him now defend him for that? Would not liking him for that be close-minded?11/21/2011 9:25:05 AM |

And no, I don't like River's personal beliefs in that theater either. I don't like my dad's views on some things. Doesn't mean I hate either one of them. Doesn't even mean I don't like either of them on the whole.

No, he was saying that there is clearly an inverse relationship between intelligence and religiosity. You calling science a religion is dishonest, wrong, and stupid. Scientists don't believe in scientific facts because they want to, they believe in them because it's where the evidence leads.
If the evidence led to the notion of an all-powerful, all-loving creator that looks out for us then that would be the science. It didn't. It's time to grow up.
