Here's a link to the spotters guide for this weekend's Rolex 24. The only 3 drivers I see in the field that have NASCAR starts are Jaun Pablo Montoya (DPi), Austin Cindric (GTD), and AJ Allmendinger (GTD). There are a lot of drivers in there with Indy Car starts.

Anyone watching the Rolex? Cindric is having a pretty good run. They are staying in the top 10 out of 23 in GTD.

Good going for the guy that ran it. Took a hobby and sold it for a lot of money to ESPN.

My main use out of it was the team/driver chart.

Cooper Webb won his 2nd Supercross main event of the young season this past weekend in Oakland and is leading the points. Carteret County represent!

"The 2019 eNASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series sees the introduction of official teams into the series. Teams including Joe Gibbs Racing, Jr Motorsports, Wood Brothers Racing, Williams Esports and G2 Esports will participate in the driver draft on January 30th and will each select two drivers to represent them in the only officially sanctioned NASCAR eSports series in the world.

Several new teams have joined the series, in addition to the previously announced teams. Roush Fenway Racing, JTG Daugherty Racing and Burton Kligerman Esports round out the 12 teams in the series.

Official eNASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series Teams Draft Order:
Wood Brothers Racing
Flipside Tactics
Jr Motorsports
G2 Esports
Joe Gibbs Racing
Williams Esports
Burton Kligerman Esports
JTG Daugherty Racing
Clint Bowyer Racing
Roush Fenway Racing
Richmond Raceway Esports
Team Renegades

Teams will draft from the pool of 40 drivers who have qualified for the series through iRacing – qualification was based on past performance in the eNASCAR PEAK Antifreeze iRacing Series and the Pro Series qualifying series that recently completed. Each team will draft two drivers who will represent them throughout the 2019 championship. Drivers will be racing with team designed cars and will compete for the $100,000 prize pool."

Does anyone else think eSports in general being a thing represents the death of something? Not sure what that something is...

Video game tournaments are only a few days younger than video games. Humans will make a competition out of any activity. If something died, it died a long time ago.

There were always tournaments but no one gave a shit. In a world where no one young driving a car well coming up can get sponsorship we're giving out $100000 for a guy to operate his computerized car best. Why? Is there an audience for this?

^william Bryon started on iracing. It's a benefit to drivers if anything.

Drivers needing to bring a sponsor is nothing new.

Is there a ride buyer at any of the top teams? I cant really think of one. I mean...menard...but that sponsorship is basically keeping the wood brothers running. Austin and ty run for their grandpas team but rcr hasnt been a top team for a whiiile. But who at jgr, hendrick, penske, shrbis a ride buyer? I feel like all those guys deserve to be where they are. Maybe besides suarez...i just dont think hes good, but he brings that arris sponsor

room of doom coming to nascar!
Quote :
"NASCAR announced it will take wins away from cars found to be illegal after races. It will complete postrace inspection entirely at the track β€” within 90 minutes of the checkered flag β€” and strip the trophy, points and money of a winner who got to victory lane by cheating. The second-place car will then move up and be named the winner, while the cheating team would be scored last.

Well of course those teams don't, those are factory teams. But look at all of NASCAR, not just Cup. (Or look at formula racing, go-karts, short-track, pretty much anything. European-based formula racing pre-Formula E there were maybe a dozen paying jobs total and the whole ladder system was setup to give kids the lie they could one day be one of them.)

Anyone catch the San Diego Supercross this past weekend? The Southern California riders that think dirt bike racing is meant to be dry, dry, and dry must be hating this season so far.

i think we are going to see tandem drafting for the last 3 plate tracks and prob other tracks too. i was a fan of that style compared to just riding around in a pack at half throttle

Supercross from San Diego last weekend. The championship promoter, Feld Entertainment, put down a bunch of lime to dry the track. I guess they normally do this, but this time it's caused burns and rashes to every rider pretty much and trashed all their bikes.

Quote :
"Those base changes will be in place at every race next season with the intent of adding downforce to stabilize handling, a break from a trend of downforce reduction from 2015-18.

Five races at larger ovals are exceptions. Both Pocono events and races at Atlanta, Darlington and Homestead will use the smaller tapered spacer, but will not use the aero ducts that transfer air to the side of the car away from the front tires. Neither the smaller spacer nor ducts will be used at short tracks and road courses.

Events at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway also will be contested without restrictor plates next season for the first time since 1987. The cumulative effect of the base aerodynamic changes, engine restrictions and aero ducts are expected to keep the speeds and competition close to their current style of racing. The exception is the 2019 Daytona 500, which will be held under the current rules with restrictor plates."

Hard to tell much of anything other than the Ford engine in Menard's car was pretty good, which means the other Fords were very good and they were sandbagging. The rain made the race herky jerky. But it was probably best for the event that they red flagged it there, they only had 8 cars still circulating. There was a Talladega Busch race years ago where they had the massive wreck right at the start of the race and it destroyed the whole event. I think they had 2 cars on the lead lap at the end, 3rd was 1 lap down, 10th was many laps down. Last year's Daytona 500 almost approached that but I feel like with how many idiots out there you have driving and how the cars react to aero now, that's going to happen some time.

Wood Brothers Twitter showing a picture of Jim France on pit road talking. I wonder if there's an underlying message in this?

Quote :

? @woodbrothers21

Just sitting here thinking, it’s such a nice and encouraging sight to see the absolute tip top boss man in NASCAR, leaned up against a generator cart on pit road. Tells you his level of dedication."
