Anybody else done the math on this?

50% are gonna be the wrong sex
about 22% age 35-44
of those, about 10-15% are in shape. Maybe not great athletic shape...just from a BMI standpoint
roughly 30% have at least a 4-year degree

Just from that starting point, we're already down to about 0.3% of the population.

It's going to be depressingly low regardless, but I think you may be double-counting a bit. Like, is there any significant overlap between those who fall into the fit and 4-year degree categories?

yeah I thought about that. you're right, I'm simplifying for lack of data granularity.

^^ OK I found some data. I think it was CDC?

4-year degree, at least on average across all ages, is somewhere around 35-40% lower rate of being overweight/obese.

So yeah...that gets us maybe almost to a half percent.

Yeah that sounds about right.

haha I don't really even think about finding a serious relationship. I mean that would be great, but so would winning the lottery. I count it as a win if I find a good looking woman who's fun to hang out with and I manage to keep things going for 2-3 months. After that they always want more commitment, and I just am not wired to bullshit them.

^^ 9/11 was our 2nd anniversary!

Wow, what a wild ride it's been for the last 2 years (doesn't feel like 2 years, more like 9-12 months). We moved in together July 2023, first into my studio, and then properly together into a 2-room place last Oct/Nov.

I will reply again with more details in the coming days.

So….I used “university degree” as a proxy for relatively smart, educated, and at least a little bit successful in life.

But there are plenty of dumbasses with a 4 year degree, or people who for one reason or another are doing menial things even with a university education.

And then we forgot to factor in what percentage are married or otherwise attached.

I think we’re down to a tenth or two of a percent…and then you can start figuring out which ones of those you’re actually compatible with, who doesn’t otherwise suck somehow.

And then maybe one of them will like you too. Hahaha
