I was in on the beta for WoW, only time i've ever played a MMORPG.

It was like a black hole.

I loved this game, but am actually AFRAID to go buy it.

First off, trying to call out Diablo III in a WoW thread is pretty funny considering how similar the two are. Yea, WoW has auto attack but you still have spam your buttons depending on your class. As for repetitive, call me crazy but I'm pretty sure every class in WoW does the same exact thing in ever instance in the game with only a difference in timing. Now Top down RPG's may not be your thing and thats cool but lets not pretend like WoW has an eye opening amount of variation or button sequences either.

As for World of Starcraft, Lokken is right. It would be pretty difficult to pull off which makes me think that despite my boner for the concept, the game won't see the light of day for a very very long time if ever. It would need a combination of elements from EvE, SWG, WoW and Planetside (if it were to resemble an FPS) or KOTR (if not) for it to be really interesting. We were discussing this with Shrike the other night and he brought up a good point that the SC universe simply didn't have enough lore present to spin off an MMO. I think they'd have to release a new RTS and xpac to build that storyline up a bit.

Yea but think about that MMO.

How are you going to have guilds? Everyone is a part of Starfleet.

Also:

1) The PvP at release will be LOL.

2) I'm pretty sure there's going to be a MASSIVE time investment required to be able to captian a ship

3) Who really wants to be Ensign #3 since the company developing it has already stated that the number of commisioned starships would be capped.

4) They'd need some pretty sweet puzzles to make up for a lack of pvp.

5) You wont have Goerdi or Scotty. Everyone knows those two are the only ones that could successfully reroute power conduits to the main deflector dish and save the starship.

why do I always drop to 5 FPS during AoE rooms or fights like Vael o0

1600x1200 max settings but I get the same results with 1024x768 all spell detail etc turned low.
40-50FPS in open areas. 30 FPS in cities. 5 FPS during certain encounters.

XP 2800+ ((I'm hoping this is why))
1GB dual channel DDR

I picked up that slickdeal with A64 3400+ and the pos biostar mobo.

I'm fairly certain Blizzard employs some sort of frame limiting based on how much shit is going on server side at any given time. But yeah, everyone that has played WoW has noticed that phenomen. You could have a nitrogen cooled 5ghz Conroe with quad GPUs and standing on the bank in a crowded Org would still drop you to 12 fps.

well a couple people with quad SLi have 60 FPS in the supression room.

I'm just talking about having my DPS drop to nothing during Vael because i cant spam SS fast enough >.<

My favorite part is when it lags for about 15 seconds during a boss fight. Its always a joy to see how long a MT can survive during this.

^ yeah but im on a low pop server, so we usually never get instance lag. This is usually always the POS computer people screaming out lag! when everyone else with decent systems keep going fine.
