^ you asked a bunch of questions that are impossible to answer right now. If AA leaves the alliances then it depends on when and what time period they give to use points on partner flights. Way too much up in the air to even guess.

If you go ahead and book a ticket now and cancel in Nov know that you will need to pay a pretty steep fee to have your points reinstated unless you book an AAnytime ticket, which is way more points than the AA Saver ticket. You will also need to pay a fee to reschedule a flight on a partner airline.

Thanks, I don't really follow the mileage programs that closely so I thought someone might have a little more insight. I guess I'll just wait a couple months to book a flight in January '15 and hope there's no major changes.

^ yup but I would rather have the security of seeing the money instantly than wait for a check in the mail (and have to deal with the issues if it never shows up). Mine was a pretty significant amount so it was even more important to have the money in hand before giving over access.

Picked up the Discover It card with the 150 sign up bonus. Seems like a decent enough 5% cash back card with free monthly fico score and no annual fee.

However, score updates could happen more frequently, depending upon certain changes to the cardmembers credit report; like applying for new credit or refinancing a mortgage. Cardmembers will then receive an email alert notifying them that their score has changed."

That isn't FICO though. Discover offers Transunion which is still meh. Believe CK is Transunion also but shows about 40pts lower than what Discover showed.

My 80k IHG pts hit last month, now I just need to figure out how to convert those wisely.

I have met my spend for the 55k chase UR card, they'll probably hit next month.

I found this to be useful.

http://saverocity.com/travel/the-best-hyatt-properties-worldwide-to-use-your-2-free-nights-from-the-hyatt-card/

I'm not about to blow my hyatt reward on some $150 a night property.

I really need to ramp up my hotel pts in 2014.
I have half a mil in airline miles chilling at the moment.

Probably varies with how much you're selling. Think I got about 1.5c/pt last May but that was for about 125k.

^^ hold that thought. Let me see how much I can get for that plus what I have now.

Nothing to base this on, but I think that's pretty solid. Who is the quote from?

https://sellmyrewards.com would give you 930$ for those 62k points

I think most probably use Bruce. I requested a quote from them but they were a little slow in responding and Bruce seemed to be on top of things. They ended up responding with an offer of about $150 more but I had already transferred the points. I may try them the next time I need to offload points since you can avoid the 2.9% paypal fees.

Did not know this. I assume even though I met my spend before the end of the calendar year but the points haven't hit yet that this won't apply until next year? Or maybe it's on your anniversary? I guess I should at least keep the card until then

I called to cancel my AA Citi card last night before the fee hit and they gave me $95 instead. I need to shut some cards down, but I actually like this one since it gives me stuff. I'll shut down my Ink and Amex gold cards first I think.

The only reason I'd shut this one down at this point is so I can get it again sooner, but how long do you generally have to wait to get the 50k bonus again?

I was able to get AA to credit me the annual fee although I had to call before it hit.
I think you're supposed to wait 18 months before churning the same card.
I'm on my third unique citi AA card at the moment.

So if you're churning that card why are you holding on to it? Not being a dick, just wondering your thought process on whether I should cancel or hold it

I would have cancelled it, but they said they'd give me an additional thousand miles, plus I think I got an anniversary bonus, plus right now they are doing 5% back at grocery stores. Since I was going to get a bunch of miles from the citi aa business card bonus I figure a few thousand on top of that could net me some additional cash. I think most repeat bonuses are based off of when you opened the card or last received the bonus, not cancellation date, so wasn't too concerned about that. Plus there are other cards I want to get before I come full circle and start all over again. In addition I've leveraged open cards in the past to get additional cards by moving credit around.

what is your guys experience getting AMEX to waive their annual fee? At this point, I'm only holding onto my skymiles card for the delta benefits (free bags, etc) and I'm no longer expensing the fee so I don't really want to pay for it this year

I find it irritating when they cant give you a quote without haveing to fill out that information. I think that is sellmyrewards best feature in that you enter in your points with your specific card, and then it spits out an amount.

Their calculator is a bit off but it's nice to get a general idea. Think their offer actually ended up being about 1c/pt (~$140) less than what the calculator showed but it was still over $100 more than Bruce.

Has anyone here redeem their award points for a trip to Italy? I have 45k chase points and 50k Amex points. I am trying to figure the best way for my wife and I to get there in the August timeframe.

Doesn't look like I can transfer to AA, perhaps BA
