I can't stomach those tails. Just awful design.
Video on the racetrack is also awful. Tons of body roll and lack of limited slip on so-called M235i. Car offerings by other manufacturers at third of the price offer limited slip. BMW is treating is like some special feature! Wtf!
What is SO different from 135i? What is different from 2007 E90 335i that you can now buy for $11-12k. Same fucking engine, same power, same suspension design. Ok, they improved torsional rigidity (as they always do) by X%, and shaved two grocery bags worth of weight...big fucking deal.
Entire BMW lineup is just disaster. I have not desire to own any of the turbo cars. Might stock up on yet another low mileage E39. Get em while they last.

No sir, I would drive that all day long.
Think about it that car is epic except the engine eats it's self. That supra engine built like that will last indefinitely. That's a "low boost" engine for a 2jz.
And they sound amazing even though they weigh too much.
Next I'd do a coyote ford swap... Then an ls. As far as engines that would work well there. 11/13/2013 3:31:20 PM |

i never compared or stated S62 is the most reliable engine, but it certainly doesn't destroy itself.
Coyote engine? Really? The one that makes more power than S62 in a car that weighs 400lb less than E39 and still traps the same speed as E39. Yeah, that makes sense.11/14/2013 2:26:40 PM |

BMW M3 and M4 Official Production Version Pics, Specs, and Videos
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=923203
Goddamn, the M3 is utterly gorgeous, and looks hell of a lot sexier, beefier, and more beautiful than the M4
Don't miss the videos showing the cars in action.
The M4 is 3,300 lbs wet. The M235i (see top of page) is quoted at 3,366 lbs.
So... the M4 has 100 hp more, and is slightly lighter than the M235i... damn

I'll believe that when an independent tester puts it on the scales. That site also states:
Quote : | "M4 Lighter by 176 pounds from E92 M3" |
For whatever reason the weight of the E92 M3 varied greatly. I saw several sources report it's weight to be right around 3700lbs.
Still, fantastic news! Better than the anti-climatic Mustang unveiling.12/12/2013 8:21:28 AM |

^E92 M3 is 3700lb. Lightest 335i was manual E92 at 3550lb.
F80 M3 is 176lb ligher than the outgoing E92 M3, so don't worry about underweight lies BMW puts out. Just subtract 3700-176= ~ 3500lb will be the real world weight.
im sick and tired of laden, unladen, wet, dry, semi-wet, with driver, without driver, no fuel, fuel and what not. It is all manipulating nonsense to "confuse and conquer" the consumers.
New F80 M3 has the identical bore/stroke and compression ratio as 2007 N54 335i. Not similar, but IDENTICAL. Pathetic. Cost savings in full effect. bmw=big marketing win.
buy low mileage e92 m3 and keep up with maintenance. they will hold value.

All of it? I could get behind that. Why won't they just help pay a car payment? Does it have to be a lease? 12/17/2013 8:49:09 PM |
dtownral Suspended 26632 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, all of it. You can only use it for a lease, it's in the company's name and not mine. I'm assuming they get a bigger tax deduction for a lease than if they bought vehicles, and by leasing they don't have to manage a fleet, but I don't really know. It's intended to use for trucks, but since my field is all in industry where I just need a car I chose a car. And since trucks are so damn expensive, it turns out you can lease a lot of car for the same amount as a pretty boring truck.
If I go on a trip or vacation I do have to pay the mileage back since it's not being charged to a client, but it's a pretty negligible amount. And its offset by being able to use it for general around town driving and being able to expense most of my fuel. Or I can just work while I'm on vacation and make sure I have enough billable hours

A render of the upcoming 4-Series GranCoupe, based on leaked patent drawings. It is the "4-door coupe" based on the 3-Series, the smaller sibling to the 6-Series GranCoupe.
Probably will be shown in Geneva in March.

OEPII1, I dunno where that site got those figures but that's about 200lbs lighter than what Autoblog's test vehicle weighed.
The new 235i costs around $45k, has 320hp and weighs 3553lbs. What the fuck is the point of this vehicle? It's supposed to be the 135i's replacement and yet somehow it gained 250lbs?
Seriously wtf is going on over there?

^agreed. And that's something that has been annoying me for a while. You would think that part of owning a luxury car is having outstanding reliability. Automakers used to pride themselves on that. Why they don't anymore is beyond me.
Quote : | "Buying a BMW and expecting the maintenance to be same as Honda is about as realistic as buying a Honda and expecting to drive like a BMW" |
Let's take a fan favorite as an example here, an E36 M3. Please enlighten me as to what part of the BMW's driving experience makes it impossible to be more reliable than an Accord. Hell, a contemporary Accord of the day had the superior suspension design. Also let's not pretend that the Integra Type R wasn't a more balanced and satisfying car to drive than the majority of BMWs from that era.

fool and TKE, neither of you have owned ANY bmw for any length of time. You do not have any perspective on actual costs of short or long term ownership. I have owned both Honda and BMW brands.
Quote : | "lease enlighten me as to what part of the BMW's driving experience makes it impossible to be more reliable than an Accord." |
C'mon that's easy and you are playing dumb. You know damn well BMW is more complex from suspension, engine, electricals. I'm pretty sure your average 1997 E36 M3 has more parts and way more electrical diagrams than 1997 Accord. Vanos, limited slip, traction control, all existed on 1997 M3 and not on 1997 Accord. Should I get into 5 link IRS with zillion bushings? Should I get into solid lifters on E46 M3 valve adjustments, electronically actuated ITBs on E39 M5, dual VANOS etc. Of course it will be costlier to maintain in the short or long term run.
