i guess i didn't watch him much early on but i felt like he took a lot of shots he couldn't make early on and then he started making them.
And his defense became solid without giving up stupid fouls. I dunno... it got to a point where i wasn't upset when howell got in foul trouble as long as we took him out of the game 5/2/2012 1:04:37 PM |

And how about the 3-4 games after that, where he just jacked up bricked shots. I love the guy and he was a big body and scary looking mother fucker, but that shot was very inconsistent.

It seems more likely that TDT will have a better chance at contributing well next year. He's already big enough to bang inside and towards the end of the season, he seemed a lot more confident on both ends of the court, albeit in one minute intervals of mop-up time.
Vandy hasn't but it together yet. He's big enough to be effective at deflecting shots, but rebounding and scoring haven't come as naturally as one would like. He still needs to add bulk, but there's no doubt he's athletic enough to play. I still remember the slam dunk contest his freshman year and he was incredible. I didn't think a guy his size could control the ball like he did. It'll be interesting to see how the shoulder heals up and how he finds his way into the rotation.5/2/2012 1:25:41 PM |

He was double figures in his first three games and 4 out of the first 7 (including Indiana). He reached double figures TWICE in the next 30 games.
Yeah...our schedule obviously got tougher...but he came out on fire with that mid-range jumper. He actually started bricking it towards the end of the year. I'm not arguing this with you anymore...because the bottom line was that he was an extremely solid back-up and he will be severely missed if TDT and/or Vandy don't step it up (Harris is irrelevant).
But Painter did not start out "kind of shitty" at all.5/2/2012 1:26:01 PM |

Centers and Power Forwards that Tyler Harris could not fathom guarding:
Henson/Zeller/Withey/Robinson/Reggie Johnson/Mike Scott/Miles Plumlee/Mason Plumlee/Alex Len/Cody Zeller...
And those are just teams we played last year. Therefore, losing Painter hurts MUCH MORE than losing Harris.5/2/2012 1:51:07 PM |

It really only hurts us if someone gets injured. So yes...it hurts the depth. But if everyone stays healthy, this guy was going to get the same minutes as he did last year. I want Warren on the court at the 4 before I want to see Harris. Same goes if we sign Jefferson.
So yes...because he's not a 5 or a big 4...he doesn't really help us.5/2/2012 2:21:14 PM |

Quote : | "Five schools have contacted Coastal Carolina forward Sam McLaurin highlighted by two major conference programs. McLaurin tells WPDE Sports he's heard from Virginia, Illinois, Drake, Western Kentucky and UAB. Alabama-Birmingham has former Coastal Carolina assistant Richie Riley on the staff. The three year starter for the Chanticleers received his release on Monday. He will not be allowed to transfer to another Big South school or a school on CCU's 2012-13 schedule. McLaurin has one year of eligibility remaining and will not have to sit out as he pursues a law degree following his graduation from Coastal in May. McLaurin does not have any visits scheduled, and is expected to hear from more schools." |

I'm disappointed he left, but not nearly as disapointed as painter. I thought harris would be a big contributor by his junior or senior year. I wasn't expecting much from him next year, although he might have been called on if we have an injury. Hopefully we won't have an injury, and he can be replaced this year or in 2013. 5/2/2012 2:33:55 PM |

I get it dumbass. We just don't have a law school (wasn't there some rumor about us absorbing Campbell's law school??). I find it interesting that they mention a specific degree...normally these transfer students just try to find anything that their old school doesn't offer. And a law degree isn't what they normally settle in.

We need another big-man who can match up with the other team's "5's", when Howell and CJL go, and I don't think Harris would have ever been that guy. TDT, maybe.5/2/2012 2:49:24 PM |

I swear to god its like I’m talking to a brick wall sometimes. Most players don’t care what program they go into because all they care about is playing basketball for one more year. These guys aren’t going pro, at least not domestically, so this is their last shot. The field of study isn’t as important as the opportunity. But when you see a guy pursuing a law degree, its evident he has higher aspirations than the Parks and Rec or African American studies degrees most of these kids go for. Thumbs up to the kid for caring about his future, thumbs down to you for once again failing to grasp even the basic outline of an argument. 5/2/2012 2:52:15 PM |

TBDV cannot "adequately" match up with the biggest and strongest guys on the other team. we only need one guy to match up w/ whatever 4 on the other team is stronger (b/c only unc has 5s). harris will never be the only forward on the floor. therefore, he helps. he can't do it on his own, but that goes w/o saying. i can't believe i had to say that.5/2/2012 3:21:21 PM |

first off, we never lost 6 in a row...and his name is MARK.
but, only TDT and Alex Johnson were recruited by Gottfried, right? So that whole "wanting to playing his players" thing doesn't even add up...TDT, the only freshman the Gottfried recruited, didn't play significantly more than Harris. I understand wanting playing time, but that's just a stupid quote.
