Okay, so I've d/l'd the 10-day trial... do I really want to buy this game? So far, it's quite good for the first 4 levels

Gameplay reminds me of GuildWars, and hardly anything like the classic MMO of EQ... so I'm pretty impressed so far.

Worth it?

I picked up a Zboard MERC a few months back, and I really enjoy it. I primarily use it for Battlefield 2142, but it also works very well with WoW. I'm not particularly crazy about the WoW preset key layout, so I just use my own instead.

theres ALWAYS a risk, dont get me wrong... but if you know what your doing the chance goes down dramatically

Wowglider will get u banned period. The reason I say this is that I used profiles only made by Merc for a close group of people and I lost my account. You will get banned I'd put money on it. Just give it a little time and you'll come crying back about losing your account.

Oh and there's also the fact that Merc said himself that its detectable, maybe you should pay attention to that little comment as well.

play wow with cedega, take wow sharp code, convert it to plain c++
problem solved. wow can't inspect memory space outside the emu nor can it inspect processes outside of kernel and the uid cedega is run under. even how well it can parse a linux process list is questionable

if you are on your 1st char, you def want to actually LEARN what you are doing.
if you are on an alt, just dl the jonas guide and spend the 100-115 hours getting 60 (less with power leveling)

not only that, but simply using the "fix" that allows you to play WoW in Linux can get you banned, WoW's client recognizes it as an unauthorized altering of their system, and will ban accounts for using it (but, like with all bans, it's not necessarily permanent, and this is one where they'll actually be likely to work with you and recover the account for you)

theres no "patch" necessary to run the windows client within cedega. maybe a patch to run the mac client directly in linux, but I'm not real familiar with that

My internet was out for like 3 days due to my roommate moving out and cancelling and such and just got it back today, I will admit I am an addict, try going 3 days without it and without anything else to do really and that will be a good sign. I pretty much slept like 12 hours a day which was probably a good thing actually.

it's more like if you log in from one IP and then 5 minutes later log in from another halfway around the world, that they get suspicious. It's highly unlikely that you will get "insta-banned" unless your account is already flagged for some reason and they're watching it. Even if you *do* get banned for that, it should be relatively easy to explain the situation to the account/fraud dept.

take all that loosely, i don't want to hear you got an irreversible perm. ban because of something i said oO

i played on a US server from england for about 10 months without a problem. that was over a year ago, but judging from the number of other internationals on my server, I doubt it would be an issue unless you appear to be country-hopping.

yeah... you won't get banned automatically, even blizzard isn't that stupid... they'll pay closer attention to your account though, so any suspicious behavior (leveling "too quickly", using programs that exploit wow) will be fished out immediately...

If anything my WoW addiction is going to get worse. I have my raiding rogue to get to 60. A druid at 22 that I am really liking and then I am going to be making my blood elf characters starting with a mage.

yeah, i'm starting to play again from now...i love being a druid but i'm also lvling a hunter.

I currently have 2 lvl 60 druids...(one horde and one alliance)
1 lvl 60 warrior
1 lvl 60 hunter
1 lvl twink hunter
1 lvl 1 pally (my banker)

and a few others....all between 2 servers though.

A handful of us are still on Medivh but that is a care bear server. If I had it to do over again I might think more about a PvP server, but my computer blew at the time so it would have been more frustrating than fun. And now that I have so much invested on this server that it would be hard to switch now anyways.

you know you could always transfer your character over to another server. not sure what you get to take with you as far as items, l00t, gold or if its just physically your character and nothing else.

you can't transfer to a pvp server unless you're coming from a pvp server

on a related note, I transferred my lvl 60 Alliance alt to server on a different battlegroup and my queue times went from 30+ mins for WSG/AB and 1 hr+ for AV to 3 mins and 10 mins
