Rogues can provide very good crowd control as well as damage mitigation for a group if played well.

A 'good' rogue does more than sit behind a target and spam sinister strike.

Hey Raige, what spec are you? I wanna hear from someone who's tried http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=Rf0Ec0bzLIzbZZVVGcoMxo or some variation of it. Basically have Spell Power, Ice Shards, and Shatter using Ice lance as their main nuke in PVP. Wouldn't work in PVE cuz it depends too much on getting targets frozen, but it could be downright nasty in PVP, dropping strings of 3k instacast nukes if you get some lucky frostbite procs.

To someone being ganked by one, it sure must seem like an easy class to play; and as all classes, if you've got the eq then it really is... but a warlock can usually tell a good warlock vs. a bad one.

For rogues, I'd say it's all about the stun-lock. But I'm not a rogue, so I really can't say how easy or hard it is to play one. But I do know that I haven't seen a single rogue who was expecting that howl-of-terror for no apparent reason right before I started capping the point in AB.

A good warlock will keep his succubus invisible to charm you for when you trinket out of his fear. A good warlock doesn't turn around to put dots on you as he's running. If he's a demonology lock, he'll use fel domination to pull out a voidwalker and immediately pop a bubble with him... or pull out a felhunter to eat the debuffs he has... Whenever I (a warlock) fight another warlock, if I see him use his spellstone to remove all my dots I know I'm screwed.

It's all about dotting in PvE, and maintaining high DPM among multiple targets; however in PvP a lock really has room to get creative.

Shrike, my spec, since I play solo most of the time is based around survival. If I was in a guild I'll probably do a spec more like yours or go fire.

Here's my spec.

The spec is designed for controlling mobs, people, max distances, resists. It's not geared for pvp or pve specifically. In fact it's not very good at all lol.

The elemental though is essential. It's what lets me whup some ass when I'm jumped. That pet does about 200dps, can freeze people in place, control groups of people. It's an interesting spec where my fire blast also has a good chance of stunning them.

I like your spec a lot and I might try it out to be honest. Of course this would mean that I give up the elemental which is a huge bonus. It's saved me so many times I don't know if I could.

Shit, I'm spec'd 10/48/3 (well in 4 levels) and have been pretty much full fire ever since my guild finished Molten Core back in the day. The possibilites of Ice lance are tempting as hell though and I just wanted to hear from someone who's trying a spec built around using it.

making my first character. Need to be alliance. I'm between a night elf hunter or rogue. I'm not set on those, but I want something that's easy enough to begin but also ends up satisfying...any suggestions?

I have a 61 NE hunter and they are pretty easy mode to play, can grind pretty easily do many quests solo that other classes cant, also very fun to pvp with. I also have a 60 rogue I dont play much at all anymore, that was my 2nd char I lvled and I did it mainly for grinding cash and having a disenchanting char at the time. Druid is one of the few I havent lvled but my buddy loved it, basically you get a bit of a warrior, rogue, and mage at the same time depending what kinda spec you go.

leveling to 60 is a joke. 2 weeks is all ya need with a solid group or decent twink gear. Sure you can do it in a week... if you don't like sleep.

Yeah once you have done it one or twice and know pretty much all the areas and can maximize quests/hour it doesnt take all that long. There are a few areas where ya get stuck not having many quests all in one area, but once ya lvl once or twice from grinding it picks back up quick.

or something close. The aoe freeze on blizzard is so worth it. when doing aoe. Having spell power too... mmm hmmm. I didn't use the elemental that much and typically when I couldn't do enough damage fast enough.

cant wait to get an arena weapon or a crafted weapon or any weapon with close to 500 top end.

4K heroic strikes now with only a 3.4 multiplier and 380 top end = SEX. couldnt imagine 500 top end

only 15 second cooldown on intercept, deathwish, and flurry with MS on top of that is hot too

no void axe is 333. crow wing reaper is what i have. 3 sockets, 381 high end, 3.4 spd. not my ideal weapon but good enough to hold me over till i get an axe or sword > 400 high end with stats.

Leveling affliction was the way I went. Just send in the VW, dot, dot, dot, maybe shadowbolt here or there and wand the thing down. Pretty easy.

So I am debating transferring my 60 rogue, shaman, and mage off the only server ive ever really played horde on somewhere else. I just find myself not wanting to login there anymore. I used to be the GM of the largest guild on the server, ended up like most guilds going through a painful breakup and although i have tons of friends still, I also have quite a few people Id rather not even have to deal with for various reasons. Everytime I login I get like 50 tells and so Id rather just move somewhere I can play in peace haha. Any suggestions?
