k.. so I'd hate to build a char to level 60 and then realize he sux... so when I get the game.. I'm gonna have someone give me an EXACT template to follow for my first char.. exactly where to put what for skills... might not be as fun as I'd like, but I won't be a total failure...

From looking at some chars, it looks somewhat similar to Diablo 2 in the skill framework... is this correct?

You don't have to worry about templates. In WoW you can respec your character very cheaply. So you can use one build for leveling and then change it. Some people respec daily and change their builds often. Its very cheap.

thats cool..wasn't trying to flame, just read "might not be as fun as I'd like, but I won't be a total failure" the wrong way...I agree, that if you suck at something its not as much fun, but I also think that learning how to play will make playing other characters more fun, otherwise you'll have to get another "template" if you want to roll something else.

Nash - You can spec anyway you want in WoW. Respeccing is rather cheap and easy. I've done over 20 respec's on my horde warlock. The only thing you have to be sure about is the role you want to play, whether thats DPS or healing.

Farmed both at the same time at Legion Hold in Shadowmoon Valley. Over 2000 kills there with about 30 fel armaments, 3-400 marks of sargeras plus a shitload of netherweave that I AH'd. I also got two Sash of Sealed Fate within 30 minutes of each other, nothing else special. That place is an awesome spot to farm because the Wrathwalkers drop in like 7 seconds and there are plenty even when there are people around.

^^you roll on it...haven't done anything with raids, but in a group (5 people or less) you have the option of doing a "greed" roll, a "need" roll, or pass. Need rolls take priority over greed rolls, and should only be selected if you need the item. Anyone can do either on an item, even if they can't use it.

Loot in a low level instance is determined by a roll. This is a feature automated by the game and you'll immediately understand how it works the first time you're in a group. There's a pretty low chance of any faghatry happening these days as most people in low levels are rerolls and the loot isn't that spectacular.

The party/raid leader can set the loot rules for the group and I don't really remember what those were since I leave it on Free for all or group depending on what the party members want.

In high end raid instances, where the loot is very important, distribution is handled by the guild (as only guilds run raid instances). Usually guilds employ the standard DKP tables, if you don't know what DKP is then you can probably google it. Generally this is pretty straight forward.

That is, off course, if you're in a raid with porcha in which case loot is distributed according to the following algorithm:

Is loot warrior ----(yes)--->Is loot good---(yes)---->assign to porcha

Yea, how about not really? The first respec is cheap, 1 G, but after that its rediculous, something like 10 G, 25 G then 50 G, then very slowly going down for time you don't respec.

That is if you're talking about talent points.

question..maybe very noobish, but i hit 60 two days before the expansion and never got around to getting my epic mount. go through all the steps for a lock, and now i need to go through dm west to get it. problem is i can't seem to use the LFG "tool" to look for a group for instances much lower than my level. Only outland instances show up, and i don't see any way of selecting any others. There doesn't seem to be any global chat groups anymore so whats the best way to get a group going? Hang around SW or IF for a while and see if anyone shows up? Does anyone actually run this any more when they can do outland? My guild sucks, only one guy on right now and never more than 4 or so on at once, so can't go that route. Any suggestions (besides get a better guild )?

^^yeah, no way to get it through blizzard's awesome LFG tool at your level. You could try looking for a bigger guild or make a post on your realm forum about it. But I think you're gonna be screwed since everyone is in outland.

how many bosses in karazhan total? main/'optional'? its a pretty open place. came in wednesday on our first night and just been running around exploring and fighting bosses on the way since killed 6 bosses that seemed legit, and another guy that seems like a side boss (some bat).

i like the whole atmosphere and openness a lot tho. i HATED the linear progress in BWL and stuff.
just makes it feel more like a legitimate place, and not some scripted instance

Why pick a rogue over ranged classes? Especially when space is limited in 5 mans

how do you combat it? Id love to know? You vanish and lose ALL dots so unless the rogue runs into a hunters flare or something he is gonna get away. Hunters mark is worthless as well
