I think most the foul calls on us have been fine. But we cannot draw a foul in the paint. It’s crazy. Refs always anticipate contact when a guard drives and usually prematurely call a foul. They never do that for us

It’s very fun to beat unc. That final 8 ish mins was pretty awesome (except the Ross missed dunk lol). We went from down 6, I think UNC had the ball with a chance to extend the lead, and our offense looked bad as hell. Then Joiner just took over.

I think Bacot was just fatigued at the end from guarding burns. We started getting rebounds and he wasn’t getting many touches offensively. Seemed like he was just give out and not getting good position.

Rewatching the game at home now. Caleb Love throws his head back on every play to sell the foul. It worked for him at least 3 times today where he wasn’t fouled. The one time it didn’t, he cried to the refs and got the technical.

So in terms of non state games, Syracuse/clemson is a biggish one bc is Cuse wins they might stay put of that quad 3 loss zone for us, plus also knocking clemson down. Clemson is already out of quad 1 zone for that away loss unfortunately.

^^ yeah and I think they’ve had some injuries too. So they’re probably a really good team. I don’t even know that we should be ranked. I do think the ACC’s reputation of being down (which is earned) plays into teams like us not getting on enough ballots.

^ at this point I think the most important thing is getting that top 4 spot. If a game we’ve already lost flips to Q3 then I don’t think that hurts us too much if we take care of business vs Clem and Wake.

I don’t know if we can reasonably play our way up to a 6 seed without going on a big run in the ACCT. But a 6 seed would be a great position to be in to go on a run in the NCAAT. It’s a lot harder to do if you’re in the 8/9 or 7/10 game.

Ross missed 2 1 and 1s when they were fouling on purpose.

And Joiner made 2 FTs when UNC fouled on purpose.

Bracket matrix (not updated since last nights Duke win over UL) has Duke as an average of 7 seed (as high as 6 in a handful of recent brackets) and as low as 10 in one single recent projection. Meanwhile State is an average 9 seed, highest seeding is 7 in recent brackets (a couple from a few days ago have us 6) and as low as 11 in recent brackets.

And not all Q1 wins are the same. Winning @ #74 is less impressive than winning vs #5 on a neutral court. But both are Q1s. NET and quads don’t tell the whole story.

I know it’s not this black and white I feel like State and Duke are pretty close to being equals both in results and resumes. And most brackets have 2 seed lines between the two teams.

But we do gotta figure out the scheduling thing. Keatts needs to do better there. Some of it can be fluky. But some of it can be controlled
