I only ever use it on myself, because I know I'm the least important. The bigger issue is that I need to be more useful in raids, so points in increasing strength of earth and windfury totems I think will be more important.

what do you guys think would be a 5 man group spec for a warlock? i'm thinking about a respec when i hit 70 tonight to try to be more useful in the group. probably go the demonology route and pick up imp succ for longer seduces as i am one of our main forms of cc most of the time.

^^I'm 43/0/18 and seem to do find in 5-man groups. Don't have the best gear in the world, but no one has ever complained about my DPS. Dark Pact is nice and relieves the healer of having to worry about healing you after using life tap. I went with the 18 in Demo for DPS and threat reduction in raids, but my guild disbanded right after i was one key fragment away from being attuned for Kara. Been thinking about taking some of my points in Demo and putting them in either imp imp or imp HS. Both of those would help a group. As for imp succy, I didn't have any problems CCing in shadow lab last night except when guys in my group would accidently hit my mob. Its all about timing and I had no problem getting off a good amout of dps before my seduce would break.

yeah i'm currently affliction with a couple points in demo. i don't have any problem right now with seduce but it seems that more often that not i have to re-seduce so many times that the succ runs oom. i'd like to try demo for the simple reason that i haven't before. other talents in the tree seem useful like reduced threat from master demo.

how many mobs are you seducing that you have to re-seduce that much? I didn't have any mana problems last night, but I was only in charge of one mob. Also, that is one thing that I don't like about the lock pets, no way to regen their mana other than just wait it out. That 2nd build is interesting. I wonder if the 15% +Shadow would offset not having UA, but I'm guessing probably not from a strictly DPS standpoint. I guess if you're mostly working with a specific group you should go with whatever your role is in the group. Also, your current build is pretty much exactly what I had before i respected to my current build, except i had 3 in demonic aegis and didn't have MS.

how much +dmg bonus do you get from 3/3 demonic aegis with fel armor?

last night in old hillsbrad (group was interesting, warrior hunter shaman druid warlock) i would have to seduce a mob, then it would get broken once or twice, re-seduce, then seduce the 4th mob after the ice trap broke, it was a mess. it would work out if the succubus even had mana after the first mob. i know it won't be like that often but i usually roll with a hunter and a shaman so ice trap/seduce are all we've got.

The only time I ever find Dark Pact usable is in a raid group where you have an imp that will NEVER attack. If you are using a succubus for seduce, I don't use it because of the mere chance that she would run out of mana.

Is it bad that I am 41 points into Affliction, and I still found it extremly difficult to put the single point into Dark Pact to learn the skill? Its worthless for soloing (VW, the eternal mana sink hole), worthless for PvP, and I'd much rather just lifetap twice and bandage and save myself a talent point. Not to mention the fact that I am using Drain Life anyways to do heavy damage AND get NF procs. If I'm going to drain something, I might as well not be at full health. When I get to 70 and raid, I have a feeling that I will probably get rid of it since there are talents that I currently haven't gotten yet that are only good if you have +spell dmg (empowered corruption, improved drain life) or are only applicable in raids (ie increasing CoS and CoE).

That being said, for 5 mans, most warlock specs will be usable (take this with a grain of salt since I only have been up to 62). Destruction will be less applicable when you get to raid type groups, though. Shadowfury works well as a nice ranged AoE stun until then, though.

I personally think its bad to go that far in affliction without it, but thats just me. I always roll with my imp out for stam and mana unless I'm asked to CC with succy. If i'm asked to CC i do not use DP. DP is a great way of getting mana back on the run without having to stop and use the resources to drink/bandage. I rarely drink and haven't bandaged more than 10 times since 60. I don't use it exclusively, and will often do a couple of DP and then a LT so that I'm pretty much full at the end of a fight. At this point my solo fights usually go something like SB, UA, CoA (depending on the mob), Corrup and Siphon Life, then either fear the mob and move on to another or drain tank, depending on my mood. I also like DP because its easier to regen mana in the middle of a fight with multiple mobs, which is one of the best parts about being a lock with iHoT etc.

I haven't used my VW except for a couple of times since around 60. I've found that its mana regen is too slow for using DP, though it might have more overall, he can't hold aggro well, even with taunt, and his dps isn't great enough to offset the quick mana regen and stam boost of the imp. As long as the imp doesn't fight, he can't die and if you do die, it doesn't cost anything to summon him so you can save shards for things like SS, HS, Soulshatter and Shadow burn.

Dark pact is crucial for me as I never have to drink. If I'm in an instance I have my imp out which is a steady source of mana in between life taps. I usually dot, life tap, and drain life. Between my shadoweve set bonus and fel armor I have almost full health and mana after one dot rotation and maintain it throughout the fights. Need more mana? Drain soul and hope you kill the target for 1500 free mana, which happens to me constantly. Dark pact is a last minute move for me usually as I rely on life tap more than anything, but it is nice in boss fights. In pvp I have my felpuppy out, which has decent mana regen and is more useful than succy. Bitch goes down too fast and only gives me a cc that constantly get broken.

Fel Stam and Int isn't that great and you could use the boost to DL and DS. Also shadow embrace boosts your DL if you have Soul Siphon and makes another annoying thing to clense in pvp.
