11-2 Yanks win
Posada goes 3-for-5, finishing a triple short of the cycle.
Sierra left early with a sore elbow, and Bernie came out in the 7th with a tender knee, but so far neither look to be serious.
Pavano pitched well...7 innings I believe, 8 hits, 1 earned run
Not too bad. Now let's string together more than one at a time. 4/20/2005 10:40:54 PM |

Well that's two in a row.
Rivera got the save, but not before letting the tying run get to third and the winning run get to first.
It's all good; a win's a win.
7-9 and hopefully moving on up now. Let's keep in rolling. 4/21/2005 10:33:16 PM |

So Wright's gone 4-6 weeks.
I prefered Lieber from the start. At least he proved to be consistent and decent for the love of God. Wright was so streaky.
^^ And you really think 2nd to last is gonna keep up for the whole season? The Yanks started 8-11 last year and still finished with 101 wins. Not like the Sux are racing to first either by the way. Way to call out Johnson after an eight-inning, three-hit performance too.
So Wright's injured and Brown isn't doing so hot right now, big deal...they still have 3 very quality starters, which a lot of teams can't say.

haha anyone who was a Yankee fan pre-1994 I have to hand it to you.. you lived through some dark times.. I miss the Maas, Stankiwiecz (sp?), Hawkins days..
Hell I have been a Mets/Sox fan. You don't have to tell me about rooting for your team through some rough waters..

Oh man I loved Kevin Maas. I was like 8-10 years old when he was there, so I didn't care/notice if he sucked.
We had very similar batting stances.
Yeah, pre-1994 was rough, but 1995 made up for a lot of it. I remember watching the game where they clinched the playoffs for the first time in Mattingly's career and as the final out was made, he just bends over and punches the ground in jubilation. Man...I get chills/teary-eyed thinking about it now. Good times.
OH and Andy Hawkins...GOD...nothing like pitching a no-hitter and LOSING 4-0. Good job.

yes, but I'm not the one calling you bandwagoners, now am I?
anyway, I forgot Alviro Espinoza
** also who was it that was friggin awesome for like a couple seasons and then one day just could NOT find the plate and was never the same? Was it Hawkins? The only reason I ask is I remember reading the article in the Daily News that was kinda sad about him when I was younger..

but u have to admit that people came out of the woodwork (especially down here) when the Sox won the series. i mean i'm talking about people who dont even like baseball who jumped on the bandwagon immediately. and b4 u tell me i'm crazy, i can name a bunch of people i know right away who did that. what's funny is that now they mysteriously could care less about baseball, let alone the Sox.
and does no one remember jim abbot? i mean he had 1 hand!

oh no doubt people did. It kind of pissed me off but thats what happens. Same thing would happen if the Cubbies finally (yea right) won..
I get random people saying to me 'Hey I bet you got that Sox hat real cheap on EBay' and crap like that.
Ah well. The price of finally winning. Now if only the Mets could win finish above .500 4/25/2005 9:41:15 AM |

last year after 19 games: 8-11 THIS YEAR after 19 games: 8-11
the only thing I'm worried about is Kevin Brown, because Chien Ming Wang is coming up to replace Jaret Wright, and he's BETTER than Jaret Wright. Brown has sucked every time out....he gets stronger as the game goes on, but he always allows a few runs in the first inning.
meanwhile, I'll be at the game on May 10th. w00t. 4/25/2005 1:18:36 PM |

K. Brown looks like he won't be doin much till around the break, and Jaret Wright has horrible streaks, he was with my Braves for long enough to scare the shit outta me
wouldn't worry about it, Pavano and Johnson seem solid right now. 4/25/2005 1:23:51 PM |

Yes, their pitching sucked back then. But their whole team blew, except donnie baseball. Steve sax wasnt bad either. Brien Taylor didnt break his arm, though, he fucked up his shoulder.
I'll never forget my first game in 1989 or 90. We drove up to the stadium, saw the Indians beat the piss out of the Yankees on October 2nd. There were 3 rain delays...we left after the second one, and got home in time to see the end of the game.
As much as that team sucked, I'll never forget impersonating players like Jesse Barfield, Mel Hall, Matt Nokes, Steve Balboni, Steve Sax, Donnie Baseball, Roberto Kelly, fuckin uhh....Kevin Maas. Deon Fuckin Sanders even played there for a bit. Let's see....Steve HOWE!! fuckin druggie.
It call began to change when they signed Jimmy Key, then Wade Boggs and John Wettland. Traded Roberto Kelly for Paul O'Niell, Then they traded for David Cone and Ruben Sierra in 1995.
I went to like 15 yankee games between 1990-1995. And I didnt even get to see a yankee player hit a homerun until Mattingly did it in July of 1995...thats how bad they were. I'll never forget that game.4/25/2005 1:25:21 PM |
