if your under the age of 21 then you technically aren't supposed to own a handgun as far as i know not that all of us haven't used and transported them before 21... unless you are one of the underage state troopers they allow to terrorize the highways 2/14/2007 9:35:31 AM |

you can possess a handgun under 21 as long as it is properly stored... under 18 if you have a note or something like that and you are using it for hunting/target shooting 2/14/2007 12:58:17 PM |

whats the penalty for possessing a pistol without a permit, i don't mean concealed either, i just mean like if i have it sitting in the passenger seat in plain sight if i don't have a permit for it? 2/14/2007 3:20:32 PM |

^^^ it's illegal to possess a handgun under age 18 with a few very specific exceptions--eg. emancipated minors in their own home
^^the only way to legally take possession of a handgun if you're between 18 and 21 is outside of the state b/c every handgun transfer (gift, inheritance, whatever) in NC requires that the recipient have a permit
^you don't need a permit to carry a handgun, just to acquire it. once it's legally in your possession, the permit is unnecessary

^ Pretty much got it right. You can NOT own a pistol under any circumstance between the ages of 18 and 21. However, you can possess one. This means that you can borrow one from a friend for an indefinitite period of time, but it sure as hell isn't yours if anyone asks. 2/14/2007 4:20:53 PM |

^X 6 i'm pretty sure you can own it if it's given to you as a gift. u just can't buy it. since you don't have to register handguns it doesn't matter who buys it, as long as it was purchased leagally. 2/15/2007 6:04:46 PM |

You must be 21 to OWN a handgun. You may possess a handgun after age 18. The difference is minor but if you're under 21, don't tell a cop that you own it. You must also have a permit or a ccw license to purchase, receive, find, or whatever any handgun and that must be given to the person you get it from. 2/15/2007 7:41:45 PM |

I've decided to go back to 9mm and want to get rid of my XD40SC. The arthritis in my hands makes the .40 a bit too uncomfortable after 50-100 rounds at the range and want something I can shoot more.
XD40 SubCompact - stock 2 SC mags (9 round) (both with Pierce pinky extensions) 1 Fullsize mag w/ sleeve (12 round) approx. 900 rounds through it all the XD gear Finish: melonite
I've had the gun for about 2 months now (bought used from local LEO that had only shot it twice in 3-gun comps.) and it's my daily ccw gun. The gun was made during the "iffy" time for finishes and they could not give me a definitive answer but told me to compare it to my XD9 (known to be melonite) since the finishes are slightly different colors/shades. It matched it perfectly. The gun is very well taken care of, cleaned after every range visit and wiped down w/ silicone cloth every night or two.
What I'm looking for: Mainly XD9SC but will consider a Service Will also consider XD45 Compact maybe a Kahr as well Prefer Night sights prefer melonite but open to pre-melo if well taken care of and no rust may consider other guns but not as fond as most of the competition.
This is all subject to change as I'm really going back and forth between another SC or another Service (I'll be picking up a Keltec P-3AT shortly and size won't be as large an issue any more).
Pinky extensions can be kept or sold with. I'd like to keep at least one of them as they're difficult to find locally but it's definitely not a deal breaker. Willing to throw $$ in on a better equipped gun but will also probably expect it on a lesser equipped one (i.e. pre-melonite w/o night sights and only 2-3 mags). Also prefer FTF but will consider others.
I have my CCW permit in hand (and will provide a copy for you to keep) and will expect trader to have same or permit (if face to face). I will also have a bill of sale that's mandatory (for my own protection and yours). Anyone interested? If you have an offer, throw it at me. You never know what I may end up giving or getting. 2/15/2007 7:42:57 PM |

Dave, What are you asking for your XD? You mention trades, but if you want to sell, how much would you take for it. I've got a XD40 , but the Sub compact really appeals to me.
Thanks! 2/16/2007 10:10:40 PM |

Stoner, I've really not thought about it that much. At this point, I'm telling everyone to make an offer. I'm hanging out and drinking with my roomies tonight so I've not considered it at all. What kind of .40 do you have? I *may* be interested in a trade for another "non-SC" .40 but I would have to try it first. If you're local, we may be able to arrange to meet at the range one day and try them. 2/16/2007 10:36:16 PM |

^&^^ The cheapest place I have ordered from is http://www.ammoman.com/ They have free shipping! I have been shooting the Speer Lawman 230 grain FMJ. Its currently listed @$159 per 500 or $279 per 1000. Lets get our collective ammounts together and see what he will do on say 5000. Im thinking $250 per 1000 would be a good starting point. If anyone else has a good vendor speak up and we will see what they can do as well. Does anyone have any personal experience with buying any bulk reloads? Anyways im looking for 2000 rounds.

^^ at the last show i got 500 rds of 45. they were jhp winchester bullets and reloaded by Georgia Arms. the cost for 500rds is $125, for jhp u can't beat it. i've gone thru close to half the case now and have had no problems. the best way to do it is call and place an order and have them bring it to the next show, that way you don't pay tax or shipping.
to let you know the quality of there ammo i bought some 223 match grade ammo and i'm getting quarter sized grouping at 200 yds. 2/19/2007 12:57:46 PM |

people have been asking about a price for my XD40 SubCompact. If I sell outright then I'll be asking $450 (fairly firm, and it's a good price). It will include everything in the above post plus 39 rds. of Speer Gold Dot 165gr., 50 rds. of Remington JHP 180gr., Gould & Goodrich belt holster (with retention strap), and custom kydex iwb tuckable holster (what I conceal with daily). 2/19/2007 5:01:46 PM |

the new Remington auto shoots magums too btw
for a semi-auto deer rifle I'd just shoot a standard caliber and buy a bolt rifle for a tackdriving magnum

my deer rifle is a Remington 742 in .270, but I hunt in deer stands
I just think I'd buy a nice lightweight rifle like a Rem model 7 or something if I bought a 7mm
why buy such a heavy rifle in that caliber, you're not gonna tote that thing out west, it will kill you humping that thing around for a few miles 2/21/2007 10:21:09 AM |
