yeah its maximum work truck which is what i really want.

I want a bed i don't have to care about so i can just throw shit in it.

I won't be getting anything for a while though... but i think that or a flat-bed is really what i'm looking for.

^^the 48RE valve body operates at a considerably higher line pressure than the 47re.

^that

- clutch pack thickness/count
- spline count on the OD clutch assembly
- valvebody itself uses a different separator plate, etc.

what years though?

As much as i'm a ford loyal kinda guy i still prefer to own the car with the best engine... and i feel that that would be the 5.9/6.7 of the dodge.

Or.... the 6.7 ford is nice but its too new to afford or to know just how sturdy it is.

and unfortunately i avoid chevys like i avoid UNC

7.3 or 6.4 are very stout. 6.0 from 06 with shortened head studs (stock) and chip to disable egr is solid too

What are the laws governing campers etc are there any crash requirements or anything or could you just build a plywood hut on the back of a chassis ?

to my knowledge there aren't any. I know 90% of all trailers on the road are particle board/fiberglass/hollow <1" OD aluminum construction. I think there are requirements if you want people to ride in the back while driving but I don't think you'd ever have a problem going to some $8/hr worker to inspect your ride.

^that would make a great toy hauler since it already has a lift gate in the back for bikes.

The reason I never really built/bought one is the resale and lack of utility. with a toy hauler trailer I can sell it easily and I can use the truck and sell it easily. very difficult to do that with something you build one off.

^ holy shit that thing is psycho

why don't we see more 2-stroke diesels? just an emissions thing or is there some inherent design disadvantage for even garden-variety applications

when i worked at the golfcourse we used to do that all the time... but we had the huge turf saver tires on it and a blower behind it to work as a hydraulic wheelie bar.

Ok compound turbo/supercharger setups, as long as the blower isn't capable of making wastegate boost, the total boost pressure will be controlled by the wastegates, IF you are referencing manifold air pressure (post supercharger) right ??

getting a little hesitation or popping/missing at higher RPMs (near redline) and a mild vibration right around 1500. truck generally runs and idles fine but I'm thinking I'm losing a little power. where would you start? fwiw, recently replaced lift pimp, ofv, and deleted the pre-heater

^if you can verify fuel pressure at injection pump as good, then I would gander at verifying the pump timing next.

^^what arrangement? It appears that the desirable setup is blower as primary, turbo as secondary stage.... however from what I've read depending on charger selection and certain load points where the turbo is actually sucking through the blower. in this arrangement total boost is regulated by wastegate b/t manifold & turbo, and max primary (supercharger) boost is regulated by max blower rpm @ max engine rpm. (sounds like a yes, to your actual question)

I think i'd rather have the blower on the motor sucking through the compressor of a turbo.. atleast that will help bring up shaft speed.

Yeah i know it'll be a compound charge. but if the manifold pressure is regulated by the waste-gate it should be all good right?

^yes, i was agreeing about wastegate controlling manifold pressure.

There's a guy on CompD "TURBOLVR" who has had blower feeding turbo, turbo feeding blower, and triple turbos (parallel feeding single): http://www.competitiondiesel.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110216

he mentioned somewhere in that thread that some blower models dont like being fed boost, too.

damn... i really like that.

it seems the blower he uses (m90) has a built in bypass valve...

iirc the m90 is what is on the terminators (03-04 cobra) right?

I wonder if anyone has messed with the engine in a deuce at all... 126 hp just seems sooo weak.

haha... no clue on the blower application

I'm sure a deuce has enough ass to do what needs to be done... and i'm betting 30% increase can be had just from tweaks.
