^^ the looks aren’t bad. They’re just disappointing and kinda subdued from what this car should be with that nameplate and that price point in 2019, which describes the problem with the car overall. Nowhere near enough “holy shit” for a 50-something thou Toyota with a storied nameplate, with the competition that’s out there now.

I think the styling, for the most part (and especially in this day and age of ridiculously UGLY cars) is pretty good. The hood is too tall (thanks to dumbass pedestrian crash standards) and the door air vents (non-functional) are straight up retarded, but otherwise I like it.

I can't really come to terms with the 3400 lb curb weight though. Pretty heavy for a car with a shorter wheelbase than an 86. And the lack of manual transmission isn't something I could overlook. Toyota is only predicting sales of 10,000-15,000 per year worldwide. They could all be manuals and still sell every single one. Dumb.

Just realized... go to page 1 to see my OP, and scroll down to the end of the post (halfway down page; it is a long post) to see the renders (in 4 colors), from 20 months ago...

...99% identical.

Biggest letdown in the history of "debuts".

My peeves with it:

- makes 15 hp more after ~20 years, so that's <1 hp/year
- even the nissan 370Z has 332 hp, plus the NISMO version has 350 hp, and they come out with 335 hp?
- the nsx came back with a vengeance... ok so the supra didn't have to morph into a 573 hp 0-60 mph in 2.7 sec monster, but how about 400 hp???
- why does it cost $20k/67% more than the 370Z?
- couldn't they at least have made a toyota interior? after so many years they couldn't do that?
- NO MANUAL
- sure, a more powerful GRMN version will probably come out, but it will cost crazy money, and it is 2 yrs away
- the least powerful JDM model has 194 hp, less than the Toyota 86--makes no sense!!!

I like:

- looks... nose used to look weird to me, but after seeing nearly identical renders for years, it has grown on me, and the rest of the car looks very muscular, especially those rear fenders

toyota doing it is. toyota started with a base map and wrote their own programming which has always factored longevity first. i could see that as part of the joint venture was an advertising agreement about figures where bmw was always marketed higher by some percent
