24% tax is a much higher burden on someone making barely enough to live than someone who has all of their necessities plus several yachts
a flat tax is not fair, it's just simplistic

I wonder how the green party members of congress voted 10/16/2019 7:22:40 PM |
horosho Suspended 2001 Posts user info edit post |
The real irony is that they are all voting for a resolution condemning the president's refusal to continue to circumvent the law while simultaneously pursuing impeachment of said president.
That circumvention of the law is in regards to fighting ISIS indefinitely in Syria without ever voting for an AUMF or declaration of war. Also ironically, they won't vote on impeachment articles.
So is the law and procedure laid out by the constitution important or not? Its hard to keep up at this point. 10/16/2019 8:06:50 PM |

fun and credible, just sometimes difficult when a couple is involved. I can totally get behind the story that her ex hubby released some not-so-flattering photos of her, cuz that happens all of the time. I am, however, a bit interested in the "Nazi Cross" that is apparently tatted on her hip. I can't seem to find any pics of it, but is it just the iron cross, or does it have the swastika in it?
The iron cross alone shouldn't be that controversial. It is a very old symbol that has been used by many different groups and ideologies, including the CSA.
In fact, if you could prove that one of your relatives died as a confederate during the civil war, the VA will issue a CSA iron cross for his tombstone.

Looking at that graphic, it is way worse than flat.
The top 400 individuals have a lower rate than the bottom 90 percent.
Also, top 400 < top 0.01% < top 0.1% for tax rate.
How does any of that make any sense?
US is the most oppressive, unfair, unequal, money-hungry, planetarily-damaging, and corporatocratic of all Western democracies, by a huge margin, and brazenly so.
Damn, sort by any of the first 3 columns after country name, and see where US is and where Western European countries are. So damn shameful and sad.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_income_equality
Sort here by Wealth GINI, last column, and US is one of the top (worst) countries. Check where most of the European countries are.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_distribution_of_wealth
And in both links, check what other countries are around the US with regards to Gini and other inequality data.

I think you missed misunderstood my post unless you believe media has convinced everyone Trump should NOT be impeached.
My point is that the impeachment (and removal) is reserved for the president doing something so egregious that we cannot even let him go on with his term. This isn't an election its more like a criminal court. Its a high bar and I feel like needing to convince someone about it tells you that it wasn't so obviously egregious. It needs to be egregious without doubt. Simply "doing bad thing" is not necessarily impeachable and the public will decide if it was bad enough in November.
Of course the media can and does manipulate people. Do you think the MSM (aside from fox) hasn't been pro-impeachment? Maddow, Cuomo, Tapper, Lemon etc have been doing "here's why this is so bad" explanations the whole time. You know I know because I keep them on everyday. I've always said if something is so bad you wouldn't need to say "heres why this is so bad"

I didn't say that. I said its 'like' a criminal court. it doesn't have to be a crime but it still needs to be "so egregious we can't let him finish out his term" and it needs to be proven to the degree of a conviction. Its much more than "did a bad thing".
And just to be clear, I think Trump has committed impeachable offenses, the democrats just aren't using them to impeach him. Probably because they too would be implicated in the high crimes Trump is guilty of. We are actively running concentration camps and impeaching the president over a slick phone call. What kind of message does that send? That is part of why Pelosi has no credibility. Oh, and she doesn't hate the president, she simply thinks he's trying to destroy the country for personal gain. Doesn’t make sense to impeach a president in congress after he’s out of office.
Trump is facing criminal charges when he leaves office but there’s a concern of statute of limitations and pardons if he gets re-elected.
Voting trump out now subjects him to criminal prosecution. I think this is annoyingly why they kept the articles of impeachment to two constitutional issues... it doesn’t interfere with the criminal process. 12/12/2019 11:22:17 PM |

I'm saying its obvious that if they were serious about it, they would keep it alive by keeping it in the house. This would not involve waiting as there is still a lot more that can be done. It would involve more investigation, more testimony and maybe even more articles. They've only scratched the surface on what they could do. This is the quickest impeachment in history. 12/13/2019 2:09:40 AM |

Yea I don’t get the strategy here. The Dems had a chance to just bog down trump for the next 18 months or whatever it is in a bunch of hearings and investigations one after another. Should have just been 18 months of this and then if he got re-elected maybe push forward and maybe a more favorable Senate situation. Allow the impeachment to loom and be an issue during the election.
People already don’t understand / care about some Ukraine Biden scandal and most don’t care about some “know it all professor” telling them why it matters. Yes big deal to anyone who understands what he’s doing but that’s not most of America honestly. People don’t really care and this now goes to the Senate where he is 100% acquitted as they will control the way it’s run and presented. It hands the Republicans such an easy win. I don’t get what they expected out of sending this to the Senate? Did they really think even one Republican would fall out of line?
Right now every Dem should be on TV talking about how the president picks on teenagers trying to make the world a better place. Hammer home done lowest common denominator talking points - what the Republicans are great at.
