come hyjal I'm going for the matching sword set if arena 3 isn't out. hyjal should be soon, we're learning KT atm and vashj is hovering at about 10%

just go maces and say the hell with pve ... or go combat daggers and say the hell with pvp.

rogues are just like every other class

combat daggers suck balls for pve and I honestly don't really like combat maces for pvp. I have dragonstrike and blackout truncheon (best combo til KT) and just can't get into it. It would also require a change in my itemization to be really effective.

and rogues in arena's are about control. not burst and pew pew. i guess it all depends on your mind set... but control always wins

combat daggers is 100% positional. very few fights in bc are stationary enough to maximize them. on top of that you sacrifice dps talents in the assassination tree and pvp utility in the combat tree to get opportunity. combat fists, ar, blade flurry make for probably the biggest 15s of sustained damage. granted we can be cc'd in the middle of it unlike a bm hunter but most classes are pretty vulnerable, especially to an undead rogue. also, as I am a rogue, I only really shine in 2v2 and do ok in 3v3. in 5v5 I'm just cc for a healer

irrelavent. only the positioning argument is a factor ... and it you try hard enough that doesn't matter either.

Deolemite (hunter from DNT) pulls about 1300-1400 dps ... why does nihilium only raid with 1 hunter ever ?

The lock in my BG's number 1 2v2 team is 27/34 .... the lock in the number 2 team is 43/7/11 and the lock on the third place team is 6/44/11

that and sword spec and windury are super broken as of now lol

and while we're nitpicking

because hunters are only useful for misdirect, expose weakness, and select encounters as they aren't as versatile as warlocks, the clear favorite for ranged dps?

edit: and yes, there are in fact 2-3 dagger rogues out of top 20 or so. I'm sure there'd be more if they we're as good or better than sword rogues. (I'd say sword/fist but these guys are getting weapons above item level 138, the level of arena 2 weapons and arena 2 is currently the best source for fist weapons)

be cute if you must, but 1300 dps is respectable to well above par for any ranged dps class warlock mage or otherwise

I'm not being cute at all. Tell me a single encounter in BC where a hunter is preferred, much less required, over a warlock. Sure I've only seen up to Kael and Vashj and you've seen more, so enlighten me. I think it's ridiculous how powerful warlocks are in pve. They have the most powerful and efficient AE, a means to heal themselves a regen their mana extremely quickly, means to buff differently depending on raid makeup, snare, cc (somewhat reliably in a raid environment, atleast on adds), and the single steadiest dps that isn't at all attached to melee range, interrupt mechanics, etc (too many fights require intermittent dps with lots of running and locks lose the least efficiency doing this as their dots just keep ticking). The only bad thing about locks is the poor reuse on their aggro shedding mechanic

i think warlocks out dps hunters during long fights with transitions. Most fights i'm number 1 on the dps charts. Can't wait for blizz to fit viper aspect thing.

hunters are decent for vasj kiting.

umm

good for helping kill elementals on vasj......

man you got me. hunters are just good for staying up a bit longer than warlocks in damage-heavy fights i guess.

misdirect is extremely useful. my (and azaka's) guild use at least 2 hunters to pump misdirect onto the tanks and use it everytime the timer is up to assure the mobs stay on target. very useful on mobs that reset aggro a lot too (leotheras).

yeah... I just started a hunter (got him to level 30) and good god man... its not even fair how fast leveling is going, due to DPS, compared to my warrior... I can only imagine a lock.

Switched my warrior to prot yesterday too... I made a couple macros from the WoW forums
1) ctrl+mousewheel up = sunder and mousewheel up = devastate
2) press button once=shield block and press button 2nd time=revenge

I've got mw down set to taunt and the two other buttons on my mouse set to shield bash and shield slam... what are the other moves that are important for a tank? heroic strike?

you should convince azaka to repost a post he made about tanking on our old guild forums, it was pretty in depth and had a ton of macro's.

all you need for leotheras is a shaman with searing totem to make sure aggro doesn't goto the wrong person after whirlwind. dps shouldn't be an issue that you need misdirect to stay ahead of the enrage, you do the majority of the damage during the lock tank phase anyway.

lol

that would mean you need a shaman that doesn't suck, which is harder to find than hunters that don't suck.

I remember one time i told a shaman to drop WF and his response was, 'I'll drop it for the boss fight.'

He was promptly gkicked

hunter is much faster than lock pre like ... 50, then they even out. when you get UA or Felguard things speed up quite nicely.

and i still think you're vastly over emphasizing the importance of misdirect. on a fight with 2-3 million total threat ... 2k-5k threat from a hunter every 2 minutes is less than chub inducing.

hunters, especially since the wonders of raiding beast mastery has come about, are all about steady consistant dps (made easy by not being a tight ass and chugging pots.) that's incredibly low maintenance. With imp pet rez, coupled with avoidance, pet downtime is extremely low and mana efficent to deal with.

^no, he's not. misdirect is incredibly important for initial agro in the pull, not overall long-term threat. the tank generates that on his own. misdirect is itchy triger-finger insurance. because of the cooldown on this, two hunters are preferable. hunters are also important on vashj phase 3 (not so much phase 2, a warlock can effectively kite striders there).

that being said, misdirect is about the only reason to have a hunter. no more than 2 are needed... 1 is enough.

warlocks aren't always OP in PvE. there are many instances where a good mage can out-DPS them. equal numbers of both are necessary for a successful raid composition... and isn't that the idea?

example #1: warlocks are kinda worthless on AOEing hyjal trash which has high shadow resist. equally geared players should expect class damage output stratification similar to the following. on the actual boss encounters in Hyjal, the warlock tops the dps again, but hyjal is unique; if you wipe you have to redo the trash... however you probably won't have time to swap out your mages for warlocks before the boss pull.

example #2: in other situations, with stationary targets without PBAOE-like abilities, rogues easilly top the DPS. teron gorefiend is a prime example of this. DPS goes all-out on gorefiend. he doesn't move.

get rid of titan and ktm and switch over to fubar and omen. you'll also need some better frames (i prefer xperl, others like pitbull). you'll probably want some gear quickswap addons too, though since i'm a rogue i pretty much never swap gear so i can't recommend any to you.

definately omen, and definately DBM (deadly boss mods). DBM is crucial for most bosses, since they announce to you and gives timer bars when bosses use their special abilities and gets you ready for them.

i always liked mazzleui. but then again, i liked seeing the same information 500 times in different places and my framerate never suffered because i was never stingy with ram or cpu.

http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info6311-MazzleUI.html

photek isn't horrible either, i used it before i knew about mazzle. Then i took some of the UI elements from photek and used them with mazzle.

Quote :
"How to Break a World of Warcraft Addiction
...can't...stop...
...can't...stop...
The definition of "addiction" is the state of being enslaved to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming (such as narcotics), to such an extent that to discontinue the habit or practice can lead to severe trauma. In other words, you love something so much that you have developed a habit of using it or playing it, to such an extent that not doing so leaves you feeling cranky or nervous; and you are becoming rather inept in other areas of life.

Some experts believe World of Warcraft can be "addictive". Here's a way to break your WoW "addiction".
Steps [edit]

1. Admit you have a problem. This may be hard, but accepting that Warcraft has taken over your life is the initial step into overcoming your addiction.
2. Consider the following: Imagine the day that you first bought the game. If you knew everything you did now, would you still have bought it? Now the follow up question: Imagine yourself in two years, still playing WoW, looking back on today when you are making the decision to quit or keep playing. How do you feel about your decision to continue?
3. Find out what has caused your addiction. What makes World of Warcraft (WoW for short) so appealing to you? Is it the fact that it has different continents that you will never go to? Is it the fighting? Is it your unique role as a tank or a mage? Is it the happiness of 'pwning noobs'? Whatever it is, try to minimize this happiness in WoW, and make it a pleasure that you could also get in every day life.

* Take a martial arts class. Many gamers are very interested in the martial arts, but never study it. Take up some sort of martial art that is similar to your character in WoW. For example, if you use a sword in the game, then take up fencing, Kendo, or SCA fighting.
* Read. Novels have just as much excitement and adventure as WoW, but you can expand other skills -- such as critical thinking and vocabulary -- in addition to those that interactive storytelling and game play will build.
* Play a different videogame. Sure, you might just find yourself in another addiction, but at least you're not paying 15 bucks every month.
4. Burn yourself out by finding the ways to cheat at World of Warcraft. Find a private server to play on, with ultra fast leveling/gold. Cheating through the entire game in an hour will get you burnt out very, very quickly. Some of them give so much xp they level you up 10 levels for discovering the first major city, and mobs start out dropping 5g each. (Though remember, playing on private servers is a violation of the Blizzard ToS, which can get your account banned)
5. Make it a joint effort. Ideally, find other friends who are trying to break a WoW addiction, and follow these steps with them. Otherwise, explain to your friends and family what you're doing, and ask them to help you stay on track. When you can't trust yourself to keep away from WoW, you have to trust someone else to stop you.
6. Set up parental controls for yourself. Make it so your play-time is limited, and use a complicated password that you are sure to quickly forget. Or, ask a friend or family member to set the parental controls with a password you don't know.
7. Schedule other activities with your free time, so you won't have time to play WoW. One of the most effective way is to get a part time job and book every free time you have to work. Hang out with your friends, play basketball, engage in extra curricular activities at school (such as clubs or sport teams) or volunteer. The important thing is that they keep you outside of your home, away from your computer. You can find that there are many things that are just as exciting as playing WoW. Remember, your "guild" online is no substitute for the company of real friends.
8. Sell your account. There are many players and lazy people out there, willing to pay for an existing account. This is a great way to stop playing, because then someone else takes your character, and you won't be able to control it any longer. This is a nice way to quit, because it gives you some bucks.
9. Sabotage your WoW future. Get on your character, destroy all of your items, and delete your character. Then go on the account management page, remove your credit card info, and change your password to a random string of text. Change all of your personal info, so it is impossible to retrieve your password. If you have your CD key that came with WoW when you purchased it, scratch it out, and throw it away, making it impossible to retrieve your account. If you feel that it is necessary, uninstall the game and snap the CD in half, too. Now, you officially can't play any longer, and if you ever somehow get back on your account, all of your in-game progress is deleted. This is the hardest of the steps to do, but is the most effective.

Tips [edit]

* Addictions to video games trigger brain activity similar to a drug addiction. So don't be surprised if breaking the addiction seems difficult at first.
* People play games because they seem to find reality is less interesting, in reality, there are many more constructive things to do. Find ways to make reality more interesting, that will help.
* Evaluate yourself to see if you are using your "WoW" addiction to escape problems in your life. If you have problems at work, see about improving your education (to get a better job). If you have family problems, see about improving your relationship with them.
* You can also find support online. There are support groups on Yahoo and Google Groups, and the WoW forums can sate your desire to see what you're "missing" as you quit.
* Track the amount of time that you spend playing WoW. Associate a dollar value with that time, for example: 6 hrs/day * 7 days = 42 hours. 42 * $10 = $420.00 per week. You can see that your time IS money, as even the most trivial computer repair or web page and graphics jobs can easily command $10/hr.
* Get a stopwatch and measure how much time you spend waiting in the game (for guild members, flight paths, long walks, etc.) and compare it to the overall time played. You may find that close to half, or even a majority of your time is spent doing effectively nothing.
* Calculate how much of your time you spend doing nothing each month against your monthly subscription fee, and see how much money you're throwing away.
* If you use a router, block the port WoW uses to connect. This disables your connectivity to the WoW servers. You can also block this port with Windows Firewall or other firewall software, such as ZoneAlarm. You can find this port in Blizzard's knowledge base for WoW
* Remember that all of your accolades and achievements in WoW are virtual and do little for you in real life. While your virtual life is blossoming, your personal life could be deteriorating. If so, that is reason enough to stop playing.
* If you are doing something that could get you banned, or the only solution is to get yourself banned, make sure you have fun doing it. There are many, many ways to be banned; choose a good one.

Warnings [edit]

* Your payments continue even after you smash everything. Don't forget to unsubscribe.
* Your account may be banned if you get caught selling it. Which in itself is a solution too.

That is my UI including all saved variables. It's setup for 1600x1200 and won't look right for any other resolutions. The hardest part about setting it up is the eePanels (which is very time consuming and a pain in the ass). If you use a different resolution and need some help just IM me.

BTW, if you use my UI and the wowaceupdater, DO NOT update eePanels or Clearfont.

Thanks Azaka, I will check it out at work (the only 16x12 screen i have access to)...

On another note, do you guys raid with any arms-specced warriors? I've been rolling a NE Warrior in Arms as far as I can remember, but I'm not sure if viability in raiding scenarios has been good or not...

Do i have to roll Prot in order get the invite?

should I be running heroics to get geared for kara or are they one in the same? I've got some good tanking gear from regular runs, but do i need to upgrade again before kara?

^ i was arms until last sunday.... from what i saw (running regular instances and part of kara) people dont want arms warriors unless they are GODLY geared from arena. this is because they are of no use otherwise... just a hunk of fat doing mediocre damage and no cc
