I think most people take at least 1 fury warrior on the 25 mans. They work well as OT's and have good dps if they're geared well, though I think their gear scales better in higher tiers as I remember laughing at fury warriors dps in kara while it's competitive in 25 man content.

i'm so tired of not having a 70, so i'm workin on the warrior to make it so I can experience some real content. I've always enjoyed arms with nice two-handers, but my tanking has been so-so given the spec. Wish it was better, but don't think I can play a prot as good as i already do with arms.

what do you mean? are you simply asking if its faster to level as arms than prot? if so yes arms or fury or some mix will pretty much always outlevel prot.

yeah, i did kinda answer my own leading question, but what I'm mulling over is whether I can actually play a prot after so much time on arms. Not only in terms of pulling it off well enough not to get us all killed, but even just on the "fun" level.

Dunno. Any prot's out there that love it just as much as arms?

theres defintely room to be arms, fury, or prot in this game. Ive played it from release and up until i quit playing seriously a month or so ago i had seen/done nearly everything that could have been done in the game and I can count the amount of weeks i spent as Prot in ~ 3 years of playing on one hand.

Ive been arms like 95% of the time i played the game and never regret it. I HATED prot and tanking, it was just soooo boring to me for some reason. However youll find some people that love to tank, its up to you. Play the game how you want to, not how you think you have to

If you are hardcore into pvp you are gonna hate prot. On my warrior I leveled arms and thought that was fun, but I decided to spec prot and try out tanking and actually really enjoyed it. When I was instancing I always felt like every pull my job was important and I was always tryign to do something unlike say my mage where I just hit frostbolt over and over and occasionally sheeped something. If you really like PVP though I say go arms, get the ridiculous arena gear, and enjoy one shotting cloth wearers. Oh and get yourself a good holy pally friend so that most likely you will never die...

I leveled to 70 with arms, finished all quests with arms to be able to buy epic flying then respec'd to prot.

Now i'm prot and loving it.

My buddy is finishing a holy pally and we are gonna do 2v2s (thats when i respec back to arms/fury mix)

we've had a DPS warrior in every kara we've run, and we own every single boss 1 shot (2 tries on stupid shit like people nubbing out on netherspite and nightbane). Also, we usually have a dps warrior in our 25 mans. they are definately useful as offtanks who can dps when not needed (although i wish they'd stop crying for windfury every 5 seconds).

I open it with charge (unless pulling) then bloodrage. Then I do one shield slam and then 5 sunders (usually with a taunt or two mixed in). Then I'll do all random stuff (devastate, shield slam, shield block and revenge, and heroic strikes)

what else would be better to do?

alliance is fine. i play a draenei shammy on stormrage. decent guild 2 25 man teams, one is on leotheras, other one is on lurker (prob pwnt this week, i missed the raid, hes ezmode).

Yea....I joined a guild entering SSC and we went to Lurker first last night. Raid leader obviously had NO idea what the fight was like at all, and a lot of people died to pretty much anything possible, like sprout, getting stuck under the platforms from a geyser/whirlwind, and couldn't burn down the adds. Pretty disappointing for my first raid, haha.

don't charge. Most good tanks i see use bloodrage and then run in. They never charge. Helps with healing positioning range (and healing in general) and timing for dps.

also, keep applying sunders. Just because there is 5 doesn't mean the threat stops when you use it again. keep using it. I would sheild slam when i could and sunder when i could.

Shield slam and revenge every time they are up. Work in the sunders when shield slam and revenge are on cooldown. If you have extra rage (50+) queue up heroic strike. Using gear with higher shield block value will help.

My skill rotation on pretty much any fight is revenge, shield slam, devastate, devastate, replacing the devastates for sunders at the beginning of the fight until there are 5. For raid content I also queue up heroic strike every swing unless I'm hurting for rage and shield block every single time it's up.

like azaka alluded to, if you have devastate, using it after 5x sunders will give more TPS than sunder at that point. the single most highest snap aggro tool you have is shield slam. Depending on the situation, it was most always the first move i used.

tanking raids is by far the most fun i've had since i started wow. Mage is the most fun class I've played all around, but the involvement of MT/OT is def. something in itself.

took me a few tries to do it completely, and the crystals that you get to use the special abilities arent even needed unless you messed up near the end. read the strat on thottbot for it, it is useful enough to a point, but once you do it once and understand it, its really easy and a very good way to make a lot of money selling the depleted items you get from it.

I stopped doing daily quests because I had better stuff to do with my wow time (level up my shadow priest) and it took like an hour to do all the quests for what, 100g, when I could make more than that farming the black temple supplicants.

Also stopped because the demon banish area is over farmed and the 'drop rate' on dark runes is so random and low it wasn't worth it.

i play with a core group of people that are good, but there's always a few spots that have non-competent and non-reliable people.

I don't know what other classes can do it, but at the black temple there's a tier that has nothing but melee guys fighting each other, like 20 of them along with an elite who patrols the area. What I do is run through all of them and get to a corner (away from the elite) and just start spamming consecrate and holy shield, they die eventually. They drop a lot of netherweave, sunfury signets, and the odd arcane tome along with the usual gray weapons and occasional green item. I've gotten 2000 dps during a pull. They also drop health and mana pots pretty regularly.

The important part is the consecrate killing them all, they are all essentially rogues so they hit fast but not very hard, so for a prot warrior i'd say stack as much shield block rating with a shield spike and the sporregar shield if you have it (deals poison damage whenever you block). You should use figurine of the colossus for a big heal.

There's also the spiders outside of Allerian Stronghold that are really easy for a prot paladin to farm in the same way.
