This. You might think you're doing the kid a favor, but you'd be surprised how much they can pick up about the state of your relationship. It only causes them more stress, and skews their view of marriage. Take it from a kid that grew up in a situation like that.

I played referee for my parents everyday at the dinner table (the only interaction they usually have). I was 10 when I came to the conclusion, oh well I guess they will get divorced. I wasn't too worried about it. I acutally kind of wish for it because they couldn't stand eachother most of the time. I would have to talk to them like fighting 5 year olds to get them to calm down. I remember being highly stressed and depressed and hating my life at 10. Flash forward, I can't say what 'caused' it, but I have high anxiety . Also my parents are still married 10/19/2016 1:07:14 PM |

I went through two divorces* before graduating high school and it didn't affect me one bit. I also didn't really like my dad or step-dad, so that's probably why.
But you still shouldn't stay married "for the kids". These days, they're probably outcasts if their parents are still married by the time they're 10. Go ahead and split up...it will help your kids fit in with the rest of the kids from broken families.

Liver enzymes are high. I haven't had a drink since the 7th. Doctor told me to not drink again until after the test on Wednesday (but probably not for a while after that because of everything else going wrong)
Now I want to drink....I was fine as long as I knew I could drink if I wanted to, but now that I'm not allowed to, it's killing me. 10/20/2016 2:36:40 PM |

Yeah, but do you think that it is possible that your mother had some influence here regarding you not liking your father and step-dad. For example, maybe her bickering about personal problems regarding their marriage affected you, or maybe, she wouldn't let them see you as much as you would have liked?10/23/2016 5:24:58 AM |

The basic rule in discovering something in science is to always be 100% certain that nobody has observed your discovery before. Check every reference that you can find to make sure that it has not been previously discussed. Trust me, I can't tell you how many times that I thought that I had discovered something new only to find that I was just re-developing something. Furthermore, you definitely don't want to have your reviewers figure this out for you, as that will be embarrassing to your PI.
The second rule, of course, is to try to prove yourself wrong and exhaust all other possibilities. Not into bugs, at all... but have you ruled out the possibility that it may be a parasite or a growth that has somehow infected the critters in your sampling population. Have you pooled this same critter from different geographical locations and from different ages/maturity?
Then, you need to support your claim. In this case (again I am a Chemist, not into bugs), it would seem logical to try and figure out its function.
This all sounds exciting, have fun!

my best Marathon time is 3:31. My best 5k was right at 18:20. But this is back when I was in the best shape of my life. Would take at least 20 months of training and conditioning to get back to that. Right now, I am just happy to compete without enduring a further injury.

thanks for the advice but the organism I am working on is not well understood and I can count on one hand the papers published describing any morphological features, and since it was my supervisor (who is an expert in the field working on this organism for the last 7 years, who also has like 4 patents and 160 publications) who brought it to my attention that I found something, so I have confidence that he knows what he is doing.
we have also pooled from Michigan and NC, they are a highly invasive insect with not many pressures, so at this preliminary point we are assuming there are not enough selective pressures to support a hypothesis for subpopulations
But this will in no way make me rich or famous like a discovery in chemistry would, there is really no gain other than adding knowledge to the entomology community so it's more of a yay, look what I did type thing.... but I'm all like SUPERYAY.

I hate Trump as much as one can hate someone they never met, but I am failing to understand these protests.... I support the BLM and the Dakota pipeline protests, those people have every right to be upset. I wish people were equally invested in those violations of human rights rather than putting this much energy toward someone you didn't vote for. I really just don't understand. I voted for the woman in second who wore a costume. The third and fourth and fifth place entries are also more deserving.
Plus, I suspect the girl in first could probably afford her own machine if she stopped blowing so much money on whatever she's doing to her face. 12/4/2016 8:00:11 PM |

2) "Vote for the girl in first" -- bad way to give directions. Contest is open till December 9. Is she going to stay first till then? No way to know.
