Awesome, happy for you!

Thanks!

Nah, work is great... I work on a uni campus, and 95% of my time is spent with students (and they love me!!!), so I don't encounter any of the nastiness that some people unfortunately do in the corporate world, even though it is Trump-country down here in Louisiana.

Now I am wondering if I should wait longer to cancel my ticket, considering that the EO has been revoked for now. Wonder if things will get better or worse. I think I will wait to see how things change by late March before I cancel my ticket. The worst thing is that he is very unpredictable, and even if things are OK just before I travel, he might pull something out of his ass while I am outside for 2 weeks which might give me extreme difficulty when returning or prevent me entirely. The risk is extremely low, but the consequences are severe. I don't know... I will wait till March though to cancel if I cancel.

thanks, I start Friday

I can't say I would share your confidence if I were in a similar position, but I am glad you are staying calm in the wake of this clusterfuck. I sincerely hope that this holds and we do not see another freeze on legal residents and greencard holders and other people trying to do the right thing and be legal here. I really cannot wrap my head around that. Anyway, I hope your family is doing well

It cracks me up when I read posts on facebook about people wanting to get out of this shitty town with all the shitty people. They can't stand the drama, everyone is always in everyone else's business.

Like I live in the exact same county as you, I go to the exact same bars as you, I've lived on the exact same street as you, and I have pretty much zero drama, a great group of friends that are supportive, a wonderful fiance (that is also from this county), a great job, receiving a great education....

Then, they move away, and they have the exact same shit happen to them in the next place

Stop blaming the location on your problems, those problems you have are things only you can fix.

Man, I have some friends with some really ugly babies. I feel so bad too. Like they post a picture "look how cute _____ is, I just can't stand it" and of course, I like it. But damn, your baby is ugly.

I mean most of these babies get older and then they turn out to be cute.

Now I feel like I'm going to hell for admitting this

So there is a guy on my Facebook that posted a pretty graphic picture of women barely clothed and catering to a rich man in a hot tub. With a caption of Happy International Women's day. (He's one of those guys that think women should sit down and shut up). Well he is married with a toddler daughter.

All the comments on that picture are just guys acting like pigs and objectidying women.

I so desperately want to comment saying "awww that could be your daughter one day!"

murrca doesn't appreciate me, so i am applying for immigration to canada

wish there was a points based system here for immigration of skilled workers like the rest of the white english-speaking countries do

i did the points thing online for canada and got enough points to qualify

still hope to settle down here, but it seems that's probably not going to happen

^Nah cause then all the responsible people's taxes would go up to make up for the deadbeats who don't pay and to cover the loss of the interest on the excess money people withhold every year.

Plus there'd be so much money wasted on prosecuting the deadbeats.

Man, it's weird. There's a psychological phenomenon where when multiple people witness something going wrong, they all assume that someone else reported it. The net result is no one reports it.
Happened up here in DC (silver spring) a couple of years ago. One coworker, after hours in the back of the retail clothing store, murdered another coworker. The thing is that multiple people in adjoining businesses heard the commotion, but no one called the police. Why? They all assumed that someone else alerted the authorities.

DHL is the worst. Ordered something on March 10 (expected delivery Mar 15-17) and it shipped from Hillsborough, NC via USPS en route to GA on March 11 in the morning. Then it was turned over to DHL in Raleigh on March 11 in the evening. The package then arrived in Forest Park, GA on March 14 and was then "Tendered to Delivery Service Provider" on March 16. Now, who the fuck knows where my package could be.

My fat ass got diagnosed with the diabetus.... (not really surprising since I have PCOS and both my grandfather had it, and my mom has it, and I'm a chunkster)

Although, in the past month I've lost 8 big ones. Mostly probably because my medicine that I've been taking is causing me to shit everything out. But also because I'm eating a diabetus diet.

I got put on a new medicine today that is supposed to help me lose even more weight, because apparently I will literally just be "peeing out calories" - my endocrinologist.

So here is to this new journey....

^ Sorry

Type 2 diabetes can be reversed in 1-2 weeks with diet alone, in most cases, if you know what you are doing.

Well in the past month I know I have gotten my average blood sugar down. It was around 240 and now I'm down in the 150s. My endocrinologist put me on new medicine and wants to see how I do after a week. So maybe it will be even lower. Before dinner tonight it was down to 119, which is pretty good.

I just miss mother fucking ice cream.

But when it comes to the perspective of having one of my feet fall off or looking good in a wedding dress, I'm going with the wedding dress.

^^

Is that FBS? 240 is crazy! If it has been that high for a while, why did you not take steps to fix it? And by fix it, I mean, actually fix it from the bottom up (nutritionally), not fix it from the top down (medication).

119 is much better, so that's a great improvement, but you need to bring it lower.

Sure, take the medication, but realize that medication is only a patch on the outside. If you want to permanently fix the issue (and also not take medication ever again), you need to fix your diet, permanently.

You have two options:

1) LCHF (low carb high fat) ketogenic diet: High fat (butter, olive oil, coconut/oil, cheese, nuts), high non-starchy multi-colored vegetable intake (lots of dark leafy greens), moderate animal protein (flesh, eggs, cheese), fruits low in sugar, mostly berries, no milk, starchy vegetables, grains, or legumes. Eat fruit and veggie skins. No added sugars, fast food, junk food, or highly processed packaged snacks (most are made from highly pulverized white flour, nearly as bad as eating sugar).

2) Whole plant-based foods: High multi-colored vegetable intake (lots of dark leafy greens), beans/legumes, moderate whole intact/rolled/cut grains (almost no flour products), nuts, fruit, no animal foods, and very little added fat. Eat fruit and veggie skins. No added sugars, fast food, junk food, or highly processed packaged snacks (most are made from highly pulverized white flour, nearly as bad as eating sugar).

Yes, treat yourself to a square or two of dark chocolate (or whatever your sin is) daily to stay sane, but keep the calories reasonable (< 100), and you definitely can't afford to have a whole "cheat day" each week, like those without diabetes can.

Either diet will fix the issue -- decrease insulin resistance and take one off medication -- within 1-3 weeks in most people, but one of the options is better for your health and the planet's health in the long run, not to mention, cheaper, more feasible and easier to sustain in the long run, so choose wisely.

What's the diet your doctor has put you on?

Newsflash chief, I don't need your advice.

Here is the real newsflash, which is so Goddamn obvious: If most doctors knew anything about nutrition, let alone treating nutritional diseases, obesity, heart disease, and diabetes rates wouldn't keep on soaring worldwide.

The vast majority of atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, high BP, stroke, and cancer cases worldwide are either treatable or preventable through diet. But what actually happens? Not only are the cases increasing (forget prevented), but the medical and pharmaceutical industries make more and more money every year.

The advice is free; anybody can take it or leave it. You can add years to or take away years from your own lifespan, nobody can force you to.

Oh, I'm good. I've had a consultation with a nutritionist. I'm on a low carb, high fat diet. I'm watching the glycemic index of foods I consume and I try to keep them low. Today was weight in day, and I am now down 10.6 lbs. I am definitely on the right track right now.

My endocrinologist did inform me, however, that since my diabetes is genetic, that any reversal will be temporary. Eventually, no matter how well I maintain a healthy diet and exercise it will come back. Now it may not come back again until I'm in my 80's. However, she did say that when/if I get pregnant I will have to be extra vigilant.

My blood sugar went unchecked for a long time, that is probably why it was so high and out of control. However, I have quickly brought it down, and I hope to get off the medicine, or at least lower my dosage.

I now have a whole group of doctors, friends, and family that are looking out for me. Thanks for the advice though. I appreciate it!
