the only way a druid is going to "top" any sort of dps chart is on a fight like vashj or on trash. chain chugging mana pots because the spec is very very mana inefficient, a druid can kill stuff fast where they dont have to watch aggro and it doesn't stay alive a long time, where dots would tick, rogues would build cp, warriors rage, etc. this is the same spot where an elemental shaman shines, only the shaman has worthwhile buffs and can still heal amidst nuking. feral druids are only around to increase bleed damage of rogues and warriors and give 5% crit to the tanks or enhancement shaman and be a tank for token encounters. while they own in pvp, their raid dps is pretty lack luster as they can't benefit from wf, their weapon doesn't scale with their AP, and they have no sort of energy regen like a rogue.

feral druids are awful in arenas and decent at best in battlegrounds. they most certainly do not own in pvp.

i guess if you're talking about their raid dps and utility, you should specify what content you're talking about. it may be true that in BT and hyjal, their dps gear is outclassed, and they cant MT anything...i wouldnt know as i havent been there yet. but i know that in TK and SSC, i've MT everything up to this point at least once, and i've even been #1 dps on some of the fights. its just a matter of gear and attack rotation. certainly thats not what you're relying on your cat druid for, but it can be done. you can at least provide decent damage to go along with the innervate/b-rez/emergency heal/emergency tank utility.

so they have a prayer of catching something. if only they could purge debuffs off themselves.. I'd play my shaman. rogues have a shitty version of warrior intercept as a 41pt talent, it helps catch druids, but it's too far down a shitty tree to get imo.

I beat a druid/war with a shaman/rogue combo. I targeted the druid and made sure to shock every heal attempt, while dispelling the warrior with a focus macro. Rogue went to town on the warrior with slowing and wounding poison. War targeted me, but with 14k armor, ES and heroism, he wasnt able to do much damage while the rogue wailed away from behind.

Without macros to heal myself and dispel the warrior without detargeting the druid, we wouldve been toast. Also, it was in the 16XX bracket.

Been away from WoW for a long time (more than a year) but I just saw the in the latest patch notes that exp required for leveling between 1-60 is decreased, and quests give more exp from 30-60.

This has enticed me to start back up, but is it a significant reduction in required time for leveling?

Yeah, you fly through the levels now. I just made a new mage and got him to 60 in 4 days /played with essentially no rested experience just by doing quests. Plus I was able to skip all the zones I hate. Make sure you swing by Dustwallow Marsh at about level 35-37, there's a bunch of new quests there that are pretty decent.

BC came out, I bought it, started new (deleted my 60 to not tempt me to play him), got to level 53 and just got bored with the grind.

Now I have a 53 druid, fully rested. Guess it's time to find out what BC is all about....
