Not yet. With a ring and amulet with +45% bow damage (helm too?), repairing my Daedric Bow of 24 fire dmg and soul trap, I think yields me 509 dmg.
And I have Daedric arrows, but with that bow, I could be using rock arrows and still do major dmg.
The only things Im not one shotting are awake dragons. Im going to do the Galdur amulet/Saarthal quests and then work on the main to get the notched pickaxe.
My enchanting potions are at +36%, and my fortify smithing are at +147%. 1/18/2012 12:24:34 AM |

speaking of the notched pickaxe, i was at the Throat of the World the other day and didn't look around too hard so I didn't find it but I did test out the dual wielding (regular) pick axe and it sucked dick as a weapon...but im sure it mines 2x regular like advertised 1/18/2012 12:42:41 AM |

I don't know why I thought there was a Lvl50 cap. So imagine my surprise when I hit 51 today and was like WTF
I had been super picky about my skill trees because of that! Now it's game on!
Question: Is Daedric weaponry the best forgeable stuff? I've got everything Glass now, didn't want to spend the perk unless it's worth it. 1/18/2012 4:41:29 AM |
brianj320 All American 9166 Posts user info edit post |
i think Daedric is the highest, therefore the best, type of weaponry that can be forged and/or found in the world, before enchanting.
how do you guys feel about the lack of weapon maintenance in Skyrim versus say Oblivion? i remember that as you used a weapon it broke down and you had to basically repair it to use it again. while I think that is a realistic issue to face does it add or detract from the game?

My Battle Mage Build is only viable on PC. Console is terrible with quick switching between magic and melee.
Things to Consider:
*Two-Handed (Mace/Axe/Sword) - These all have Strengths and Weaknesses. Choose Based upon Armor.
*Armor Type (Heavy/Light) - Heavy means less Stamina in the early levels, but more protection. Light means more Stamina for power attacks, but less protection. If you go Heavy, I would go Mace, as you will have less Stamina for power attacks, and won't rely on Critical Strikes, rather base damage. If you go Light, you will have more Stamina for power attacks, and Swords has the greatest Critical Strike chance. Axe seems to be the Harmony between Mace and Swords, and provides a Bleeding damage over time bonus.
*Destruction - Only distribute enough Perk points to get Dual Casting and Impact.
*Restoration - Only distribute enough Perk points to get Dual Casting and Respite.
*Blocking - Only distribute enough Perk points to get 3/5 damage reduction while blocking.
*Smithing - Focus on these in the later levels, once your melee/magic combos are viable.
*Enchanting - Focus on these in the later levels, once your melee/magic combos are viable.
*Stats (Health/Mana/Stamina) - Very Dependent upon your weapon of choice and armor type. If you go (heavy+mace), you won't put many points into stamina at all, and would focus on health mainly, with mana as secondary for Destruction/Restoration for when you are out of stamina for power attacks and need to combat heal or destruction magic stagger. If you go (light+swords), you will put most of your points into health, and divide evenly between mana and stamina for more power attacks and critical strikes with swords and destruction magic stagger. 1/18/2012 8:57:57 AM |

I actually kind of missed it and felt like I was cheating. It was an annoyance for sure overall, but it added to the feel that you were getting worn out in the field, and once your shit started to break and you didn't have any repair tools you had no choice but to hoof it back to camp. Once back, you rest up, unload your loot, repair the gear, prepare for the journey (disease pots, armorer items) and head out again.
One of my best experiences was when I got lost in an absolutely massive underground goblin cave network in Tribunal (Morrowind expansion), all of my armor was destroyed, my weapons were shit, and I was having to scavenge gear and potions from the goblins I killed. 1/18/2012 9:00:58 AM |

I dont miss using repair hammers at all. I always hated carrying multiple hammers since you'll always break them unless you're a master in Armorer. Smithing is a much better skill, no point in having both IMO 1/18/2012 11:29:54 AM |

just did the mannequin trick with my daedric armor, it recreates a set, only drawback is if you put enchanted legendary armor on it, the extra set you get is neither enchanted nor legendary...but the amount of daedra hearts and ebony you need to get them in the first place is definitely worth it
i took lydia's legendary non-enchanted daedric armor, gave her my old stuff with decent enchantments, then enchanted her legendary stuff with grand soul gems to get better bonuses than my previous armor...only thing i probably shouldve done that i didnt was take an enchantment potion before enchanting the armor...i dont have any gear that boosts enchanting yet and havent disenchanted anything that would give me that enchantment

I'm thinking about seeing how high my fortify archery potion can get, and enchanting a Falmer helmet and a circlet with fortify archery as well.
This would bring me to 5 pieces of gear giving +47% to archery + whatever my potion would give.

^It raises 6 of your skills (depending on the path you select) by 5 levels each.

And disappears afterward. Much better than whatever gold a merchant would give you for a book worth 2500.

^^Yeah, I'm not sure how. I read it when I first got it, but didn't advance to page 3 or however far you need to activate it. I think I put it on a book shelf and read it from there and did Path of the Shadow (read without putting it in my inventory). Then I did it again for Path of Strength but it disappeared from the shelf. 1/20/2012 10:23:21 PM |

^^ there is an exploit in the game that allows you to use the book as many times as you want...like ThePeter said, you go to a bookshelf and activate it...on the bookshelf menu, go to the Oghma Infinium, read the book, then put it on the shelf...then pick up the book and choose not to read it...then activate the book shelf menu...Rinse & Repeat.
After I was where I wanted to be in the game (Level-wise), I did it about 40 times to level every skill to 100...got me from Level 54 to 81. 1/21/2012 9:09:19 AM |

what is a radiant encounter? heard that term in a couple google searches about the following:
i was in the Falkreath Jail doing a mission and come across some Redguard who just shows up as 'Redguard' when you target him, he asks me "what is a milk drinker like you doing here" or something close, my options are "sorry i'll leave" or "you shouldn't talk to me that way", which opens up another dialogue option with either Intimidate or Persuade speech choices...either way i've gone, he attacks you, but i reloaded my game once and after he's kneeling down, if you let him live he'll get back up and wont attack you...but you get the same options again
i dont have 100 speech or anything, wondering if its worth using some potions/speech-enchanted apparel to see if he can do anything?
--
reloaded, my speech is at 63, i took a potion to boost that to 93, then bought a perk to increase persuade by 30% i think, tried the persuade option (i'm not looking for any trouble) and he says "who said anything about trouble?" and now just says "get out of my face" any time i try to talk to him...i guess my speech/persuade was high enough to not have him attack, but i still dont get it, i guess its just some hardass bethesda put in the game randomly
--
nm, shouldve started with uesp instead of google but encounter vs quest yields very different results http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Radiant

-imp soldiers or stormcloak soldiers escorting a prisoner -the "milk drinker" challenger -elves escorting prisoner -bounty hunters -orcs asking to be killed -ice mage fire mage battle -????? -profit
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Random_Encounters epic shit, the dlc for this game will be awesome i hope they keep adding to this kind of stuff

****Minor Stormcloak Rebellion spoilers*****
I didn't buy a house before we raided Whiterun. Ever since the battle, there is a guy named Brill dead and naked in the middle of the road beside the blacksmith. Supposedly this is the guy I'm supposed to buy a house from.
So can I never buy a house in Whiterun? Is the dead naked guy just gonna lie there in the street for the rest of the game? 1/25/2012 4:36:45 PM |
