yeah that shit is not common at all, except apparently for high ranking political figures.
After Hillary, Trump (which is a somewhat different case), and Biden, I'm barely even surprised to hear about Pence, too.
The brazenness of Hillary Clinton and Trump is mind boggling...but what is maybe equally mind-boggling in the Biden case (and too soon to say on Pence) is that he had a bunch of Top Secret material for years, and nobody apparently realized it was gone. Unless there is more to it than I'm aware, that is a huge deal. 1/24/2023 11:32:20 PM |

In all seriousness, I could see how at the highest levels it could be very easy to lose track of classified documents in circulation. The sheer volume of them going through the President, VP, congressional members, cabinet members could make it next to impossible to keep track of things, especially for items at the lowest level of classification. Duke can correct me, but I suspect that at the lowest levels, nobody is tracking individual copies, and it wouldn't be unheard of for a Pres or VP to want to hold on to a briefing while mulling a related decision, and have that copy get lost in the shuffle. Top Secret shit is obviously different, someone's got to be tracking individual copies, so it does boggle the mind how that could end up in a garage for 7 years and nobody noticed it was missing. Unless, you know, the whole thing is a clusterfuck 1/25/2023 12:28:44 AM |

All the Secret stuff I can think of that I ever dealt with was catalogued as individual copies. TS stuff definitely is. Maybe there's some exception, but I can't think of any. Probably the loosest would be working papers, but even those are logged, with every page numbered.
I never dealt with a whole lot of Confidential. Most stuff, if it's worth classifying, is Secret or TS, sometimes with other qualifiers, (such as ACGU, NOFORN, SCI--possibly with further controls like SI, TK, GAMMA...or even codeword level access, which I never dealt with.)
Secret level stuff is mostly treated seriously in terms of accountability, but TS stuff is a whole different ballgame in terms of both accountability and how tightly guarded people are with it. You'll see people tiptoe and hint around Secret stuff, pushing the bounds of how much they should say, but TS is just about universally treated with an ironclad, no-grey area mindset of "Do not talk about Fight Club."
I can definitely see how it would be easy for screw-ups with the volume of material they are dealing with, but if there's TS level stuff sitting around people's unsecure houses and offices, and nobody even knows it's missing, then that is definitely fucked up. 1/25/2023 1:00:44 AM |

there’s also the theory that more things get classified in an effort to stay away from FOIA requests
so what maybe wouldn’t have been deemed classified during another era is now deemed classified to keep the press from digging too deep 1/25/2023 1:01:48 AM |

What they need to do is go through past CIA and FBI top level folks' homes and see what they can find.
Although at this point, everyone's shredders have probably gotten plenty of use so it's too late. I'm sure this is a widespread problem, not limited to just the top two members of the executive branch. 1/25/2023 9:17:40 AM |

Granted, Seymour Hersh has largely been considered a respected journalist, particularly earlier in his career; however, even mainstream new stories are viewed with suspicion when they only reference a single source with no documentary evidence.
Here's a direct link to his Substack article, for reference:

The funny part (not funny) is how the accident and the response to it was partially influenced by gutting regulations and government agencies. You mean that had tangible consequences? conservatives like to say that the media is biased against them and yeah cnn and all definitely are in the way they report
but at the same time they like to present it as if they are some oppressed minority fox news is huge and more biased than the others, all those tiny hypercharged biased outlets which have no equivalent on the left like the daily wire, breitbart, etc. same thing with the radio stations like the rush limbaugh one that used to be
I think tucker gave a speech once on how the right needs more institutions like the NYT, which are and admit their liberal tilt but are of a high quality and not just culture war spaz but I don't see how that can be given how dumb the GOP is right now 4/24/2023 11:57:38 AM |

Do you think extending housing allowances to everyone would solve the housing crisis? Lol what
the best example is california despite whatever they keep on doing in terms of credits and whatever, they cant really solve the issues
in fact, they've had to sue their own cities occasionally regarding these issues
you can keep on spending and doing whatever but until the root cause is fixed, you won't really end up with anything sustainable
Quote : | "Building subsidized housing—or for that matter, market rate rental housing—is illegal in most parts of the U.S. Local zoning laws prohibit structures other than single-family detached homes on the majority of land across cities and suburbs." |
is a good example walking around a city and its different neighborhoods is also typically a mind opener
redistributing based on credit score itself seems like a very weird way to do it why not just directly target the wealthy elites? 60% of americans have a credit score above 700, 20% above 800 not much of the 1% being targeted here4/24/2023 1:15:57 PM |

We're talking about housing and you mention the GI Bill, which in relation to housing has that. I suppose you meant that it was a successful federal piece of legislation, but I don't see how that is a valid argument cause it is just way too generic so I didn't assume that
