I am DONE with this game. Finished it, finished all the guilds, and mopped up all the achievements.
Jesus fuck I am so glad I will never turn it on again. It sucked close to 100 hours out of my life. Next up, Fallout 3 2/24/2012 1:39:29 PM |

Fun question... How far did everyone get before you figured out fast travel via map? (as opposed to using the cart guy to move you around). I only ask because of people having wildly different play-times vs completion.
After playing Morrowind so long ago, I was just assuming I'd hoof it everywhere. I was probably 10 hours in or so before someone told me. 2/24/2012 2:08:35 PM |

After playing Oblivion, Fallout 3, & New Vegas I was fast traveling right off the bat.
I still spent a retarded number of hours on that game. 2/24/2012 2:16:11 PM |

your opinion is, like, your opinion, man
i got (i think) 200 hours of out of oblivion (and probably just as much from morrowind)...to get half that would make me sad
i'm sure there's someone out there who got in a solid 20 hours and is happy with their purchase...i'm glad i have higher standards2/24/2012 2:30:27 PM |

do you know something i don't know? yeah, didn't think so
this wasn't meant to be an argument...all i said is that i'd feel like i'd wasted my money if i got half the entertainment out of skyrim that i got out of oblivion and morrowind
i couldn't care less how many hours a person does or doesn't play...i'm just glad that i CAN get 200 hours of entertainment out of it, instead of half that

about four hours.
recently, i've been trying to not use fast travel.
just to kind of extend play. but there's some boring ass shit around.
also, when using fast travel so much it feels like 65% of the time i'm playing i'm sitting on a loading screen. fast travel to city, enter building in 15 steps, wait again... blergh.2/24/2012 3:57:12 PM |

i figured out fast travel pretty quickly...though obviously you have to discover the places to be able to fast travel (though the horse and carriage will take you to any of the main cities, and you can go into jarl's castles and click on the flags on the maps on the table to add forts and stuff)
sometimes i like just wandering around looking for new shit, usually finding bears that attack me, but i'll be damned if i'm gonna ride a horse or run from Riften to some city on the far west side of the map just to deliver a book or something
also how come i'm some Imperial Legion badass with the utmost respect from General Tullius, but when a few imperial foot soldiers are walking some worthless stormcloak prisoner and I get within 50 feet, they don't even recognize my gangster] 2/24/2012 4:04:35 PM |

riding on a horse is all fine and well until a couple wolves come up, you have to get off the horse to fight them, and one of them kills your horse
and when I pick up my horse hide from the dead horse's inventory...i'd rather have John Marsten skin him on some heh heh, hold still] 2/24/2012 4:15:48 PM |

shit man i didnt know horses could die
i use shadowmere as bait for dragons that keep getting distracted by mudcrabs or some shit.
except i accidentally jumped off the college of winterhold's walkway riding shadowmere once. that was... awkward.
prolonged falling sequence, followed by splattering and my guy getting stuck in some precarious position.

i've had a horse get killed and then come back to life somehow
i fast traveled somewhere and my horse was waiting...but i didnt ride him there, he just appeared
then a dragon appeared soon after, killed my horse in the course of battle, but the next time i fast traveled somewhere he was back
maybe since i didn't interact with him after fast traveling? i dunno...at least i'm at the point now where 1,000 coins isn't shit and i don't care if my horse dies
also where do you get Shadowmere? i read about him early on in the game but never came across him, i did have that horse i stole from that Letrush guy but he died 2/24/2012 4:34:58 PM |

why is it so many games give such shitty rewards for long-ass quests.
like collecting the stones. tracking down all 24 takes a good long while. by the time i got around to finishing it off, i was lvl 62 with 300k in the bank
so the rewards is a shit ton of gems to be found in chests and the like? oh goody - i can spend even MORE time traveling around to find merchants to sell shit to (even though i've maxed out the speech tree on the merchant side) for money i don't need
give me some uber piece of gear or some great stat boost. i doubt anyone needs the money by the time they're done with the quest 2/24/2012 6:58:05 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148436 Posts user info edit post |
i've got either 22 or 23 of them...i was told earlier ITT to curb my enthusiasm for the quest reward, but i just figure if i'm searching every nook and cranny of a dungeon or castle or wherever, i'm gonna find em anyway and eventually get it done...i have over 100k and am level 50-something so yeah, dont really need it either
one time though i found one and when i took it, some dude in the room acted like i had stolen something from him...i did think that was pretty weak] 2/24/2012 7:39:41 PM |

I got lucky with Kvenel... ran past him into that spot behind the coffin and he followed me and got stuck. went around the room and killed his other dudes and by the time I got back, Breylanna had fucked him up for me already.
speaking of which, she was following me and now somehow she's not. I went into this stupid Sightless Pit without her and she's gone. now I can't get out of this place without going through the Temple of Xrib which I really don't feel like doing. hopefully she'll pop up back in Skyrim, she was carrying a ton of shit for me. 2/24/2012 8:28:03 PM |

some missions/buildings dont allow followers, they end up meeting you outside when you're done...not sure about the quest you're talking about, but unless the follower died, its possible its just a quest you have to do alone 2/24/2012 8:34:13 PM |

Tip #1 for getting Proudspire Manor for free: Pickpocket the Fletcher in Solitude for his Solitude Fletcher Key. Open backdoor to PM. Profit.
Tip #2 for getting Proudspire Manor for free: Stand between Falk Firebeard and the cabinet behind him. Start the dialogue to purchase PM. Purchase it, and CANCEL the conversation, quickly turn around and put your money in the cabinet. Wait for key to drop in inventory. Take money back out of cabinet.
Tip #2 also works on all upgrades to PM.
I imagine you could do that to the other houses in Skyrim, provided close proximity to cabinets. 2/26/2012 8:36:02 PM |

You can do #2 for all houses as far as I know.
You will never ever ever run out of money in that game though, so I don't see the point other than doing it for the first time in Whiterun. 2/26/2012 8:42:49 PM |

I use to try and exploits like you... then I took glitches to the face and have the corpses of the Companions gliding above the ground following me and forcing dialogue. Gonna do a final playthrough... gonna do it by the books. No glitches. Going to get my 15 daedric artifacts achievement and retire until DLC. No more flying talking corpses. 2/26/2012 10:24:14 PM |
