Yeah sometimes it takes a little luck. Also be aware if you let it sit trying to get the right combo it will go away after a few days I had it happen with 2 pieces of 655 gear made me sad . So even if the chances are low make sure you run guys at it after its been there for a while.

I have probably 10 at least now that are epic and 650+ ilvl which makes it a lot easier since they all have 2 abilities each.

the legion cinematic was pretty damn amazing. definitely generates some hype. i'm pretty intrigued by all the features they're adding/changing like the challenge modes and dynamic scaling of zones. seems like they're making an honest attempt to overhaul the monotonous "level to max, do dungeons till you raid then raid, raid, raid while everything else becomes obsolete" type of gameplay that's starting to get tired.

thankfully i've made enough gold from the garrison to fund tokens for the next 3 years of subs.

I'm taking a class that is "training with simulations." They've got us playing video games and analyzing how effective they can be with training army functions. Anyway, for the term, we have to play at least 8 hours of a MMORPG.

If you don't know anything about Warcraft lore you will just sit there and think WTF is going on the entire time.

I completely disagree

the problem is the people who "know the lore" know all the extra shit that's going on like Saregras, etc and the people who think they're missing things and think they're supposed to know who or what those are. People need to not worry about names or places and try focus on what happens instead of what they're talking about. Me thinks a lot of those people were placed in the movie so that if sequals come they go "oh hey wait a minute, that guy was walking around during the first war, that's cool"

People who don't know the lore like my wife are presented more than enough to make sense of this story. They state the fel is evil, she said ok. She didn't need to understand the promise of the Titans and the blood of mannoroth and the rise of the horde.

She just needed to know the fel was evil.

outside of that the plot is very well spelled out in the movie. The orcs world is dying (it doesnt matter why), a evil sorcerer is going to take them through a portal, humans are on the otherside and don't like their villages burned. They contact the guardian who protects the world (any more than that doesn't add to the story and just confuses. Who cares why he became the guardian or how.)

Spoiler:

the only real point she was confused was when Medivh cast ley line seal and blackhand and durotan were spared. So I said, "oh by the way... they're not all infected." She said "ok"

The cube thing was pretty odd, but even then they say "i dont know" "it's never done that before"

which you could maybe call lazy writing, but in the end doesn't confuse people without lore knowledge anymore than with

Saying the why of things doesn't matter is a bit ridiculous. Of course it matters.

Sure you don't need to explain the entire backstory of the Warcraft universe; stuff like Sargeras and the pact made with Mannoroth can be hinted at for those who are familiar with the lore.

But you can't just make a move center around a character like Medivh and not explain what he is or what a guardian is.

The concept of this movie's story told isn't hard to follow; noone is saying it is. But all of the stuff that makes any of the world or characters interesting is presented in such a way that you would have to already know about it going in. Otherwise its just gibberish names, terms, etc and boils down to human knights fighting ugly green monsters; oh and there's a wizard.

I feel like they missed an opportunity here to start building their world from the ground up for film in the same way the games built it. Start off with a smaller scope and focus on better character development on the side of the Alliance first and delve deeper not only into the orcs origins but more into azerothian history too (kirin tor, guardians, etc) in subsequent movies.

And they did explain why the orcs world was dying; it was attributed to gul'dans fel magic.

My main problems with the movie were:

1. Attempted to cram way too much stuff into the movie.
2. The cast choices for Khadgar and Medivh were horrible.
3. Why did the allspark show up in Azeroth?
4. That golem was almost laughably bad; why did that make it into the movie?
5. Not sure Lothar having a child needed to be there.

I think the complaint about choppy editing can be tied back to just how much stuff they were trying to show in the movie.

1. Gul'dans invasion
2. Durotan's revolt
3. Durotan's family issues
4. Durotan's relationship with Orgrim
5. Lothar's relationship with his son
6. Lothar's relationship with Garona
7. The formation of the Alliance
8. Medivh and his fall
9. Khadgar and his ascention
10. Garona and her origin/arc

Thats just off the top of my head. Weaving all that stuff together into something cohesive would be a nightmare and I don't think they pulled it off. I can understand why people would find it choppy.

All this complaining aside, as someone that is familiar with Warcraft lore, but by no means well read or an expert, I did enjoy the movie. It was a fun experience.
