We have made progress, but we still need to make more.[Edited on September 10, 2019 at 10:39 AM. Reason : Can't believe capitals of many southern states are still at the bottom of the list.]

^^ My fault entirely. Disregard the $1.9 billion 40 acre megadevelopment when discussing development in that part of town.

what's interesting to me as I look through that is how much density increased compared to what I remember. interestingly, when it was 2007, I felt like Raleigh was such a big city. So much going on and activity everywhere. now, 12 years later, I feel like Raleigh is such a small with much more needed density, even when considering the residential density that has taken place east of person street and south of MLK. I'm not sure what it is that drives this discrepancy. I can only assume it is that I am used to everything here now that it's old hat and less impressive and that I'm better traveled and have experienced and read more about what growth can do for a city.

giant tree in Nash Square/in front of Berkeley coming down next week
9/25/2019 6:11:10 PM
Can someone post a pic of the tree?
9/25/2019 6:14:30 PM
9/25/2019 6:50:24 PM
Is it coming down cause it is in poor health, or for new development, or what?
9/25/2019 7:03:39 PM
it’s dead and it’s lost a bunch of is biggest branches over the last 6 months some even without any kind of wind
9/25/2019 7:13:19 PM
It’s being replaced by a poke restaurant.

is it possible to claim the wood from it if I had a project that I wanted to do? it would be cool to have the wood be from a piece of Raleigh that I recognize, rather than just some stuff from Capital Lumber.
9/27/2019 8:56:40 AM
I would hope that something memorable would be done with the wood. It's been that way on NC State's campus now for a while. Everything from memory benches, to small wolf keepsakes to trunk sculptures.

not even North Hills really (which is good bc there's already enough traffic there atm)

11/14/2019 1:35:34 PM
^^I mean, it's on St. Albans just a half-mile or so from the Harris Teeter in North Hills right? I'd have to imagine it's going to add more traffic at North Hills.

I watched the meeting and yeah there isn't much in terms of options to save the Berkeley. This is what happens unfortunately in the gentrification cycle.
9/21/2022 3:59:48 PM
there are few hail mary’s that are possible the City Council could vote No on re-zoning
9/21/2022 4:40:15 PM
yeah and monkeys might fly out of my butt
9/24/2022 11:18:28 PM
there are more potential outcomes that don’t involve City Council voting against re-zoning
9/24/2022 11:44:57 PM
the Berkeley building is no longer part of the re-zoning
10/3/2022 5:58:32 PM
That's great news. I'm guessing they're still making the cafe move out tho? I checked their insta, but didn't see anything.
