"CaelNCSU: The support across the population, even in minority groups, disagree with you. His campaign was flawless from about mid-summer on. Fascist Nazi attacks look pretty weak when Orthodox Jews are driving campaign buses around to support him. The Orange Cheeto/He's just a reality star attacks were smashed when he was shot at and took the baddest political photo of all time.

It was also clear the elite backing he didn't have shifted. Zuck refused to endorse anyone and he picked up the Silicon Valley crew and Elon, which used to lean in effect 100% Democrat."

Your engagement levels are a credit to your trolling.

It's so successful that I have no idea what your true opinion is about anything.

Good job!

Trump didn't take the photo you referenced. He posed for it.

Like a boss.

I voted for Obama twice. In 2016 I didn't vote for president because I was mad about drone strikes, Bernie, the bailouts, etc. Trump is repugnant and narcissistic. He also seemed to pick a bad team once in office. I thought not voting Clinton would send a signal and they wouldn't run an establishment stooge the next time.

I was primed to be radicalized into actively supporting the right-wing when I saw Santa Monica turn into a shit hole the 10 years I lived there. There is no excuse for letting addicts throw needles in the street and build tent encampments in residential neighborhoods. For all the talk about Trump being uncouth and uncivilized he's not advocating for policies letting people shit in the street.

The covid policies, along with the 2020 riots have destroyed what used to be a beautiful, clean luxury shopping area along the coast. It still sits about 50% empty and about half the tourism traffic from 2019. From the evidence democrats seem to support ugliness and turning every civilized area into a dystopian hellscape where any critical talk which could fix it is censored by bureaucratic hall monitors.

The mRNA treatment which had never worked in the previous 10 years of research being forced on an entire population under threat of losing a job and no long term studies across the population was just A treatment for a disease that had the median death of 82, which was known since at least April 2020, was not worth any unknown risk in other populations. It was amazing to see regulatory hurdles get removed, but forcing anyone to take it when the mantra of the left had been "my body my choice" for the last 20 years is unbelievable. The incentive for fraud is too great when that much money is at stake. "Show me the incentive and I'll show the outcome". The left seem to completely ignore incentives.

I've been critical of the media since at least 2001 or 2002 when it was primarily a left-wing issue (I still have a photo from that era in my photo gallery here). I still buy the argument that the media is a propaganda arm of the defense department to keep us into overseas conflicts and steal more and more of our resources is just as valid today as it was when Eisenhower made the warning about the military industrial complex.

I was explaining why I voted for Trump after being a college educated two time Obama voter and spending my 30s working in Southern California. I understand how a college educated democrat living in the south would have a different vote than me.

^^^Overall, thanks. I think that gives me a better idea.

I don't think getting shot at and then posing for a photo magnified for propaganda fundamentally increases someone's fitness for office. I'm also not particularly enthused or heartened to see someone propped up by self-interested billionaire oligarchs.

I went the complete other direction. I voted against Obama twice for no good reason -- just a family history of supporting fiscal conservatism. I voted third party in 2016 (a complete waste), but after Trump's term and observing the GOP sycophancy and rationalization of every lewd and insane thing, I'm done with them. I'm surprised that others are increasingly gravitating to it, but everyone's perspective is different.

Sorry for your experience in California. You've voluntarily lived in two of the places in the country I have no desire to live or really even visit.

We live in an Oligarchy and have since at least WW2. It's just which Oligarchs you support. In 2012 team Red Oligarch was filled with Oil and Gas, defense, the Kochs, and the blue Oligarchs were the new technocratic class, lawyers, bankers.

"Circulation of the elite" is what we are seeing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circulation_of_elites

TBF I'm just living in Florida because I have 3 kids (2 out and one about to be born) and my dad is 82. He can't be traveling to NC to see grandbabies. NC would have been a better choice if not just for the jobs. The remote work drying up because of fucking Elon, in part for sure, has been bad.

^ Which fools? The one that runs 6 companies, innovating across domains, parlayed a Twitter buy into becoming one of the most powerful people in the world or the Yale educated lawyer that wrote a best selling novel, made a movie, worked in VC, and ran a successful Senate campaign?

OK, so Elon Musk wasn't already one of the most powerful people in the world owing to being the richest man before he bought Twitter? Now he's just even more effective with his propaganda.

^ he was under legal threat on numerous fronts. He was threatened and disrespected in the media and by politicians openly. He was rich, but not powerful.

Underwood:
Quote :
"Power is like real estate
"Power is a lot like real estate. It's all about location, location, location. The closer you are to the source, the higher your property value".

Power vs. money
"Money is the McMansion in Sarasota that starts falling apart after 10 years. Power is the old stone building that stands for centuries. I cannot respect someone who doesn't see the difference".

Respect the game not the player. Is Underwood to be respected in the show?

It was just obvious what Elon was doing 2 years ago and to see it play out that quickly is impressive.

"This is delusional. Harris basically stfu about identity. Hillary kept talking about how SheD be the first woman"

...and Hillary lost.

Quote :
"They ran Joe Biden in 2020…"

...and he won.

For Harris' part, yes, she didn't run on identity politics, but a meaningful portion of the Democratic Party is out of touch with the mainstream on this stuff, and that is a drag on Harris (and others), in my opinion. I think it's considerably more of a drag than you appreciate. I don't meant this as a slight, moron; I think you're a smart guy, but...dude, like I've said a few times before, you really don't seem to "get" the rest of the electorate.

Quote :
"That’s not a democrat policy. That’s a prison healthcare policy that none of us has the background to understand. That’s sort of a core problem with trumpism. They pick issues that seem controversial but actually have perfectly normal reasonable explanations (like the tampon thing). I can see why a campaign would do this— lying to people and whipping them into a frenzy is a good strategy. But in reality that’s actually a non issue. Smart people should not fall for transparently disingenuous propaganda"

...but people are mostly not smart, and you guys paint a bright red bullseye on your foreheads for the GOP to do that shit to you. It doesn't matter that it's not in the (D) platform or whatever. A significant subset of Dems say wacky shit about social issue stuff. You can reply that the GOP focus grouped trans stuff and the Dems were forced to defend them, but the hard reality is this: it's a losing issue, at least in the way you're handling it. I'm not saying to sell them down the river, but maybe something along the lines of "No, not being able to figure out if you're male or female is not a well-adjusted, equally normal different way of doing business...but we believe in treating these people with compassion and dignity, just like if they were schizophrenic or whatever. They didn't ask for this and aren't hurting you...they're coping with a problem the best way they can, and we should, at the very least, not be making things harder for them."

Quote :
"She needed about 100k more votes in each of the swing states

I think a solid appearance could have made that
"

I don't think there's any chance that an interview with Joe Rogan would've closed that gap.

Quote :
"decided to this time when i saw the dems waited 3 years to weaponize the justice system against him with criminal charges for election season."

WTF?

I haven't seen any weaponization of the justice system to start with, and I certainly haven't seen any delays to make it coincide with election season. What I've seen is a crook get away with all manner of stuff than anyone else would have gotten crushed over. What I've seen is someone with vast resources in terms of finance and influence (all the way up to SCOTUS) delay the system in a successful effort to to run out the clock.

...and in any case, he was absolutely nailed dead to rights on most of the charges.

Quote :
"^ Which fools? The one that runs 6 companies, innovating across domains, parlayed a Twitter buy into becoming one of the most powerful people in the world or the Yale educated lawyer that wrote a best selling novel, made a movie, worked in VC, and ran a successful Senate campaign?
"

Those 2 aren't fools, although I question the judgment of one and the integrity of both.

...but there are a ton of morons within Trump's inner circle, and I strong suspect it will be much worse this time around. The first time, there were plenty of smart people (and also some morons). He just often wouldn't listen to them and fucked things up despite them, and then fired them. Towards the end, not many qualified people would work for him, and he didn't want them anyway--he wanted sycophants.

I think both of those problems are going to be more severe this time around.

What’s the over/under on the # of press conferences he’s going hold over the next 4 years for the deportations? He’s going to make a charade out of every murderer/rapist/drug dealer/gang member/etc kicked out…it’ll be hard for the democrats to match that kind of fodder. He really outplayed Dementia Joe and team, made it look like a chess match between Bobby Fischer and Bobby Boucher.

Smart people do fall for it and in incredibly large numbers. People are not rational, have never been rational, and will never be rational. Rationality is used to justify your actions to your tribe so you don't get clubbed to death. This was written about in Roman times, in the Enlightenment philosophers, and in the 20th century with the Behavioral Economics craze (Kahneman et all). A person with an 85 IQ can't use a multi-function remote control. You will never reach those people with a well-reasoned position.

People vote on aesthetics, narrative, and their own personal experiences. The only way to combat propaganda is better propaganda, hopefully from people that will use it for good.

I'm still kind of upset Kamala was the shoe-in candidate (same as Trump, but IDC about that side of the aisle)

both sides need to put up the strongest possible candidates

make sure they're college educated to PhD level, or at least Masters

maybe an IQ test and at least 10 years prior experience in politics

are we ever going to get anyone in charge who can make common sense rules like that? I'm dumb as shit and I can still tell you that these are 100% things that *need* to be done. sure, even if they're smart they'll probably still be corrupt on some level or another, but I mean at least put up articulate candidates, idk. Kamala sooort of seemed like she knew what she was talking about, but clearly focused on the wrong issues

we need an Obama #2

jk IDK what we need

^yeah I hardly dip my stick into politics but even I noticed that

I remember asking (probably on here) but I don't remember.. why is it we didn't have a formal primary? are we just starting to bend all political rules now because Trump's effect on our culture is that pronounced?

not quite

the dems just gave him the ol' anti-democratic treatment.

his entire deal was that joe biden never should have run for re-election and ran just to draw attention to the fact that Dems were going to sleepwalk into a defeat to Trump if Biden didn't drop out. But the Dems and the media suppressed him. He got like 20% in NH and then some state Dem parties (like NC) just went ahead and cancelled the primaries (just left him off the ballot entirely) rather than let him potentially continue to gain ground on Biden. so he dropped out in March.

if only they had listened to Dean, maybe we wouldn't have gotten stuck with loser Kamala.

[Edited on November 11, 2024 at 9:14 PM. Reason : the campaign manager for Yang2020 also ran Dean's campaign. Dems really really don't like outsiders]

before dean ran against biden, he tried to recruit those presumed "credible" candidates to run instead. nobody would. they were too pussy to go out there and tell the truth that biden wasn't going to be up to the task of running another campaign against trump let alone another 4 years in office. and that's why i don't trust any of them for 2028 either. the people want truth tellers.

i believe hunter was selling access to joe for millions to china and ukraine, joe got 10%. If don jr did that he would be in prison right now.

if joe killed the investigation for hunters tax evasion or buying a pistol while being a crackhead that would just add to list of reasons joe shouldnt be the president.

would prefer hunter not get a pardon
