anyone know how the game calculates your pvp rank and what title (private, sargeant, etc) you get?

yea ive read a ton on it. i wish i had some of the links saved here at work cuz i cant remember a lot off the top of my head. for one as im sure you know its not just based on a number of kills. ie 200 kills=scout 300 kills = private etc. its also not based on contribution points like 200 CP = scout etc.

(altho i do think the very first rank does have a set minimum but after that more or less follows a formula).

its partly based on a lot of things. one is the number of ppl participating in pvp in your server. percentage if you rank of CP vs other ppls / total number of ppl in YOUR faction participating in PVP for the week. so 2nd/100 is not as good as 2nd/1000 on another server. on the server with 100 ppl particpating in PVP the only the top ranked guy may get the highest rank for that week. whereas on the server with a 1000 the top 10 may get it (say if thats 1% of the ppl who get the top rank..im not sure what hte real percentage is but its something at least that small).

also it takes several weeks to move up all the way to the top. the above formula i listed is more or less used only once enough ppl have been doing it for several collective weeks because technically you are only supposed to move up one rank a week. so after the first week i believe everyone was either a scout or private no matter how many kills they had (this is horde ranks of course). but now youre starting to see ppl higher up there because a new rank at least one each week is/was(could all be unlocked now) being unlocked each week or so. (on tuesdays of course).

as far as HK and contribution points (CP) go im sure you know that you get a certain number of CP for each HK based on the amount of damage you dealt to the target or at least how much you participated in the fight (ie priests healing etc). in groups and raid groups you get CP shared (im not sure of the formula for this) among all near members of the group.

also the amount of points you get has "diminishing returns" if you kill the same person over and over within a short period of time (ie camping and killing camping and killing the same guy)

This is false and is why priests don't heal in pvp anymore. CP is based solely upon how much damage you do to the target, healing is not a factor at all.

Nope, CP is based on the damage your party does. So while there's no reason for a priest to run around solo healing random people, grouping with one keeps you both alive longer and nets more CP.

^^ Notice I didn't correct that part of his post because that is one of the most clear parts about CPs (party dmg). Some of the other issues are not so clear though.

Really unless you are raiding with guild only there is no reason for a priest to heal because that is just kissing our CPs goodbye. Especially in WG where it is AoE based and priest stays out of range for CPs most of the time.

Open up the macro screen, click new, paste your macro in there, click complete, drag the macro to your hotbar just like you would a skill. WHen needed click on the macro in the hotbar to run it.

so yea..um this new whirlwind axe kicks ass...it crits like a mofo. i dono why it crits more considering it added no agility or anything but yea it defintely does. my crits were not that common before i picked up this axe and my highest one was 645. im still the same level as when i picked this thing up and in SM (first real time usin this axe) in about 30 seconds i critted for 821..then about 10 mins lated crit'd a fully sundered 35 elite for none other than 1443.

still havent gotten back to 1443 again and might not ever with this axe hah but still i was impressed. ive gotten around 1000,1100 a few more times tho. I have been pwning in BG with this thing too. seriously. Taking on rogues, warriors, pallys, mages. priests alike solo in the BG a couple levels above me (wasnt happening before). im in the 31-40 BG obviously as a 36 and ive been fighting a lot of 40s and winning. solo killed this 40 human warrior about 50% of the time in warsong in one instance. so in short...any upcoming warriors...dont forget to quest for your whirlwind axe in your 30's!

woah. hm...whats your tree looking like? i did the first crit thing under fury and thats about it i think. maybe one other thing. and then impale and im working on all the other crit stuff under arms as well. i sunder armor a lot now..i didnt use to and it makes a HUGE diff. i always keep my battle shout updated, and am always sundering. bloodraging right before executing adds to your execute too of course if your goin for the big hit with the execute.

get some near full rage executes in too, especially with sunder armor and youll reallly see the high crits

Granted I dont use berserker stance. I use normal stance.

I use sunder armor a lot too, but I havent paid much attention to the damage number when im doing that.

The 500 crit was in normal stance with no sunder armor and a normal heroic strike that doesnt have any buffs to it.

With my warrior we usually fight stuff right at our level or maybe one or two above. and I usually have a priest with me. Ive got this guy built to be a tank, which is probably why I dont see very big damage.

bastard can take hits like a mother fucker tho

haha nice...yea if he you are going defensive and built like a tank then you wont see these crits. you gotta go mainly arms with some fury too. but then again dealing decent damage and taking a lot more than i can, can work out to be just as effective many times. and yea...priest with a good warrior is hard to beat

blizzard hasnt, and doesnt currently have any plans to delete characters ever. So you can take breaks and if you decide to sign back up, your character will be there.

Blizzard is fucking genius.

Other MMO's surmised that threatening to delete accounts would ensure steady business. But not Blizzard. Blizzard understands that treating a customer's product poorly is just like treating the customer poorly. An account deletion policy only creates anomosity between the corporation and the customers. There are better ways to keep business... simply release a superior product.

I dont know anything about the Hero class, but it sounds like a good addition.

My undead warlock is just over halfway to 19. I get a succubus at 20 apparently that is supposed to be very helpful.

The warlock has been very easy to level so far.

Do you realize you can simply quit and re-activate your account at a later date when cooler shit gets implemented. It's like your paying for blizzard updates with monthly charges... I might do that if they don't fix the honor system, which "supposedly" gives epic gear.

anyone on that hero class? is it your same character but say moving above 60? or totally new classes like a new Orc class? like Orc blademaster etc. and do you think they would just unlock to ppl with 60s or what? i really know absolutely nothing about them. even if someone has somewhat of an idea thatd be nice

Im on blackhand, my guild has been taking down onyxia and doing mc runs lately.

Im interested to see what other warlocks crit, since critting is being discussed.

If im wearing my raid gear, i regularly crit around 2800-3000.

When I crit twice in a row i actually have to stop attacking for a bit to relax, so i dont draw aggro from the MT.

Anyone been playing BGs a lot? We are starting to be regulars at it, and really enjoy it. We just need more horde on our server so the wait isnt as long for alliance to get in to the BG.

so one of my chars is like locked out of Dire Maul at the east entrance.....
i submitted a petition (3rd one actually) and this was the response:


Petition: "Still cannot zone into Dire Maul through the east entrance."

Answer: If you destroy the hearthstone you have now, and acquire a new one from an inn keeper, you should be able to enter Dire Maul without incident. Sorry for the trouble, and I wish you luck in there!

Hero Classes are suppose to be a way to evolve your character after you hit 60.. That is about alol the information that is known right now, everything else is speculation and mostly battle net kiddies creaming over the fact that they might could be a demon hunter
