I'm good for 20 minutes of attention in any meeting

Anything you say after that, I'll have no retention of whatsoever

So the 90 minute meetings are a big waste of time

Also, you blind people who read with your fingers, underling every word as you go along:

Do not do that on my screen, tracing your grease laden masher along my pristine lcd monitor. Its bad for the screen, and I have to get a wipe and spray cleaner when you leave to remove the grease trail. Its poor manners.

Love when my boss decides to start emailing me at 6:45pm about stuff she needs me to get done.

Especially when I haven't heard from her since 1 this afternoon.

Awesome.

From the "how the fuck did this guy get rich ?" department...

...An investor had always pronounced "fiscal" as "physical", but I just thought it was his accent...until today when he tried to correct me on my powerpoint.

Stupid fuckin' heeb...of course, he would never admit he was wrong, either.

1. People who complain about how much money they used to make before the dot-com crash
2. People more interested in enforcing their job duties to the letter than getting shit done
3. People thinking their 45 minute conversation about "24" is somehow more productive than TWW or fark
4. Anyone in the ITIL army

People who stutter. Badly.

When I've got new calls coming in on the other lines. I feel bad when I have to interrupt them to say "I need to put you on hold for a moment."

I'm on the top floor of my building and the elevator is notoriously slow. I absolutely hate it when people take the elevator to get from floor 2 to floor 3, or something along those lines.

Hate.

My only current annoyance is that my former boss thinks he is still my boss. He texts me, calls me, e-mails me, etc etc asking for forecasts and updates. Sorry bro, you don't sign my checks anymore.

People that work from home and join our conference bridge and ask us to repeat everything a million times because they are hard of hearing and too lazy to come in in the first place.

A System Administrator for a major government agency that asks me how I would make their system more efficient across the board. Seriously? Sounds like I should have your job and you need to go back to school.

Programmers that try to correct me about my methods for fixing a software defect during a staff meeting, and then later come to my office to ask me how I would fix one of their defects. You aren't fooling anybody buddy.

Was reading through some emails and saw one from someone in middle management who, in his email signature included his xxxxx@post.harvard.edu email address in addition to his corporate one.

To me, all that does is scream "I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT I WENT TO HAHHHHVAHD"

also, on the topic of email signatures

- graphical email signatures for internal communication. They serve no purpose except to waste bandwidth and clutter up email threads. (I can understand their purpose for sales/marketing people to deal with customers)

- Including titles or certifications that have nothing to do with your job role, or are excessive. Or ever including the title MBA in your signature.

I got an email from a colleague on another team who listed ALL of his certifications in his email signature. And he had every easily attainable certification that exists. All that told me was that he paid for a testking account and started collecting certs like they were happy meal toys.

yeah one guy continually sends his emails with "sent from blackberry" at the bottom

we told him repeatedly how to turn that off, but he still does it

some of the email lately from the boss to him end with:

-sent from my desktop computer
-sent from my laptop
-sent from my home computer between porn clips

I had planted a Sugar Maple tree behind the building on this little grassy hill, and someone came through over the weekend and tore it up to go sledding.

I feel like I'm working next to University Towers sometimes.

one of the guys that is soon to be retired (3 months) likes to have rubber band wars with another guy that will probably be retired in a year or so....if your cubical is in the cross fire, you might get hit....especially with the guy that has a year or so remaining....two of our senior employees....he is so off on his aim...like a scud missle zooming by....

also, when someone farts in their cubical and it slowly creeps into everyone elses....

Ditto, I've been emailing a guy I was in contact with last year, and after a few no-responses I finally got an email from his boss saying he passed away in November

regardless, I felt bad for 'pestering'...but they should update the organizational chart!

another annoyance....
I seem to be the only one cold in my office (between 69-70), and I feel bad. I'm right under a vent and have to sit with a jacket on, and it's like a magnet for people to ask me if I'm cold. Of course I'm cold!
My fellow co-workers, meanwhile, have desk fans and larger floor fans going to cool themselves down.

I give people more leeway on grammar, spelling, and punctuation when they are sending from their mobile device.

If it didn't say "sent from my Blackberry" I'd probably think they are just stupid.

Maybe that's reason enough to leave it up there.

When people print shit off and don't come around to take it, means I have to sift through 100 pages to find where my printout starts.

When people print shit off and don't come around to take it AND the printer runs out of paper in the middle of their job so when I go to get up I have to put paper in for them AND wait for it to finish before my job prints.

I love how the printers here spit out a color sheet between every job. Looking through a dozen blue sheets is much better than looking through 100 pages.

Microsoft Exchange. I've heard of the horrors, and was always glad I was exempt from having to use it. In my new job role, I'm required to use it for calendaring. Rather than separate my email from calendaring, I just migrated all of it to Exchange.

Annoyances after using it for one week (I'm using Entourage, btw, which may the the actual culprit in many cases):

- You can't drag and drop folders to change the hierarchy. For example, if I have a folder that is a subfolder of another folder, I can't move that subfolder to be at the same hierarchy level as another.

- Rules don't work for shit. I am more anal than a gay jew with filtering, and the exchange rules don't seem to work if there is any complexity to them. Many times I see an email that got filtered to a certain folder where there was no matching criteria whatsoever that should have triggered the rule.

- Entourage crashes at least 2-3 times per day. Prior to this, I was used to experiencing an application crash once a month or so.

- I can't simply add an event to my calendar without sending myself an invite to it.

- I don't see a way to view someone else's calendar without creating an event first and only then will it display that individual's shared calendar.

- No RSS support in Entourage. Not sure if Outlook has it or not.

- No extension/plug-in capability. I realize this is probably not a reasonable expectation.

I miss you dearly, Thunderbird.

It annoys me when women talk on the cell phone when they're sitting on the john in a public restroom. Aren't the flushes and miscellaneous bathroom sounds awkward?
