CJL is a great player, but he tries to do everything by himself, and gets frustrated and sloppy.

He really needs Brown or Lewis to give him easier plays than charging down the court, running out of gas early, and getting offensive fouls. He had like 7 turnovers because he was doing it all by himself. He needs to learn to let the point guard give him easier plays for more points using less gas.

:hatersgonnahate: He took over the game and got us the lead. Yeah he missed the front end, but he didn't miss a FT before that. Stupid frustration foul at the end, but that shit happens.

i've been pleased with his improvement from the free throw line over the last few games

even though he doesn't swish a lot of shots, his shots are pretty well-centered and he puts enough touch on them to get friendly rim bounces

He didn't look 100% and must've been exhausted at the end. Hope he'll be sharper against Duke.

because he couldnt dribble catch or stay in bounds against virginia, refuses to block out, and uses a pogo stick on defense.

Leslie is like that super smart kid in high school that never does his homework, goofs off in class and still gets good grades.

The blind defense of someone none of you have ever met and who doesn't give a shit about you is ridiculous. You ever wonder why during critical possessions when CJ is demanding the ball, we almost never go to him? Because he's just as likely to turn it over or take a bad shot as he is to score/get fouled. That's just totally unacceptable from your supposed superstar and upperclassman "leader".

The guy has single handedly cost us two games this year due to making the same exact mistake. In 1-2 years he's going to be a millionaire who could give a shit about who he played college basketball for, yet the mistakes he's making now are going to potentially cost us our best shot at winning big for a long long time. That's not ok.

Cool story bro.

You ever think that maybe, maybe, maybe we wouldn't even be in the game if it wasn't for him? If Vandenburg or TDT were getting all cjl's minutes, would we have won the Miami and Maryland games?
But again, that is a great story man. You really seem to know what you're talking about.

single handedly?

Wood's terrible defense, bad fouls that gave Miami points are also on Leslie?
our overall ability to break a press leading to 3+ turnovers in the last minute or so is on Leslie?

give me a fucking break. Neither the Miami nor Maryland game should have even come down to the last shot/possession. We had plenty of fuckups to go around in both games that would have left us in a much better position at the end of the game.

It's idiots like earl and shrike that lead the local and national media to mock our fanbase. fucking idiots.

I love the guy...but he's regressed a little as the season moves along. He's still putting up big numbers in points and rebounds...but he's been making more mistakes. He has horrible footwork and just makes boneheaded decisions. He's averaging almost 6 turnovers a game in the last three games and it should probably be around 10 if the refs called half of his travels.

His rebounding has improved. Which was something I criticized him on earlier in the year.

man, CJ is just lazy on the boards. The two tip in losses, once the ball is in the air he just waits to see if it's coming his way instead of bodying up. A lot of times Howell will have to switch his box out because of a CJ missed assignment and all of a sudden, put back.

Howell vs. Leslie the last 5 games:

55% FG, 82 points, 53 rebounds, 3 double doubles, 14 assists, 9 turnovers, 3 blocks, 8 steals, 8 points on 89% FT, 15 fouls
51% FG, 83 points, 52 rebounds, 4 double doubles, 6 assists, 25 turnovers, 5 blocks, 4 steals, 23 points on 68% FT, 17 fouls

almost identical in points and rebounds, Howell clearly takes better care of the ball, Howell has been shooting very efficiently from the line recently, though he doesn't draw nearly as many fouls as Leslie...they both get called for their share of fouls...wonder how many of each of their assists are to each other

yeah, the 7 turnovers in the win vs UNC didn't really hurt us...he only turned it over twice against Miami but we obviously lost that game

Also 7 TOs in the Virginia game, but at least a couple of those were because he was pushed over the baseline.

So basically Howell has been giving us all of CJ Leslie's production with none of the liability. Pretty pathetic considering how Leslie should be our first option on offense every single possession.

i wouldnt go that far...obviously their points and rebounds are about equal, and yeah Leslie turns the ball over a lot more...but Leslie also draws a lot more fouls which creates positives for the team, ie putting JMM on the bench 2 minutes into the UNC game

and even though Gott called a timeout towards the end of the Clemson game, CJL does always have the ability to get a rebound and take it coast to coast...sure sometimes it leads to a turnover, other times it leads to a dunk...when Howell gets a rebound, he's always looking for Brown or Lewis to take it up court...maybe he should be, but I like that CJL is versatile enough to get a rebound and take it 94 feet even if sometimes it leads to a turnover

I don't think he is NBA ready after seeing him play this year. Doubt he will come back though. He probably puts up big numbers in the NCAA tourney and then leaves for the draft.

Honestly, we are probably better off without CJL next year. Sad to say, but he's had plenty of time to adapt, and simply can't or won't.

i am sometimes baffled at some of our fans' stupiditiy.

right, we'll be better off without one of our starters and one of the most athletic players in the country. i'm sure we can find plenty of freshmen that are better than him. i mean, he only averages 15.5 points and 7.6 rebounds. i'm sure anya and washington will easily surpass that in their freshman year.

Would we be better if he brought it every single game and cut-down on turnovers? Yes, of course. Would we bet better if he wasn't on the team? No, that's just plain retarded.
