the best part was the talking heads dragging us through the mud for firing him (4 NCAA appearances in 5 seasons including a couple S16s!!) and now it's crickets when a job opens. Nobody wants him and it goes deeper than his win/loss column.

No one on the pod disagreed with Titus but they were all NBA guys who cared how DSJ fit into the NBA.

I don't think Titus was throwing shade at Gottfried, there was a reason he was let go at the end of the year.

I appreciate Gott for how he immediately changed the program after Lowe, but he definitely slipped at the end of his tenure. I don't have a problem how Gott was portrayed in that pod.

I'm convinced that most of the national "hot take" guys know that NC State is a reliable fanbase to troll. We have a disproportionately rabid fanbase for how bad our teams have been so it's super easy to throw out some bait and watch as the clicks/views roll in from State fans wanting to argue.

^ I mean, he said that he didn't watch DSJ at all this year because he refuses to watch Gott coached games. Quite frankly, it was a fair portrayal IMO because Gott is a bad coach, but I thought it was weird coming from Mark Titus who otherwise wouldn't have been close enough to NCState stuff to have cared one way or the other.

Lowe was a terrible coach who recruited well enough to gloss over for a season or two. Exacerbated by not being able to get a serviceable PG until too late.

Gott was a much better, but still bad, in game coach who recruited well enough to overcome his bad coaching for a few seasons. Got the PGs but couldn't get a star big man.

Agree 100%. Should be noted that Titus does a pod on the ringer with a UNC grad (Tate Frazier) and they pretty much troll all fan bases (including NC State). They have mentioned pack pride from time to time. Their intro is Woody Durham screaming "Technical Foul" (pod is called T'd Up). That shit doesn't bother me because I never got into the "fuck UNC" culture most state fans have (I came up during the Lowe era ) but I could totally see why it would turn most state fans off of Titus and T'd Up.

^^jeez team gonna be nothing but PGs next year. Let the coaches work, i guess, but wonder if this means they aren't confident in getting any of the elite 2018 PGs


Also, not sure where to put this but apparently Yurt is playing with national team this summer instead of going to Italy and is being/will be pushed by overseas pro teams. Not out of those woods yet I guess

i'm not sure we can read too much into it...we'll have lots of scholarships to play with in 2018. 5 seniors leaving, throw in Yurtseven likely leaving and that's at least 6 available scholarships. maybe the staff does wanna play more small ball or maybe they didn't wanna pass on this guy (who they knew and were familiar with due to AW Hamilton) for an unknown in 2018, who knows...but i don't think the extra competition is a bad thing. and because we'll be able to take a big class in '18 (and/or adding grad transfers/juco guys) i think we're flexible enough to take this guy without messing up much for next year. if a 5* guard wants to come here next year, i think we'll be able to make it work.

while his overall offer list wasn't great, he was committed to Ohio St and was a 4* on ESPN, don't think he's a bum by any stretch...we know Markell has a lotta potential and Batts was the #1 PG in NC this year.

I think Yurtseven has made it clear he isn't going to leave right now to go play in Europe. His goal right now is the NBA and going back to Europe isn't a step in the right direction for him. It's obviously not about the money or he never would have came here in the first place.

^^yea i'm not saying that guy is a bum but he was going to Miami Oh out of HS and apparently Ohio St surprised some people by taking him. Meanwhile there are some top 25 pg prospects we're on this year.
