^^Yeah but the most successful teams they had were not from the last two recruiting classes. In those they don't have anything about a 4 star in like 4-5 years.

I'm just saying that the trend seems to be older experienced teams seem to fair better in CBB lately. Not saying you don't need good players, just that you need continuity.

Bates is a shot blocking 4/5, Steere is a scoring 4/5 (Abu-ish Mayne), Hellems is a stretch 4 (somebody said taller Caleb Martin).

with our (likely) only returning big man next year being Hicks, i'd guess we may look at juco or grad transfer guys for some immediate impact and experience in the front court. or maybe hicks emerges this year as a viable option and the staff has faith in the incoming freshmen...who knows

Keatts has landed a 4* PG and 3 4* PF/C since he arrived in town, that's not a bad haul considering he hasn't coached a single minute of an actual game here.

Roster next year should be talented but have an interesting mix of experience(adding in the 2 transfers redshirting this year) and youth. I expect the next couple of years you're going to see us spot-filling with post-grads/jucos until we're able to build out a complete roster with good depth/spacing.

number of available scholarships is not just dependent on number of graduating seniors. unexpected scholarships become available because someone goes pro (nba or some other pro venture) or transfer. In fact, I have come to expect someone to transfer at the end of every year, it's just how college basketball works now.

And to clarify, here's our scholarship situation for 2018.

We are currently at 13 this year (max).

We lose Al Freeman, Sam Hunt, Lennard Freeman, Abu for sure. So that open up 4 spots...3 of which are accounted for by Steere, Bates, Hellems. Presumably Bey would make #4. We can certainly envision a scenario where Omer leaves, opening up another scholarship. Or maybe Omer + somebody else leave. Or maybe Omer and everybody else stays and this will be our full class. Seems reasonable to think we may have another scholarship open before the start of 2018 season.
