one of my friends suggested rogue i think. i'm thinkin about gameplay, story, and atmosphere (i.e. best zones), anything that would give me a good impression of the game.

Unless you play nonstop for 10 whole days, you're not even going to scratch the surface of what the game has to offer. I'm kind of partial to the Night Elves storyline, but the background story for all the races won't be revealed until you hit the higher levels (and even then some hasn't even been made yet).

The whole Defias/VanCleef storyline starts around lvl 15. Thats probably the most indepth quest chain, story wise you'll find at that level

starting human is the best bet for maximizing early enjoyment. just skip any quest that mentions murlocs.

yea if youre only playing for 10days play the heck out of the game. you still wont get the feel for the majority of the game and its better features tho.

starts to get much better as it goes on

the vancleef line extends to lakeshire, darkshire, leads to stormwind quest chains in the 30s, the stockades, and eventually to the onyxia key quest chain in your high 50s/60.

I have seen this game ruin lives. Some people don't remember there is a real world out there once they get hooked.

People bent on ruining their own lives will ruin them nonetheless.

Don't blame new technologies, blame the weak-minded who use them.

IMO, Night elves have the best starting zone. The zone is amazing, and its a small isolated island.

I like getting on after work for a few hours a night, but I don't see how some people can get obsessed with a game. Sure its lots of fun and beautiful, but its still JUST A FUCKING GAME.

Oh yea, and just hit 38 last night. Two more to the big one!

^^I might take you up on it, what is the name of the guild, what level are ya'll, etc?

I'm a Knight in Exalted Adversaries, but my schedule must be opposite most of the other guys, as I can't find more than 1 other guy on sometimes. And this in a guild of almost 50!

Its extremely easy to get addicted to games like this. Especially if you don't have many responsibilities.

you and I are in the same boat now man. Im still using whirlwind as my main 2h axe. Havent found a reason to change yet. But then again i havent played my poor warrior in a couple weeks.

my pally hit 24 last night. was late so i havent gone back and trained new abilities yet.

As far as the best starting zones with the richest story and environments it is definately alliance side. Which sucks because the story of the orcs is so much more compelling.

My dwarf paladin has had some cool quests and story lines, though to be honest I dont pay much attention to the story as I am playing. Nothing you do actually changes the environment so I think that detaches me from feeling like I am actually accomplishing anything. I just play it for the gameplay, beautiful environments, great music, and having something to do with my friends.

i totally agree. i pretty much just skim everything and read what i have to do its like ...bla blah blah collect 30 blood bone necklaces blah blah. ok lets go do this. hah.

and yea i figured id be using this whirlwind axe for awhile. i was looking on thottbot and i didnt see another axe that was profoundly better than this one that is readibly obtainable like this one for many levels. (of course there is always some axe taht has like a .1% drop here and there that is slightly better but not worth farming 100's-1000's of some stupid animal to try and find it)

have you done stonetallon mountains?

ashenvale is a good choice, things are a couple levels above you in there right now though.

what about the southern barrens?

finish all the barrens quests you can. have you run WC multiple times? i think i leveled from 20-24 in WC and got some good drops too. then i went in small groups of 2 or 3 to ashenvale and stonetallon mountains around 24. and eventually was able to solo it in a few levels. was there until about 29. then went to desolace with groups of 2 or 3 until 33-34. since then i went to shimmering flats around 34/35 and cant remember how long i was there just questing and grinding. then grom grol and Strangle Thorn Vale. now im running SM a ton. and who knows where ill be next..done a little dustwallow marsh when im not fishing or running SM

yea you should. i did it a few times at 18,19 but seriously i think i went from 20-24 in there. good XP for your level and a really fun one too. way better than RFC

i do remember in beta tho i was like some stupid retarded little kid who sees something they want...i saw the swirling portal inside Org for RFC and i had no idea what it was and had never heard of instances..i had just dl the game. i was about level 10 or so. anyways i ran in there. and was like "hm" and ran at some l33t snake and it owned me in a second

is the xp really that good?

i never seem to get much from grouping. i usually just solo stuff a couple levels higher than me and do quests.

The next axe you'll probably get that's better than the whirlwind is the Ravager (drops off of Herod in SM), or after you finish the SM quest line you'll get Bonebiter. Both good axes.

well yea when youre grinding but instances are diff. you get more XP from the creatures. yes its still divided but you tend to kill a lot of creatures in a decent amount of time. and then a lot of times youll have multiple quests taht get turned in for 2k XP etc. pretty good

the charred vale is high 20s.

But the base of the mountains with the taurens are mid - late teens, webwinder path is late teens, the quarry area is late-teens early 20s and even around that lake is mid 20s.

My 21 warlock has done a lot of quests in stonetallon. Plus Sunrock retreat is very easy to get to and has a whole new set of quests.

I have always preferred doing quests for xp and its worked so far. Grinding to complete a quest is one thing, but i rarely ever just go kill shit JUST for XP. If I am really close to leveling and want that level before taking on another quest I will grind, but thats it.

My one friend chose to sit at home and play WOW on a Friday night when we all went out to the bars. The next day, he was still playing, and a bunch of us were going out on the boat to go wakeboarding and have a good time, and he chose to stay in and play this stupid fucking game. Its sad.
