no, you can't use colons and semicolons interchangeably. and no, you don't know how to use either properly

i forgot that today is the day the entire hendrick motorsports team cars are here in my parking lot

all of jimmie johnson and jeff gordon's championship trophies are in the atrium across from my office

and jeff gordon will be doing photos and shit, like 15 feet from my door

shit happens every year and is a bigass distraction

couldnt they pick some place that's not in clear view of my chair to do this?

I've probably said this before but I hate when people e-mail me and leave the subject blank or put stuff like "hey" or "here" or "fyi" as the only part of the subject.

I get tons of e-mails every day and try to organize stuff into sub-folders but it is still a pita to search for stuff 2 months later when all someone sent me was "fyi" in the subject and then attached a spreadsheet for the entire body

If it is something I have to respond to, I at least add a description inside parenthesis into the subject so that it reads something like: "RE: hey (Contamination Calculation Spreadsheet)." At least that way I can find my response quicker when I need to down the line.

I love it when people conveniently forget to send something to the defense attorney before it gets to our office, so I get to scan it to them.

Especially when it's over 1,000 pages... and I can only scan 30 pages at a time.

It drives me crazy how silently my boss walks. Everyone else I can hear moving around and walking past, be it their shoes or their clothing fabric swishing, but this guy doesn't make a single sound. All of a sudden you'll hear his voice out of nowhere. It's just creepy, like he's a ghost or something.

^^^ I recently had someone try and correct me when using semicolons in a list that had modifiers after peoples' names that were separated by commas (ie John Smith, MD; Jane Doe, XX; etc.). I was all like . Luckily they were reasonable and listened when I showed them an example online

All the silent whispering and hush hushiness leaves me feeling like Milton when Lumbergh cuts the lights off when he's in the storage area.

I feel this all the time. There are people that have been working here for longer than I've been alive and they have more knowledge about this stuff than I could even think about. I feel so stupid when I ask a question that is difficult for me but completely trivial to them.

^ haha exactly how I feel. And as soon as I get comfortable doing something, I get asked to do something else that I have no idea how to do and I feel stupid again But at the same time the constant learning and constant change in challenges is also the reason that I love engineering. But some days I just wonder if I am ever going to be the subject-matter experts the senior engineers are here

Getting real tired of this energy initiative. Apparently Trane has control of our thermostats and they won't kick in until like 80 degrees or something.

Thinking about bringing in those hot hand things and placing them by the thermostat so the AC will finally kick in....

Two posts in 1.5 hrs but it's been a rough day!

I already mentioned the A/C problem, but we have a small fan for the entire office which at least keeps air circulating. Well the boss's kid and friend are here today so of course they started fucking around with the fan, turning it on and off and sticking paper into it. I was sure they were going to break it until someone finally told them to stop. Well 30mins or so go by and I figure it's time for a nice relaxing shit. Come to find out as soon as my ass hits the seat, the terror twins decide to come in the bathroom and start fucking around. Naturally I ended up wrapping my shit up quickly.

When people say what I know they're going to say before I even say what they're going to respond to with said saying.

When people say that they knew what was going to be said after the saying was said but didn't say what the saying was before it was said.

Also, when people draw pokemon figures on dirty unused computer screens. Grow up!

Or they know that throwing the darts back will just get them shot again.

Back in March:
Her: Let's do a mailing!!!
Me: Okay, here's the letter and materials that you wanted

Few weeks goes by...
Her: Here are the first rounds of edits on the materials (materials she had written already)
Me: Okay, here's the completed letter for you to sign and I'll get the edits turned around.

(Get her back the edits.. Next week...)
Her: I don't like that the letter goes to two pages.
Me: Well it makes the font really small going to one page.
Her: Make it one page, it'll be fine.
Me: Okay here's with one page. How are the documents looking?
Her: Will get them back to you soon.

Middle of May - After 6 rounds of edits (purely her changing her mind on wording)
Her: here's the final draft of everything
Me: Okay sign the letters and i'll stuff them
her: no problem, will get them to you asap

TODAY
Her: You know, the font is too small on those letters. So I rewrote them and you just need to re-merge and re-print them all.
Me:
