I was (mostly) a fan of Bobby Cox doing this with the Braves, so I dont totally disagree with his getting ejected to fire up his team, but do we really think that's what it is? I saw his note, and I think you can explain it that way, but Im not sure that that isnt just an excuse with him. That's a big game to get ejected in, especially after we had just beat the tar out of Navy and should have been feeling good and wouldnt have needed the motivation.

in baseball, like any sport, i think there are good managers and bad managers...duh. but i also think baseball might be the sport where you can most afford to have the coach ejected or suspended. it tends to be a more hands-off game and i don't really have any issue with avent doing what he did. i do think the 2 game suspension is pretty harsh though

i'm not really sure what Avent would have done differently if he were on the bench. Foxhall makes the pitching decisions and, for the most part, had made all of the right decisions.

The argument for NC State shit isn't due to blowing the lead, but how they blew it. In both the 7th and 9th, Kentucky scored 3 runs while only recording 1 hit in each inning. In the 9th, that hit was a bunt. It may not register as NC State shit but it was very self-inflicted and disappointing.

Also it is pretty easy to make the NCAA tournament in baseball from one of the 2 best leagues. We haven't made it past the Regional round since 2013 with Trea and Rodon.

Calling him a better version of Sendek is probably fair. And not even really an insult.

NC State baseball is the most consistent and best of any of the “main” sports in my lifetime (CFB, MBB, WBB, Baseball). Thats a pretty low bar but it feels like Avent catches a lot of shit and it’s not all justified. Criticism and frustration can be totally warranted. But it feels like some of it is just spilled over frustration from lack of success in other sports. I might be misreading some of it. But I can’t imagine all the people calling for him to be fired and bitching about lack of titles actually care *that* much about college baseball.
