its hard to do math on joeys strip times. the first 200' of his runs are on at 13 second pace, the rest of it is on a 7 second pace

if he could get off the street tires he might have something

are diesel motors usually done with MAP or speed density? venting to the atmosphere seems like a good way to stall out on something like my F250 which has a MAF

not gonna put a BOV on for the hx35, just thinking about being super cool in the future. Won't be a problem at all for a 2nd gen, and I've seen plenty of youtube vids of BOVs on commonrails, pstorkes and dmaxs

I'm contemplating cutting in a stovepipe for my 2nd gen through the toolbox. yeah, you ain't seen that shit have you.

[Edited on February 17, 2013 at 8:19 PM. Reason : nvm take it you have a gas f250]

^4x no, have seen it done, though. It's harder than a gas engine because of the boost levels - you have to hold the valve closed with boost, then when you dump the throttle it opens (somewhere in there it opens before compressor surge)...dont do it bro

^^^diesel engines operate by controlling fuel delivery.... I'd gander that some of the newer ones equipped with throttle valves may read airflow for emissions reasons, but the majority of the 06 and older trucks are controlled by RPM/TPS/Boost and the computer's fueling tables/curves.

^stacks are losing cred nowadays

yeah i laughed and you're right the common rail trucks have throttles and MAFs.... damn...

but up until them they didn't meter shit... they just controlled fuel

seriously if i were getting a diesel i'd get an extended cab short bed 12v cummins truck i think.

the main reason i'd want a diesel is reliability and now with mafs, electric injectors, 02 sensors and all the funky exhaust shit for emissions... i don't really feel the reliability is that much superior to the engine i'm building....

i mean i've never really had a fouled spark plug leave me stranded or throw a CEL that just really pissed me off.

just listen and close your eyes.....

CR standalone setup, 2.6" turbo

OP from thread on CompD says the run started at 4000rpm, probably ended near 6k. 3250hp dyno

can't happen-

now, next saturday, the race is on:

Here's what's gotta be done on the truck between now and then:
- increase pump timing advance from 20 to 24deg BTDC
- swap delivery valves
- swap pushrods (got some niiiice smith bros 3/8" x .120" wall units)
- swap in HD valvesprings, billet retainers & keepers
- readjust valves
- swap on billet compressor wheel (going from 7-blade BW ETT wheel to an 11-blade unit)
- swap on 0.91 turbine housing
- swap out undivided wastegate spacer for divided unit, re-plumb wastegate (stub pipe angles differ, else it would bolt in directly)
- fiddle with wastegate
- re-tune on the pump some

It's good to have a small man around when working on the rear cylinders of a cummins ..... They actually have holes in the bottom of the cowl for the rear pushrods to come out.

welp... not 95 this time. fastest today was 8.49@91.28 - 1mph gain

upgrades were worth 27whp peak, moved peak from ~2750 previously to somewhere in the 2900rpm range also with the advanced timing, and carried 400+whp out past 3500rpm.

Had fun, I'll post some vids/pics later.

apparrently he runs nitrous; those were fuel-only runs. so no, not 1100hp at that point.

Not to hijack but I got some lowering shackles for a 99-07 excursion and f350 if anyone wants them. They have never been installed.

...the feeling I get when seeing this type of performance is something akin to being on the edge of busting a nut in the hottest chick in the world while Lee Greenwoods voice comes in "And I'm proud to be an American..." followed shortly by the intro to Kickstart My Heart, all while chugging beer from a helmet rig and eating a 20+ ounce steak. Or something like that.
