If our defense can get to Renner, then I think we'll be fine.

We've actually played pretty well against the run, but have been very inconsistent against the pass. If our big guys can get some sacks and Amerson and company doesn't play like complete fucking idiots, then I really like our chances.

Their bad-ass oline is a little banged up and our guys usually blow them up when they're healthy.

I actually have a good feeling about this game.....which means we'll lose.

so here's the thing guys: i think tob just drills this game into their head all year long. he oft talks about how on the navy football team their mantra was "beat army sir" all year long. it's a huge point of emphasis for him and his teams, and you can tell by the quotes of unc players about how hard we come out in this game every year.

i'm also buying into the concept of tob teams tending to finish strong.

also, talking about unc wanting to finally win this game? i'm sure our team wants to not be the first to lose this game in 5 years. a lot of them probably also remember giving away the division two years ago. we have a lot to play for right now; a lot more than unc.

the other thing we have to do is run the ball well. their secondary is definitely suspect, but we need to run to open up big play opportunities. i think only louisville and dook were able to run well against them, and both teams used a 2 rb/3wr set.

I can't say for sure, but I'm not sure I've ever seen us run a 2 back set other than an FB, but everyone knows FBs are just backfield Tight Ends in TOB's world, so you don't have the same effect of gap confusion you get from a 2RB set.

What the hell are we going to do defensively against their spread offense? It seems like all of our defensive success this year has been due to our pass rush. How are we supposed to get to Renner in a dime?

If we could bring Bishop up like a corner, that would free up a LB to rush the passer, but can we really afford to leave Wolff all alone back there? I just think we need 6 men in the box. How else can we close down the holes for Bernard and keep pressure on Renner.

At any rate, I would rather make Renner beat us than Bernard. I guess I'm just more afraid of Bernard. If we line up in a dime, I think we're dead. That guy knows how to find a seam. Make Renner beat us with his arm. Get to him quick before he can find his man. That's all I can think.

However, I'm in charlotte and have to make the drive to chapel hill in about 3 hours....can't sleep. Not because of the game, but because I worked the last two nights on the graveyard shift and slept till 5 PM yesterday
