It's funny that he had to retweet it after misspelling Counsel.

You're right, though; the first tweet (from this post) was from his personal twitter account, and the second tweet (from your post) was from his POTUS twitter account.

This Flynn thing is funny.

WH: If he was so bad why didn't Obama take his clearance away (not how it works anyway)

Obama: I warned you about him during our meeting at the WH.

Uhhh, is this normal? NC asked for a shit ton of money, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of it was denied. But 99% denial? Come the fuck on.

They already got $300 million in federal funding in December, and over half of the money they are requesting now is for a program that was rife with fraud after Katrina. What's so special about those particular 4,000 houses that they need to be bought out while the thousands of others that were flooded are on their own?

Housing Elevation: $434 million for buyout, elevation and reconstruction of 3,962 properties that flooded during Matthew and are at risk for future flooding
Agriculture: $92.6 million to cover losses for farmers not covered by the USDA such as livestock, farm equipment, and feed

$300 million is paltry when you consider the storm caused $1.5 BILLION in damages. Those home buyouts are likely for homes too damaged to be salvaged or are located in the floodway/floodplain.

It's clear NC asked for a shit ton of money so I'm not surprised some of the funding got cut. But only sending $6 million? Ben Carson should have just spit in our faces instead.

why are people without insurance being reimbursed? And if the money is reimbursing insurance companies, then why are they being reimbursed? It's not the federal government's responsibility to pay for damages caused by living in a floodplain.

It looks like we only got about $300 million from FEMA after Dennis/Floyd/Irene in 1999, and those storms did more damage IIRC.

so how do you determine who gets reimbursed and who doesn't? They're only asking for money for a small portion of the properties that were damaged. Besides, you know good and damn that counties are going to hit people for property taxes on their destroyed property based on the last good appraisal and force the owner to jump through hoops to get it reappraised.

^^Floyd et al. Was def the most expensive at ~6 Billion

The OG disaster allocation was $836 million, of which ~300 million was state funds.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_recovery_in_North_Carolina

FEMA suggests total relief reached $1.9 billion
https://www.fema.gov/news-release/2000/09/07/approaching-one-year-north-carolina-floyd-assistance-more-19-billion

And the federal government runs flood insurance (well some of it). And Matthew is a testament to its effectiveness actually. 10s of millions (100s?) were allocated to hazard buyouts during Floyd. Matthew was a bad fucker in its own right. A 1000 yr rain event (easily) that set records for crest gauges on the Neuse:
https://weather.com/storms/hurricane/news/matthew-river-flooding-carolina-records

Because of Floyd's buyouts and floodplain regulation, we have reduced flood damage costs by a 1/3 despite Matthew's record setting flooding. Usual caveats apply: other factors increased Floyds destructiveness and these aren't necessarily apple to apple comparisons. But still, reduced development in flood plains over the last 17 years also played a huge role in reducing Matthew's damage.

Secondly, this money goes to a whole variety of places, including helping states not go bankrupt as they allocate money of already existing programs (unemployment, fixing roads and bridges, etc). This country has a strong history of financially helping regions affected by acute natural disasters and I see no reason why Matthew should suddenly be the exception. Hell, jumpstarting the region with focused relief is probably cheaper in the long run compared to just abandoning the region.

Speaking of taxpayer-funded charades. Though it makes perfect sense given it's been widely reported that he was furious about Comey's mildly nauseated by affecting election. This is a way to try and shift narrative to how he only lost the popular vote because of cheating.

http://time.com/donald-trump-after-hours/

A lot of interesting quotes and observations here.

Quote :
"The waiters know well Trump’s personal preferences. As he settles down, they bring him a Diet Coke, while the rest of us are served water, with the Vice President sitting at one end of the table. With the salad course, Trump is served what appears to be Thousand Island dressing instead of the creamy vinaigrette for his guests. When the chicken arrives, he is the only one given an extra dish of sauce. At the dessert course, he gets two scoops of vanilla ice cream with his chocolate cream pie, instead of the single scoop for everyone else."

Quote :
"A clutch of aides follow him, including McMaster, Pence and press secretary Sean Spicer. The President raises a remote and flicks on the screen, sorting through old recordings of cable news shows, until he comes to what he is after: a clip from the Senate hearing earlier in the day, as broadcast on Fox News. The first clip he shows is of South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham speaking to former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Graham asks if Clapper stands by his statement that he knows of no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Trump waits quietly, until Clapper admits that nothing has changed. Trump pantomimes a sort of victory.
“Yes. He was choking on that,” the President chortles. “Is there any record at all of collusion? He was the head of the whole thing. He said no. That’s a big statement.” Trump leaves unmentioned the fact that there is an ongoing FBI counterintelligence investigation into possible collusion, which has not yet reached any conclusions. Nor does he note that Clapper, out of government for nearly four months, could not possibly know everything the FBI has learned, and likely would have not known all even when he was in office. Trump also leaves unmentioned that he had a meeting that day with his new Deputy Attorney General about firing Comey, the director of that investigation.
But for now, Trump is focused on his TV. He watches the screen like a coach going over game tape, studying the opposition, plotting next week’s plays. “This is one of the great inventions of all time—TiVo,” he says as he fast-forwards through the hearing."

lol, the president has news clips queued up to show people

In case you're keeping track...

Trump's press sec said the firing was based on DOJ recommendation, Trump said in an interview the same day it was his decision entirely, and has been coming for a while.

Press sec said the firing was intended to bring the FBI investigation to a close, Trump admitted in an interview (same day) that he directly asked Comey about his investigation.

These are all VERY illegal things, more illegal than being an undocumented immigrant or possessing marijuana.

They all suck but Huckabees daughter is being taken out of context. She wasn't saying to end it in one direction or another but just felt it would be more efficient with a more competent leader. It's nonsense but it isn't sinister.

The communications team for this President must be some of the biggest self-haters out there.

[Edited on May 11, 2017 at 6:59 PM. Reason : And from what I have heard it's highly unlikely Comey said that but wouldn't be illegal]

^ that's sinister because there's no evidence Comey was mishandling the Russia investigation.

Comey did mishandle the Clinton emails when he broke FBI policy to hold a press conference about them-- but this impugns Trump because Giuliani admitted to be the person to orchestrate this in the capacity of Trump Campaign advisor.

It also undermines the initial statement that this was based on DOJ recommendation, and the other initial statement that it was because of his Clinton emails statement.

It basically demonstrates they're blatantly and openly lying about the motivation here, which looks double, extra bad considering Trump's admittance of interfering with the FBI investigation prior to this.

That's actually fair, tbh.

But at some point you don't come back from what Trump is doing with the executive. He is everything people claimed Clinton was from a "personal profit" perspective plus a whole lot worse on top of all the other things.

But at the end of the day we can just vote out Pence in 2.5-3 years. What Trump is doing will last much longer.

(And I know this will fall on deaf ears because you defend Trump in some sort of bizarre both-sidesism and have for months).
