i gave my 2 weeks notice and my boss was like:

"ok so everyone he's leaving that means his only goal from here on out is to wrap up his current projects and help you understand the transition. no new work or additional projects for him. instead try doing them yourself and get him to show you how to complete them in his absense."

whats the first thing they fucking do? pile a ton of shit on me they dont wanna do the week after next. and then we had our anonymous professional reviews and my boss thought it was funny everyone else in the office commented (anonymously) "i dont give a shit about deadlines."

im so glad im leaving this place.

A parent donated 1000 dollars to the program in the Spring and we got NOTHING new for the classroom.

They aren't that bad.

The woman who takes care of the money takes care of it for our program and the church it runs out of. She is horrible at her job, and it looks like all our extra money was getting absorbed in to the church fund. Also, people who are members of the church feel like they are special and only pay when they feel like it. I really want to take over our money when school starts, but I don't know if the board will allow it.

This may sound petty, but I can't stand when people constantly state your name in a one on one conversation. You've already established me as the subject. Repeating my name every other sentence makes it sound like you're mad at me or you're talking to me like a fucking dog.

that would be annoying. I have a friend that does that occasionally throughout the conversation, but not like every sentence.

when new people come in and try to cut the lights "on" that are hanging over our row.

then i go and cut them off and explain to them we have a lights out policy for the help desk and they can either cut their desk lamp on or move to a different set of cubes.

I keep the big over head lights off but the part time grants writer comes stomping in for the day and turns them on because she's old and "can't see well"

why can't she just use a desk lamp like me

Kind of scary a boss would find that funny. Unless it's "haha I'm firing them all for being slackers" funny

Speaker phone, in an office of cubicles, not a conference call or anything. I think they are just too lazy to hold a phone to their ear. I do not want to hear the details of all of your calls. And also, just because you arent holding the phone to your ear, doesnt mean you have to yell.

and she's eating some fish and veggie combo that smells like she is eating garlic like an apple

this whole side of our office smells so bad and I usually love garlic, but fuck it's too early for this

Smoked Salmon is ok with cream cheese on a bagel (bonus points for some capers) but that's about the only one I can think of

instructor?

professor?

mr?

if they dont have a preference what do you do? what is their job title typically?

^5 They're not a professor. If you're looking for a title, they're Mr. Bob. As in, "Your instructor for this course is Mr. Bob." If they had their PhD and wanted to seem like a elitist you could call them Dr. Bob.

this one cat on the other side of the cubicle wall has 2 of the most annoying laughs

one of them sounds like peter griffin and the other is just some "hyuh hyuh hyuhhh", really

loud, annoying laugh you can hear all over this whole side of the building

i thought it was 2 different dudes for the longest time until I was told it was the same guy and witnessed it for myself

Spending the last 6 weeks of a 16 month project having to work East Coast, West Coast, and India hours (sometimes even in the same day) resolve your last few parts of the project just to have your position 'reduced to lower head count' 3 days after you finish because your boss's boss's boss's boss's boss thinks your team can do the job with 10% fewer people when you didn't have enough people to cover everything in the first place. (Pro-tip: avoid being the 1 guy on the team that works out of a different state).

Also, people who have no concept of a phone voice/indoor voice and spend all day on the phone talking when you can here them 8 cubes away

it's really bizarre to me the number of people who bring in newspapers for their lunch breaks... and read the paper while sitting in front of the computer.

Multiple VMs running, domain security policy to scan entire drive for viruses as a scheduled task that occurs on Wednesday right in the middle of your work day.

Man my system is slowing to a crawl. Oh yeah, it's Wednesday, all my VMs are scanning for viruses. Might as well take a 30 minute break.

it's frustrating having to explain something to someone so many times.

i'm sorry that you don't have an understanding of new innovative ways to do things... but that's really not my fault now is it?

I'm tired of this insufferable cunt at my work. She's in a different department from me but a few times a year I have to collaborate with her. She's one of these people that can get the overall job "done" but does a shitty job at the details. Then sits there and blathers on about how "I've been doing this for seven years now I know what I'm doing." I'm sorry if in 7 years you haven't learned such basics as if there's a bunch of Hindus at a catered event, you shouldn't have all the protein sources be beef

I work from 7:15 AM until 4:15 PM. Most of my coworkers hours are from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM. They usually show up between 9:30 and 10:30 though. My project manager schedules meetings from 11:00 to 12:00 to compensate for all the late arriving cowrokers. Right in the middle of my lunch.

^same thing here. I work 7-4 because we can pick our schedule. There are supposedly 6 other people that work 7-4 and the dont get here till 745 because they know that the bosses dont come in until 8 am. Of the 50 people in our office, i would say 15 of them show up on time(or even less than 15 minutes late). Im just glad im the first one out of the office, because i bet all of these same people leave early and that would bug the ever living shit out of me. If you want to leave early, get here early.
