your comment was to seal the gap. what the hell for? looks? sheathing is more than well enough attached to the studs. moving it up to the top is pointless, you lose the lateral support AND other functionality it provides at a lower level.

as for being required on an 8ft. run, what's your point? it's already been established it's taller. if you put it where you suggested, you're also going to be close to that 8ft. mark, possibly still not meeting code unless you add an additional string of blocking. furthermore, just because the code only calls for it after 8ft. doesn't mean that's an acceptable practice in building a QUALITY structure.

why didnt you have one giant door or one opening? is it for structural support reasons to have that mid divider?

structural and door availability. it would likely require a steel beam or at least much more extensive framing work to span/support such an opening depending in the exact width.

also, a custom built/made door would likely be required.

slut only advised they should have gotten an inspection before pouring (durrr, brilliant!) which has nothing to do with the quality of work, nor can they do anything about it now.
