True, that is a legalese semantics argument, and I think you may be right about the ultimate outcome there.

He makes a lot of good points. Legislating language is a dangerous, dangerous precedent to set regardless of any good intentions that might be behind it (though in this case it's pretty clearly intended as a club to punish wrongthink). Hate speech laws, holocaust denial laws, blasphemy laws, mandating pronoun usage... they're all fucking horrible. 12/10/2016 11:12:08 PM |

If a boy wants to wear a dress? Fine by me. My daughter plays with "boy" toys all the time. We don't fuss at her, we don't tell her it is wrong, but we also don't push it on her to go and try things outside her gender.
I have a feeling that's what these kids would get at this camp/daycare/whatever it is. 8/7/2017 2:26:01 PM |

^^I guess I'm don't really care one way or the other. I mean we probably have had, over the years, over a hundred shows/movies about super heroes, and not one has been transgendered, so if you were to apply that to current population breakdowns, then I guess it is about time. Approximately .3 percent of the population is transgendered, so I would expect that .3 percent of superhero depictions in popular culture would also be transgendered. 7/23/2018 9:35:09 PM |

^^That's usually when it comes to Trump, because I don't like him, but I also think some of the things that the media and the left does to him are going to hurt chances of a different president in 2020, so, while it may come off as defending Trump, I actually am defending the chance that we can change things in the next election.
This whole "lets throw a bunch of stories at the wall and hope it sticks" plan isn't working. It is all big news for a few days, it goes away, he still acts like Trump, and it all happens all over again 48 hours later.

But have you not noticed a pattern as to when these stories break? And when they do, there's a small whirlwind of "OMG did you see what he did now??" And then nothing. He'll tweet some stuff, his base goes nuts, the left goes nuts, nothing happens, and then he creates a new shitshow to cover up the last.
Rinse and repeat.
The only thing that could get him, maybe, is what is on those 12 recordings that Cohen has. But I doubt it. He's too well insulated in Congress, and pretty soon, on the SCOTUS as well. 7/24/2018 10:01:42 AM |

This person transitioned at the age of 35, having fully gone through adulthood as a male with testosterone, lifting the whole way and building the muscle/skeletal base of strength.
Transitions, becomes the best female division weightlifter in NZ, by far. Like, the 2nd place isn't close.
Crazy coincidence! Trans women are women though.

and that policy is BS because it puts a cap at testosterone of 10 nmol/L, but women born as females who are elite athletes don't go above 2 nmol/L. seriously, look at those numbers again.
yes, very fair.
it is stupendously ignorant and mind-boggling that so many 'woke' people today think that a man transitioning into a woman as a fully grown adult does not carry over massive physiological, morphological, and biomechanical advantages from having grown in the womb as a male (bathed in testosterone) and having gone through puberty and teenage years as a male. nor any advantages from all the training done as a male, which is far different from the training done by women, both in load and volume, which further widen the gap between men and women.
they really need to create a separate category for transgender men and women to compete in sports.
so many professional athletes have spoken up against her being allowed to compete with women... yes, it's because they are all 'transphobic' and hate trans people! just gotta be that... can't be any other reason! cancel them all for transsphobia!!!

^ what a rebuttal.
some more observations about this issue and its discussion:
-- whenever i see some people on FB/Twitter/YT objecting to transgender people being allowed to compete with cisgender people, i never fail to also notice the extreme so-called 'woke' people resorting to ad hominem and attacking the characters of those objecting, rather than actually responding to their points. the usual snide remark is along the lines of, "oh you suddenly care about women's sports now" or "since you care about women so much, what have you done to help women?", with the undertone being "you are a misogynistic, religious nutjob who hates women so stop pretending that you care about women's sports". sure enough, some actually straight up say that. what makes these "woke" people think they can impute right-wing religious and political views upon the objectors? i thought "woke" people were logical and refrained from false accusations? not all people who object are right-wing. many are, indeed, liberals. but it's just easier to simply paint any objection as transphobia... makes the screaming at and insulting objectors easier.
-- talking of logic, another 'rebuttal' i frequently notice is along the lines of "but there are already stronger women and weaker women, so what about them?" or even asking how that natural variation in women is different from letting trans women compete against born-women. seriously, are y'all that ignorant and illogical?
-- caitlyn jenner: is she a self-loathing transphobe? is she a conservative, religious nutjob? that's what you "woke" people should say, right? pretty sure she knows a thing or two about being a trans woman and also competing in sports.
-- did y'all watch sarah silverman (she resorted to all the 'refutations' and personal attacks mentioned above) insult and excoriate jenner for saying trans women should not be allowed to compete with born women? she sounded utterly stupid and ignorant, made irrelevant and false comparisons and analogies, and couldn't even string a proper coherent thought together. i don't know who this rubin guy is, but his analysis of silverman's bizarre rant is spot on; listen to sarah and his breakdown of it: https://youtu.be/c_qnJQG5aGE?t=1241 that's a must listen to see the ugliness (and sheer stupidity and ignorance) inside her. 6/23/2021 2:56:48 PM |

The arguments for trans women competing with actual women (not gonna say cisgendered) is that testosterone can't be proven to give a competitive edge.
So if that's the case, why have any sport based on gender? Let women join the NFL. Let men compete in women's soccer.
Let's tear down those walls people! 6/24/2021 12:52:50 PM |

What about cater semenya? Is it fair that she essentially has to take inhibitors? Is it fair that LeBron James gets to compete against men with lower t levels? If a man's t level is low enough should he compete with women? Should we eliminate gender from all categories and just have t levels like weight classes?

That's not what they say because otherwise they wouldn't have an upper limit on T levels. So, they acknowledge that T levels do confer an advantage, but the upper limit on T levels for trans women is several fold higher than the max level that is found in elite female athletes, which is very unfair.
The argument is that taking estrogen and/or T blockers for a year is enough to reverse the effects of your body bathing in T for decades, which is a completely anti-scientific and, frankly, very stupid argument. They say the advantages are eroded nearly completely by the hormone therapy. Fucking idiots.
It is simple: we need new categories for male women (trans women) and female men (trans men). Or maybe a single category for them. I wonder who would be better at sports requiring speed and/or strength, trans men or trans women.6/24/2021 4:16:53 PM |
