I also see a lot of whining and crying about trying to overturn the election results or name calling of Trump supporters. Those people aren't the people I tend to listen to anyway, because they're the type of people who mostly just post cat memes and selfies all day.
The few Trump supporters I have in my feed are just bashing the left and calling them crybabies and gloating. None of them have said a peep about his transition to the white house or potential cabinet choices. 11/15/2016 6:30:16 PM |

^^^That kind of attitude is why we have so many people living in their bubble.
If I said that about hanging around like minded people, you would sit there and tell me that I need some diversity in my life. Normally, having discussions with people who have different viewpoints can get things accomplished. But now, we're all so polarized, it just leads to arguments. 11/15/2016 7:25:50 PM |

Right. People in their communities don't need to work together at all, nor share similar values and goals to get shit done. Things will just build themselves, legislation will just somehow happen, and life will get better if we just consider the view point of others and think about them deeply. It's better to just sit and listen to people's opinions and agree to disagree instead of working towards compromises because working together is obviously why we are so divided. Solving problems on the local level only leads to more problems, because people far away may not like what the results are.

Those people understand it just fine. What they don't understand is that the concept is fundamentally opposed to the concept of privatized healthcare-- health insurance can't make profit if they don't deny sick people coverage. People who support coverage for pre-existing conditions, which is the majority of the country, really want a government insured risk pool (aka medicaid for more-- or all), they just need someone to figure out a good way to explain it to them without tickling their "socialism!!" bone. Maybe Trump is this person, who knows.
Regarding the surge of racism/sexism/homophobia recently: "When trump empowers his supporters, he's not empowering the best. He's bringing out the racists, he's bringing out the misogynists, he's bringing out the antisemites, and some, I assume, are good people."

^ I don't think it's incongruent with privatized healthcare (whatever that means, I'll take it to mean "non-state-run healthcare"). I think it is incongruent with our current, seriously fucked up system, where we treat health insurance like a group-savings plan. How exactly is requiring coverage for people who are definite money pits not incongruent with privatized insurance? No private insurance company would voluntarily take on clients that will be a loss of revenue, if they can avoid it. 11/16/2016 1:47:45 AM |

Donald Trump Requests Security Clearance for Son-in-Law Jared Kushner http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-kushner-profile-idUSKBN13A2QZ
So in South Korea, their president is being pushed out because she was caught giving state secrets to a family friend (who happens to be a cultist), and letting this family friend vet her speeches.
But Trump openly is giving favors to his kids and son-in-law and the right can't raise an eyebrow. Worse yet, the media really didn't go after Kushner because it's not customary to investigate a candidate's family, but it looks like this guy is going to be making decisions for America. 11/16/2016 1:54:59 AM |

Nah. Not explicitly. Though there are certainly enough horrible people that like to fall under that umbrella that the two converge often. Really though it's two things: anti-establishment and nationalistic views.
It is true that often times those nationalistic views tend to coincide with "it's a white Christian country" but there are enough that don't that it's tough to put an entire blanket on them.11/16/2016 6:28:13 AM |

But I found this meme to be particularly funny:

And also, I think it's entirely likely that Trump is a weird sexual predator. He runs a beauty pageant, brags about going backstage when the girls are naked, openly boasts about groping women, and in all likelihood, has some weird attraction to his own daughter. Yeah, his wife and daughter should be off limits as long as they aren't influencing policy, but Trump himself is completely fair game. 11/16/2016 1:17:20 PM |

Honestly you are still going with this bullshit narrative as Clinton voters RIOT and the DNC was CAUGHT paying hobos to START VIOLENCE. Notice I said that it is incongruent with our current fucked up system of group-savings-plans masquerading as insurance. In that regard, it can't work and I agree with you. With actual insurance, even high-risk people (money pits, as you call them) can be insured. It's just that, with the way the ACA works, the premiums necessary to cover them, even under an actual insurance model, would be so high as to make the insurance completely unaffordable. It's also dependent upon what the pre-existing condition is. You can insure a patient who has had cancer but currently has no insurance, for instance, and remain profitable. What you can't do, (which, by the way, the ACA basically allows), is insure someone who currently has cancer and no current insurance, and remain profitable. The ACA tried to deal with this, but since it is treating health insurance as a group-savings plan, it can't possibly succeed.11/16/2016 7:57:56 PM |
