at my office we hired Chris Craymer from the UK (http://www.chriscraymer.co.uk/) to shoot a series for our upcoming "back to campus" launch. Pretty tight fashion photography, though it was more compelling flipping through his book than looking on that website.

Meh, I thought about it since I have a meeting right across the street at Circuit City at 8 am. However, it'll probably be pretty boring to look at pictures of. It doesn't seem like a good photo oppurtunity at all. This is something for video.

Since my 20D has a crop factor of 1.6x, my lens at 300mm is essentially at 480mm. I could get a 2x converter but I dont feel like spending the green on it. It was on the highest MP setting, 8.2mp. I don't normally shoot RAW so its on JPEG. I shot it at that resolution because I cant get close enough. That way I can crop it in during post processing. I set the camera on a tripod with a cable release. There was some post processing primarily to sharpen the photo and tweak the exposure/shadows/highlights.

Shutter speed: 1/50
Aperature: f11

I think the one Docido posted of the skyline is kinda loose. I know it is a skyline shot, but there is TOO MUCh dark. Maybe a crop on the top and bottom, or a longer exposure to make the lights a bit brighter.

But that's just my opinion.

^^^^^ ZiP, you KNOW I've been keeping up with this thread; chomping at the bit. My site was down and I was waiting for it to repopulate. But most of all, you know how much of a slacker I am. Haha

^^^I added the noise in all the pics (except for the night shot) on purpose. I added more to the last shot there; maybe a bit too much.

I think there is a difference between noise and grain though. I like the grainy quality and naturally hate a noisy photo. For their mediums they are equivalent meaning you generally want less of it in each medium. However I do like the grain quality, but thats a personal preference. I suppose it would be more appropriate on a black and white though.

^ Your comments are pertinent Ronny. I generally try to keep the aspect ratio but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to make it an irregular shape photo. The photos that I took are a bit brighter generally but I didnt like the "purple" quality of the sky. I'll manipulate the shot again and maybe post it.

It is definitely a cool shot, but I think with more emphasis on the lights instead of the appearance of isolation it would be rad. Also, I think if it was in one long panaramic picture, it would appear more expansive and dramatic.

Long exposure of the Raleigh Skyline. A 30 second exposure didn't yield much interesting stuff, since the traffic was very light.

oddly enough, i think the best pic i've taken was from my old point-and-shoot Nikon CoolPix 4300 while spending Thanksgiving with family in Richmond, VA in 2002.

Somehow its got selective focus, some oranges (they were much harder to achieve than greens with that camera), as well as emotion and action -- most of my shots are of random decaying structures, rather than people. Anyway, here's the shot:



My cousin Allison is on the left, my brother, Clay, is in the middle, about to tackle another cousin of ours, Jonathan. None of the other pictures from that weekend turned out too decent, but that one I have always liked.
